The Lakeside Motel is inspired by the community and culture of the county and we hope to both preserve and participate in all it has to offer as we make our mark. We’ve got eyes for details and we’re just a bit funky. Our trademark blend of antique-meets-boutique brings new life to the beautiful old motel that we’ve managed to get our hands on. the rooms are comfy, cozy, quaint and cool. If you’re room bound, we’ve got the air conditioned, fire place at the ready, apple tv and wifi on full blast. Sometimes you just need to get away; we get it. If you’re looking to boot around the county and explore; we’ve got you covered.grab a bike, zip around to the wine farms and come back to enjoy the fruits of your labour by the lake. we don’t have a restaurant, but we’ve snacks a plenty. Come hang out with us Lakeside.

We went to Prince Edward County this past weekend and stayed at the Lakeside Motel. It is amazing. The rooms were all new and very clean and bright and were so stylish! The rooms were also a good size. There were so many amazing details at this motel. All of the rooms had fireplaces which was amazing in the fall.
Although the pool and patio were closed for the season , it looked like they would be amazing during the summer. The view on the patio is amazing!
The staff was so friendly and casual and made us feel right at home. They lit bonfires each night so we were able to sit outside for a while.
The rooms come well stocked with a selection of local wines and beers for purchase.
There was also a fridge in each room so you could bring snacks or your own drinks if you wanted.
They served complimentary coffee in the morning in the gazebo which was great.
The motel is only 600m or a quick walk to shops and restaurants such as East & Main or the Drake Devonshire.
Wellington is a great location as you can park your car for the whole weekend if you are doing a wine tour and not have to drive at all.
We will definitely be back in the summer!

My family had a very enjoyable experience at The Lakeside Motel. The owners clearly set out to create not just a place to stay, but a unique environment that melds an artsy sensibility with a modern minimalist feel. The rooms have a Marie Kondo vibe - no drawers very minimalist. There are beds, lamps, fridge, and moveable hanging space for clothes. Outside the room is where the fun starts. There are 'glampers' in tents in a grassy area near the pool, so close to the public space that they feel like they are part of an art installation. There is a huge open-air dining area with a beautiful patio by the water. The pool is very inviting and comes with plenty of sun chairs for relaxing and people watching. The campfires and s'mores at night create a fun and comfortable atmosphere. I would offer just a few tips to improve the place:
1. Being a guest at the motel seems to offer no advantage at all when it comes to the pool. I would allow motel guests to have a separate line for towels, so they are not waiting behind people who have to give deposits and sign waivers. Also, dogs poolside? What? Love dogs but not a good idea for hygiene.
2. While not having hot water is an issue in other motels, The Lakeside's shower and tap water are TOO HOT. Please turn down the knob on your hot water tank. With all the kids staying here, someone is going to burn themselves .
3. Why just one dessert in the restaurant but 3 options for dog food? Weird. And the ONE canolli dessert is not that good.

The rooms are modern and well decorated. Bathroom is a bit small but functional. It would be nice to have curtains for the front window and door as the wood shutters let in too much light, even at night. There is a minibar and safe, free wifi. They offer free coffee in the morning and serve yogurts and muffins on the weekend. We would get breakfast and eat it on the patio by the lake.
We went for drinks one night at the bar overlooking the lake. Cocktails are pretty good and the view is quite nice.
There is a nice swimming pool, however it is open to the public for a fee which means that it is always full and as a guest of the motel you are not assured a chair at the pool. Some people would also reserve their chairs and then leave for hours at a time, preventing others from using the chairs. For the price you pay for the stay, it would be nice if guests had priority for the pool.

The glamping tents were very spacious, clean, and comfortable. The bar fridge and personal fire pits were nice additions. But this form of accommodation probably worked better before the bar/restaurant and pool opened.

The tents are VERY exposed (read: not private); something you don't see advertised on their website. They face the deck and pool. Visitors walk right by the tents, and share the toilets/washrooms. Be prepared for public gawking and photo-taking by restaurant-goers as they sip their drinks.

There are no safes in the tents, either. So do not leave anything valuable inside.

Finally, the noise is something to reckon with. The bass plays from 8:30 am to 10:30 pm, but the staff will start power-washing the deck, laying out cutlery and such, as early as 6:30 am.

The place is definitely a social hub. So, so if you're looking to relax and escape from the city, go elsewhere. If you're into voyeurism, maybe it's more your scene.

BTW the drinks are VERY weak.

If you want a nice view, this place will certainly do that. Anything else, I’d avoid. Drinks are insanely overpriced, food is AWFUL. We weren’t sure about making a dinner reservation but the owner sold us by promising us a table by the water, saying she’d ensure to save one for us, no problems. We got there for dinner, she didn’t even remember us and also couldn’t find our reservation. As someone who has worked in customer service for many years, the motto should always be “the answer is yes, what’s your question?”. Guests do not come first here, profit does. We almost didn’t even get sat because she didn’t remember us, and our table unfortunately was not by the water as we were told it would be. Luckily, our server was a gem, the only saving grace. So much more to do in PEC than this. I’d come here, snap a few pics for the view, and go elsewhere that’s actually worth the money and where they make you feel valuable. Really disappointing.

We came here for a girls trip from Monday to Wednesday and it was a really nice place.we had a friendly greeting from the beginning, room was clean and nice (we were early so therefore couldn’t get our room right away but we were able to park our car infront of the room already without any issues). We had a drink at the bar which has a beautiful view of Lake Ontario and the pool is also beautiful. A couple problems we noted while we were there: when booking you book with the information that every night you will be able to have a fire at the restaurant, well we were not able to have a fire on any of our nights. The first night I could understand it was raining and the restaurant closed down early. It’s hard in Wellington on a Monday night because not every where is open to eat and the places open to eat are really booked up, we eventually found someplace to eat but it would have been nice if the restaurant stayed open. The second night there really was no excuse, the skies were clear, yet we still could not have a fire? Seemed like the person who was working was just too lazy to do it to be honest. And also we had reservations for 7pm at the restaurant and we get there and the restaurant is closed early AGAIN. when we went to the front desk to tell them we are here for the 7pm reservation, they said they had closed but hadn’t even called us to let us know?? Then he tried to blame it on the staff who work at the restaurant instead of just apologizing and owning up to it. Thank god we didn’t plan our day around this and had a little to eat before or else we would have really been some hangry ladies and No Restaurant is open on a tuesday in Wellington. Wellington’s weekends are like Tuesday-Wednesday.
It also would have been nice if some of the staff knew more about the restaurants around the county, when we asked where we could go for breakfast he said to us “I’m really not sure but there is always a Tim Hortons” um ok we did not come to the county for a tim Hortons but sure.
The whole customer aspect was a bit lacking at this motel unfortunately. You pay a lot of money to stay here yet they barely provide you with the amenities they promise.
I put a 4/5 because although I don’t think it should be rated a 4/5, I also think a 3/5 is low. Not sure how I feel about this place at the end of the day.

We drove from 5 hours away specifically to check out this place for lunch. Upon arrival parking is difficult. We went to the restaurant and were totally excited about the view, the atmosphere and the overall vibe. We ordered drinks and were impressed with them, they were delicious and pretty.

We ordered lunch and what a huge disappointment. In fact, they should be disgraced with themselves. We ordered 2 ceasar salads. They were served on a little plastic TV tray. It was simply finally cut up romaine lettuce, mayonnaise and no name stale croutons for $19.00. We didn't even eat it all as it was so unpalatable. The burger was prepared medium rare and half was left on the plate facing pink side up; when the waiter took it and he didn't even mention it. The pizza was pathetic, there was no prosciutto on it and it had the cheapest blue cheese on it that was repulsive.

When we advised our waiter of the disappointing experience, he told us to give them another chance next weekend. LOL

This little resort has some incredible potential but will not stand a chance if they don't put some love into what they do.

We had a little weekend jaunt to Prince Edward County, and stayed at The Lakeside. What a great choice, this Inn is really nice! Our room was large, with a very comfy bed, large screen TV and a bathroom (a bit on the small side, but just fine). There was coffee offered in the morning out of the office - great! The Inn was previously a motel, so you can park right in front of your room, making it easy for in and out. The property is very large - a huge lawn that leads to the lake. There are Muskoka chairs and firepits so wonderful to enjoy watching the sun set with a wine, while enjoying the fire. There are also raised tents on site, but we didn't use them or look into them. It was fall, so we really enjoyed watching the geese fly-by. The location is nice, right on the water, but also close to lots of wineries and easy walking distance into the town of Wellington for dinner. Just loved staying here!

The location is great - nice waterfront vista within easy walk of the town. But there the positive comments end. The rooms are completely lacking in privacy and attempt to be way too cute. The strange wooden shutters are fastened together by a piece of string and don't close completely. The rooms are tiny and lack anywhere to store clothes. There is nowhere to hang up wet towels. And what was with the strange baseball glove in the room? We booked the motel largely because of the advertised facilities including bar and restaurant. These were closed. So we ended up being charged over $400 a night for an uncomfortable small room with none of the promised facilities. We really felt that we were taken advantage of.

My partner and I stayed one night at the Lakeside Motel in May. The cost was
$955.96 for a 60's era roadside standard, but very tiny, motel room. Not even a box of klenex was supplied, No table, small burueau or even a luggage rack on which to put an overnight case. No meals were included in the room cost. This is not a resort- but a simple 10-unit roadside motel, trying to present itslef as a "resort". Absolutley no value for money at the Lake$$ide Motel.
We have stayed in some of the finest hotels and resorts around globe for the less cost and with far greater service and amenities.
Cannot understand how the owners can, with a sincere face, charge these rates! Disgracefull!
