Driving down the 401 in the middle of a snow storm is incredibly dangerous. After trying to get a room outside of Toronto and being denied, we were extremely grateful to Hampton Court in Port Hope who gave us a beautiful room to finally get off the hwy and rest. They offer a full breakfast with the price of the room which set us up perfect to continue our trip east the following morning.

I had a wonderful experience. We booked at another hotel but things did not work out last minute so on scrambling to find a hotel we were directed to the Hampton. The room price was very practical, the staff was accommodating and incredibly polite. The room was just what we needed, spacious, and clean. We enjoyed the breakfast as well. All in all it was a very pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again.

The hotel was absolutely beautiful and clean. The rooms were spacious and well stocked, with plenty of outlets and USB ports! The location was perfect for driving almost on 401 And the staff all went above and beyond to ensure all questions were answered and provided us with a warm welcome on arrival. You guys are the best!!!

I've stayed at thousands of hotels and have never written a review in my life. This hotel is the WORST hotel I've ever stayed at. From garbage being piled in the stair well to hotel staff sleeping in storage rooms. This place is disgusting. When you do finally get checked in, if you're lucky enough to get a key, sometimes you will get a room with a guest already in it and get to walk in on them with nothing more than a tattoo on. When you go back to the front desk to get a different room they will usually give you a key that doesn't work. Then you get to go back to the front desk for a third time. Your room will NOT get cleaned every 5 days like they say nor will you get towels back after placing them in the hall to be picked up. The management at this hotel is so unbelievably terrible I cannot even explain. This is a brand new hotel and shouldn't even be open until they figure this stuff out. If you're planning to come to Port Hope to and stay here, I would highly recommend you go somewhere else, you're going to be disappointed.

Basically, this property was dirty from recent construction (bathroom floors had grout covering tiles), furniture (swivel chair) was flimsy and cheap, fridge was uneven on legs, luggage trolleys had broken wheels, Heat and cooling controls were difficult to understand, there was no coffee pot and the list goes on. Staff were friendly and helpful but the place seemed understaffed.
Hot breakfast was good
I was part of a group and a special group rate had "supposedly" been arranged.
At over $300/night, this was a highway motel taking on airs of grandeur
The breakfast buffet had no containers for creamers, sugar packs etc. and hallway trash containers were overflowing.

In order to maintain a high standard this newer hotel needs to make improvements in even the most basic of amenities. For instance, there were no tissues in the room, we ran out of hand soap beside the sink and the front desk advised that there was no refill available for the soap canister, there were no towels in our room when we arrived, the air conditioner unit was very noisy (especially when it started up), a bug was found in the room (although I do not believe it was a roach or bed bug) and there was no ketchup available for the complimentary breakfast. These are very basic items that one would expect when renting a room at over $250 per night.

Breakfast closed at 9am…went to breakfast at 8:30, no more yogurt, no more eggs, 2 sausages left that was undercooked, hashbrowns were not cooked and waffle mix was watered down. Juice was watered down too . The person running the breakfast was not helpful and would not get my son a yogurt when I asked as that is all he would eat.

No cups in the room for drinks and garbage in the parking lot.

New hotel yes, room was clean but missing on the finer details.

Cutting corners to save a dime!

This property was quite new when we stayed there and difficult to find since our GPS couldn’t find the street it’s on. Anyway once we found it we were shocked that we had to pay a $250 damage deposit. Once we settled into our room we were shocked that we couldn’t turn on the TV and the phone was dead! Later noted that there were no batteries in the remote!

I could go on…..

We stayed here for two short stints mid Aug 2022. Our first arrival was after 11pm after a long flight from Europe and then a drive from Toronto airport at night. My cousins in Canada were there to greet us with tea, and the checkin staff at the hotel were great.

Ali gets a special mention, he was also working at the next hotel we were staying at in Napanee (Comfort Inn) and made sure our two rooms were adjacent to each other.

The staff were always friendly and welcoming, the front desk gave our kids Kinder eggs and some other sweets on a couple of occasions.

The hotel is modern and very new. The rooms were excellent, and the breakfast buffet had a good selection.

The pool is small, but good to amuse the kids for a couple of hours when we had time to fill.

The hotel is in a new building so rooms are great and comfortable.
The staff is not friendly at all. I went to check in with my 9 year old,the couple before were welcomed and all smiles. Being visibly brown I was asked for photo ID and that they will keep it for a bit . Then asked why I was there? Like it's a hotel with my kid so obviously it's a vacation.
Then at 530am woken up by the fire alarm. No staff came out to explain what happened.
Thought in the morning the hotel would atleast give something complimentary even a water bottle but nothing.
The breakfast area was comfortable but no one was cleaning the tables after another person used them.
Overall management needs to improve for sure.
