The Motel is a 2-storey building and each room is a suite with a kitchenette (some 1 and some 2 bedrooms). It was great to be able to make breakfast and snack and not eat out all the time. The full size fridge came in handy. It's clean and conveniently located a short drive to the beach (about 3km). Shopping and restaurants are across the street - very convenient. We spent a beautiful weekend in Port Elgin, but I was really hoping for more comfort. The bed was really soft. The hotel is clearly in transition, some of the decor is quite nice but the kitchenettes and bathrooms are dated. I am not a fussy person, but the lack of water pressure was really frustrating. It was like showering on the 'maid of the mist'. I couldn't wait to go home and wash my hair properly! The management seems to be investing in flat screen TV's, but I would much rather prefer a good shower, soft towels, and duvet linens instead of the flowery bed questionable bed covers. Also, the manager was abrupt - it was hot outside so maybe he was just grumpy. We asked for extended check-out, the hotel was empty and he told us that our rooms specifically had been booked and we had to check out - yeah right....Overall, I would go back, but I really hope management reads this and at the very least fixes the showers:)

We stayed for two nights and we were very pleased as the room was a bit dated it was the cleanest room we have been in for a long time. Everything was provided for us and we quite enjoyed our stay there, we would absolutely recommend this place to our friends and family!

Large rooms, good location and the motel usually has an escort service available in house, which is good for Bruce Power contractors that use the place.
Pizza shop and liquor store across the road.Morals and ethics it does not have, but good size rooms.

This place could be a great place if they cared but they don't and it's dirty (I'm a tradesman and I'm creeped out just sitting here !) It's full of mice (I have pictures of droppings under the sink/cooking area) I put all my food and even a toaster I bought in a plastic tote so the mice can't get at it (I wondered why everything was dirty except the bottom tray of the toaster that's usually full of crumbs. Little buggers climbed into the toaster and ate all the crumbs then I was making toast ! They don't wash the bathroom sink, toilet or shower tub. (really) When we got here we spent 4-5 hours cleaning our room (Bruce Power shutdown and places are hard to find) Anyway, my girlfriend borrows the vacuum every time the cleaning girl comes because they don't vacuum (she comes every 4 days) They only take out the garbage every 4 days. You have to ask for toilet paper and fresh towels and bed sheets. (That are old and stained and smell heavily of some kind of perfumed soap or dryer sheet) ... It takes an easy 5 minitues to get hot water from the taps (they don't heat the building in the winter so all the water in the lines is cold !) There's more but i think you might have an idea of what the place is like. If they went unit by unit with a fresh coat of paint and a bucket of soap and water this could be a great place ! It wouldn't even cost much money or time. Shame on these owners !

This place is a dump. Everything is dirty, furniture, carpets, the kitchen, bathroom etc. the tv doesn’t work for longer than 5 mins and then shuts off for no reason at all, the walls are crumbling, it’s so dated and dirty, save your money, and go stay at the super 8 or the holiday inn. The only good thing about this place is that you can smoke on the balcony.

Room was dirty, actually dirty, sofa, carpets, refrigerator, oven, corners, closets. Towels and sheets gray. Strong musty smell. When I mentioned this thing to the owner, he became upset and simply answered: if you are not satisfied, go to another place. And I did. I payed more than 190 CAN for that terrible room. I am really concern in the middle of COVID-19 pandemic, that a place with these conditions can be open.

Rooms are filthy and completely outdated. Do not waste your money at this place. The first room that we were given was absolutely disgusting with holes in the wall. We were offered a larger room which was still bad. The bedding was clean and bathroom was clean. The rest was not.

Our group stayed here for a weekend. It is a motel that is used during the week by workers at the Bruce Power plant so it has all the amenities of home. The fridge actually got cold and worked. The suite we had was cozy, not overly large but for the price it was good. The queen sized bed took up almost the whole bedroom. The rooms were clean and tidy and our room had a usable balcony. The bathroom was small and dated with a fan that was very noisy whenever the light was turned on. Our group was able to use one of the BBQ's and the gazebo for the evening which was great. The owner even brought us out more utensils when he noticed how much food we were cooking. Our group thought the place was great for our purposes.

We decided to book at Sand Castle Motel because of the the apartment style suites. Upon entering the place, there was a funky moldy-like odour mixed with plug-in deodorizer smell. Most of all, we couldn't help seeing how dated the motel was. The hallways had minimal lighting with the bad odour lingering there.

We had the 1 Bedroom Deluxe suite which included a full kitchen (full refrigerator, 70s style stove, utensils, dishes, glassware, a few cookware) with a Queen bed. The bed was the bonus because it was very very comfortable. The bedroom included a noisy air conditioner box and a tiny CRT tv in the corner.

In the living room, there was a 70s style couch with a CRT tv in a huge cabinet. There was a non-working thermostat. Thus, the A/C or heating didn't travel to the living room.

The bathroom had the most annoying and very noisy fan we had ever heard! The water pressure was so-so with a very dated shower faucet.

Despite the old school facilities, the room was clean and the Wi-Fi worked well.

We didn't like the blatant note above the kitchen sink that if we didn't clean the dishes and put them away, we would be charged $12 extra on our credit card. If we didn't feel like cleaning the kitchen, management advised us to leave a $10 bill for the housekeeping.

Mainly, we stayed here as an overnight stopover. If you can get over the funky odour and dated decor, the place is ideal if you just want the basics plus a little homey comfort.

The room was NOT clean. Starting with the bathroom - the toilet was covered in dust and pee stains, the shower was dirty (there was soap scum on the shelves), the sink and the old hand wash pump were not cleaned. The kitchenette area - the microwave had food bits and splashes, the cupboard doors were dirty and the floor was not cleaned - it was sticky and the bottoms of my feet were dirty after walking on it. Based on the other reviews, its pretty obvious that this was not an oversight but that the owners/manager feel like they don't need to clean the rooms after each guest, which is ridiculous and unacceptable. Not worth the money we paid to stay here.
