We rented cabin number 6. It was well suited for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 children). The cabin was tight, but it was really clean, the showers had hot water and no issues with the water pressure at all. They provided the linens and all necessities and utensils in the cabin. Staff was helpful and reachable when we needed. Playground was perfect for the kids. Water level was high this year but still amazingly fun. We will definitely be going back!

This campground is so clean. If someone isn't cleaning the bathroom laundry room they are cleaning the grounds including the waterfront. The staff are super friendly and accommodating. We will certainly come back!!

This place is great! My kids love it there. If you’re bringing kids, there’s lots for them to do and see. The cabins are great, ours had bunk beds which my kids loved! The staff are great people and were very helpful. I’d recommend this place to anyone with family looking for a relaxing getaway.

Just came back from another amazing week at South Bay Resort. I can’t get enough of this little piece of heaven so close to home. We stayed in a rented trailer for the first half which we all loved. The kids couldn’t get over the size of the trailer and had a blast playing in there. It was clean, spacious and super comfortable. We then moved closer to the beach side and rented one of their cabins. This space was cute and cozy and the kids were huge fans of bunk beds. We loved that the cabin had all the household amenities like a flush toilet, full-size fridge, stand in shower, coffee maker, cooktop and bbq. We didn’t have to bring anything other than our food. The water there is so crisp, clear and calm. We rented paddle boards and kayaks for a few hours and cruises along the beach exploring. We did some biking, walking, playing in the park and had nighttime fires. The staff is extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. We could not have asked for a better week away. I highly recommend this campground for a nice family or couples getaway. There’s something for everyone. Can’t wait to be back.…

Stayed here last summer at the start of our vacation and big disappointment. Ensure they don't book you in the cabin across from their office and beside their living quarters as this will be your true Canadian northern experience! If you are over 6o you will have to manoeuvre up to the cabin and back done on rickety steps; if you have anything larger than a compact vehicle you will have to back out everytime you want to open the door and, as an added bonus you can listen to staff loudly enjoying 'themselves' with wafts of pot floating thru the cabin into the early morning hours... If you're from the City and this is what your idea of a Northern getaway is then, this is your spot! Staff could take a lesson or two from the Wild goose staff in Geraldton, now, there's a class act and true northern experience. Owners must have campaigned hard to get the positive reviews they have because this is in no way above a two star'resort'.…

Dear 2wanderbeyond, this concerns us greatly. It concerns us that you have already left us a review last year and that again you are the only person ever to have rated us so low. It is also very worrisome that this continues to fester within you. We wish you peace in your future travels and endeavors. I will reply again to your above comments. First off, we do realize that the cabin closer to the lodge is less private for all. We have designed a small fenced in yard and we fully disclose this information in our cabin description. Seems obvious that it does not matter what age you are, there are indeed steps that are required to enter the cabin. 5 steps precisely, all of which are solid. I guess when you book a cabin built in 1960's as part of an original northern fishing lodge, an elevator isn't an option. The actual parking located directly to the right hand side of the cabin is fit for 2 Hemi trucks side by side. Again, you are right that you can't just drive through and must either back in or back out but otherwise, it is forest so destroying forest so that drivers don't have to use their reverse seems legit. To open your door, please do not park so close to the cabin. As for enjoying ourselves, we bend over backwards on any given day to ensure everyone has a great time. We stay up so we can ensure security to the grounds and as a bonus we also get to have a campfire, play guitar and roast marshmallows. This is a family owned and operated campground, there is no illegal activity here. I do suggest that you continue to return to the spots you love and let the people who love this place ( and trust me when we say there are many and none of them required campaigning) return to us and then all can experience their own great Northern Experience.

We rented cabins 2 and 3 for our trip with 4 kids (ages 8,11,12 and 11 months) and us and grandparents. The resort/campground is just minutes from the ferry dock (you can hear the chi cheemaun horn every time!). The cabins are older and rustic but included pretty much everything we needed, including towels and bedding. It’s reasonably priced comparable to a motel, but much much better! The cabins are lakefront and we were able to sit in the screened in porch to relax and watch the kids swim. The shower has awesome pressure and stayed hot. This was quite a luxury for “camping”. The area was quiet and safe for our kids to run around and go to the camp store on their own. The only downside I found was that the rentals of paddle boards, paddle boats, canoes and kayaks was a little pricey $10-20 per hour per vessel. Adds up quick with 3 kids who want to try it all. The owners were very friendly and checkin and check out was quick. We all had a very nice time, even though it rained most of Saturday. We ventured out in the rain to Bridal Veil falls about 45 mins away. We look forward to another visit back next summer and maybe even this fall. …

We are so pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay. We understand that some people may want to rent boats for several hours and we have organized «package deals » in the past depending on availability and demand. Be sure to inquire upon your return.

We were only passing through and stayed 1 night. We lucked out and got a site right on the water which probably made our stay. Very kid and pet friendly and the owners were so accommodating and friendly. Everyone had a great time and would go back to stay a little longer. Recommend the water front sites as the beach is a little small and no dogs on the beach area.

My boyfriend and i stayed 5 nights, was a beautiful little place, the view of the lake is amazing, bathrooms are very clean, free showers with great water pressure. Everyone is very friendly, we took our boat and left it docked they have convenient spots to leave your trailer or boat if its not in the water. Also the fishing out in the lake for bass along the islands is great! We would definitely come back again!
