I just spent two nights in the Pottery Studio 2 room, taking part in a small group week-end retreat hosted by Southbay Gallery and Guesthouse. The bed was comfortable, it was quiet and I slept well. The indoor spaces, the gardens, the food, the companionship and hospitality were all excellent. When travelling to and from Manitoulin by ferry (I'm an island resident), I've frequently stopped in at the gallery to see what's newly arrived for the season. Brenda's warmth, curiosity, hospitality and friendliness have been a draw for many - newcomers and regulars. Thanks for your support for artists and art appreciators! Emily Weber
Excellent stay. Brenda greeted us at the gallery across the street and showed us right to our cottage. She explained all the features of the room and property. She also recommended local eateries. The room itself was very comfortable and very clean. We were touring on motorcycle and this was the perfect overnight/location for the morning ferry.
What individual comfort and gorgeous setting, in our artisically decorated rooms! Also, our cottage, that could sleep 2 to four, was well equipped. There was plenty of light coming in and the vegetation and floral additions outside added to our pleasure. It was wonderful to be able to meditate throughout the site, with plenty of comfortable chair. We were even able to gather for meals and meetings, in one of the larger cottages that also had a kitchen to cook in. I highly recommend this place for individual and group events.
I spent the past weekend at Southbay Guesthouse and cottages and it was fantastic! Brenda is a very sweet, kind and attentive hostess. The rooms are beautifully decorated, SO comfortable and quaint. It is a very short walk to the ferry and there are trails to hike close by. Loved staying here and definitely recommend it!
This is the second time we’ve stayed here, passing through Manitoulin. Rooms are comfortable & well-appointed, and Brenda & Jose are very welcoming. It couldn’t be more convenient for the ferry, but also feels like you’re still in the country, rather than the tourist part of town. Definitely also check out the Gallery. I again found some really unusual gifts. My husband loved the firepit! They used to do breakfast; not sure if they don’t any more or it was that we were post-Labor Day.
