Our family has stayed here many times and always have a great time. The fire pit at night is lots of fun and you get to meet the other vacationers. The pool is warm and fun for the kids. The accommodations are clean but simple, great for a vacation. The owners are friendly and helpful and the animals are entertainment for children.

I’ve been going to island life cottages for 14 years, although it has seen change, the cottages are not bad, island life cottages has always been a sort of home away from home, and I would go back anytime! Especially for the good friendly service and summer animals!

Great location to watch the night sky with all the stars out. It is like a planetarium visit but no movie projector. Lots of shooting stars. The cottages are in a very remote location near Brackley Beach so there is no light Pollution to ruin nature’s light show. Now the property. This use to be an old farm with multiple cottages install on one side of the property, leaving the whole centre field open for kids to play or fly kites. There is a good size pool for the kids and games room with video games and board games. The cottages are very old with wood paneling. The beds are old and not very comfortable. Has a full size fridge and an old gas stove which has seen better days. All kitchen utensils are on site but are well used( if you are picky, you might want to bring your own). Washroom with a sink, a toilet, and a shower enclosure. The towels don’t smell too fresh even though they do the laundry on site. We also had a BBQ outside on our deck to use at no additional charge. Friendly man at checkin but I don’t think he is the owner. The cleaning lady doesn’t speak much English. She also sets up the nightly fire pit for whoever wants to sit out and make s’mores. Loved the view and the people running the place but our group did not like the condition of the cottage.

I would highly recommend staying here! The log cabin was clean, comfortable and had all the amenities we needed, from a BBQ on the deck, to a stocked kitchen with anything needed to cook. Our neighbors were two friendly llamas. I would stay here again.

This facility needs to be honest about what they have to offer! They do have 1 new beautiful "house like" cottage on the property which is how I believe they gather any positive feedback. The other 13 cottages are more than rustic! Our family had two cottages rented - 1 was the log cabin which didn't have enough windows that would open on the 35 degree days we spent there. Furniture was falling apart, unsafe stairs and loose boards on the deck. Cottage #9 was FULL of spiders on the deck, no hot water and a bed that was hard as rock and had a tack under the bottom sheet! With no A/C one would think they would have fans to offer.....glad we brought our own. The ad boasts BBQ's, firepit, bicycles, petting zoo and pool. The BBQ's were rotten, there is only 1 firepit and it sits right in the playground area! The petting zoo is a couple of horses and lamas that they don't even own and fyi...it borders the cottages so be prepared for flies and smell. We found out on check in that there was no pool which was the whole reason we chose their facility. We were told the liner was on order but the pool looks like it has been out of service for quite some time. When I asked for a discount I was told, "We will see what we can do; you can't predict a pool breaking down." I agree on that BUT...you can tell when your liner is ROTTEN and ripped! There was also no proper container for garbage..just throw your bag on the pile in the open! The gentleman at front desk seemed nice enough but caught him backtracking on his words so many times that I have no faith in his words. Although we did receive a MINOR discount it was only because I was firm with him. We suffered for 2 days only because it was a family vacation we didn't want to ruin but the remainder of our family pulled out 2 days early so they could try to salvage the rest of the vacation. If you have had such experience I encourage you to write or contact Tourism PEI; they will follow up.

We stayed three nights at Island Life Cottages in August. We were in cabin #3 which is a two bedroom cottage. The place was wonderful. Granted it's not upscale but was all we needed. I don't know what these other people are complaining about. The kitchen was well supplied and clean. The bathroom was clean and nice. The beds were good but on the soft side. We will definitely come back and stay here again. It is also in a very quite neighborhood. The only downside was the internet connection. That is not very good. Not their fault as they are on the end of the phone line. They have been trying to get better connection but no luck so far.

We rented the big 5 bedroom house for 5 nights...we were 12 and had enough room for everybody. It was clean and well equipped. Close to the beach and other attractions. Would definitely go back. The little cottages looked ok too but didn't visit them.

When I made the reservation Hughie said they were not far from confederation trail. When we arrived in York it turns out they are 13-14kms from trail. When I called for information about location I spoke to someone with extreme language barrier re English. Had not heard of highway 25 or the Confederation trail. Absolutely No help. When I finally spoke to Hughie he said that it's only a few minutes to their cottages from the trail by bike so they were processing the nights charge against my card. Obviously, nobody there has ridden a bike. I had to stay elsewhere but they charged my card anyway. I will also contest this with the credit card company but just beware.
