Detailed Reviews
My husband and I spent the first two nights of our honeymoon at Sundance Cottages. Our cottage looked exactly as the pictures on the website showed. While not the most trendy of places, we found our accomodations to be clean, comfortable and just as advertised. The kitchen was well stocked with a variety of dishes, pots and pans, sponge, dish soap, coffee filters, lobster crackers, etc; the whirlpool bathtub was great and the staff were friendly yet not "in your face." The accomodations included a season pass for admission to the national park (across the street) which is a nice perk and the location is convenient to the many "Anne" attractions, as well as less touristy spots like North Rustico and New Glasgow. We used the hot tub, which was clean and worked like a charm. The cottages do offer use of their bicylces and are within walking distance to the beach. All in all, we were pleased and would return.

Perfect across the board! As a couple, we at first thought we may have arrived at a "too kid friendly" property. However, the whole place remained rather calm and as always all Canadians are the most pleasant and enjoyable folks in the world. Extremely clean with very updated facilities. Great fire pits that we put to good use. The staff such as Steve and Amanda, great people!!! Go here, you won't be let down at all!

We had three cottages rented in the middle of September, for a guys golf outing. Everything was great, location, cleanliness, comfort and value. Staff was very friendly and accommodating to our needs.
I would/will definitely there again.

The good:
Good location, quick drive to many Cavendish tourist spots.
Nice playground equipment for kids.
Small but clean swimming pool with deck chairs.
Many DVDs available to borrow (as long as they stock the unit with a DVD player)
Awesome jacuzzi bathtub!
Could be improved:
The beds. New mattresses and pillows would go a long way.
Make sure the unit is stocked before new guests. Information binder was missing, the DVD player was missing and the cutting board was missing.
Some windows had bug screens & some didn’t. Some had screens but had holes in them.
It would be great to have a patio umbrella over the picnic table.
Make sure all brochures, websites & listings are up to date & not advertising bicycles available for guests.
It was a good but not great stay. Would probably try a different place next time.

Very clean and well equipped cottage. Great pool and play area. Beds are very hard and pillows flat. Recommend bringing your own pillows. Grandchildren loved the stay! A few things need updating( fans, clock radio but all minor). We would stay again.

The owner is extremely rude.. Our towels were a little dirty from the beach and she charged us $200 to replace them.. Last time i checked towels are meant to get dirty, that is the whole point of putting them in the wash. Anyone ever heard about a little bleach?? Even if they did need to be replaced (which they didn't) it would not of costed $200.... It seemed like she tried to scam money off us all weekend. I was having a quite evening in my bedroom with the door shut and the owner sent in one of the cleaning ladies and she just opened the door without knocking, she said "I had to make sure there was no damage" she could of knocked... there was no form of privacy all weekend. It honestly seemed like she tried to find every little thing to find ways to charge money. Not to mention we found belongings of former guests in our beds.. THEY DID NOT CHANGE THE SHEETS!!! This owner discriminates against young people, does not speak english so you can not have a healthy conversation with her, and is definitely not reasonable.. If you are looking for a place with no privacy, extremely rude heartless owner, money draining, prison like, then this is the place for you!!!! No but seriously I heard the previous owners were great but this new one (Youling) is WACK!

It's my first year to have Sundance Cottages business, all the regulations for Cavendish Beach Musical Festival were set up many years ago by the previous owner, nothing change. for 2015 music festival, the previous owner helped me to take all the reservation. before booking you agreed our requirements, and we also sent the confirmation with all the details after your booking. when you checked in, we explained it again, at the meantime we put one copy of the rules on the table in your cottage. but finally you broke the rules for several times, and this year you are the only one who broke the rules! the first time was that a young guy jumped across the fence into the pool at around 11:00pm after we locked it; the second time was you made very loud music & a big noise in the cottage, other customer complained about it as they had little kids beside you; the third time was you had visitors hidden in the closet; the fourth time was more than 10 face towels, bath towels & hand towels became rags. according to the rules, I should charge you $1000. We had never thought to make money on the rules, we just wanted all the clients with us would be safe, had good experience, and of course any damage to our property was not allowed. if your behavior had influence to other customers, or your own safety, or any damage, we were always strict! we hope you could learn how to respect the public rules when you become older. our house keeper ladies work 9am-4pm every day, so they wouldn't go to your cottage in the evening. for sheets change, we only offer sheets change if customers stay with us 5 or above 5 nights, or if customers have accidents to ask change. but you stayed 4 nights, and you didn't ask to change.

I stayed at Sundance Cottages during the 2010 Cavendish Beach Country Concert. My group of friends and I were treated very poorly by the owner of the cottages. It was unnecessary for him to be as rude as he was to us. Yes, my friends and I were there for a good time. We hung out in the afternoon and had a few drinks before going to the concert in the evening. The people that were staying at the cottage next to us (3 couples who were probably in their fifties) thought we were great. They joined us for a few drinks and often commented on how great it was that we were having so much fun. They couldn't understand why the owners were being so unfair to us.
Long story short, good luck to anyone who actually pays the 1000 dollars nuisance fee. Don't plan on getting it back. Even if you are on good behaviour they will find something to blame you for. I don't recommend this place at all unless you plan on sipping tea on the porch throughout the day and heading to bed before the concert has even started.

I booked online with Sundance Cottages on March 9th for July 10-12,2010. I reserved a cottage with my visa and received an emailed confirmation number.
Less than 24 hours prior to my reservation it was announced that Taylor Swift would be performing in the Cavendish Music Festival on July 10th therefore increasing the need for accomodations in that area.
I received a phone call from the owner of the cottages (10 hours later) cancelling the reservation because he was imposing a four day minimum stay and the rates had increased (I was already being charged peak season). He said because I already booked he would compromise and give me 3 days for $934.(3 rm cottage) instead of 2 days for $531. (2 rm deluxe cottage)...no deal! He refused to honour my reservation and 4 others he made the same day.
Beware!!!

Hello Liz, I would just like to once again express my regret with what happened for your reservation. I would like to correct you on a comment on your review; while I feel you have every right to write the review, I would like it to be accurate. First, there was another reservation from the system totaling 5. Three of the five reservations accepted the change and understood what had happened. Only two, counting yourself, did not keep the reservation. Second, I have been working with Tourism PEI to correct the problem with the booking system and am happy to report that the problem has been found and resolved. My last point would be that we did not "impose" these things arbitrarily, but have statements very clearly marked on our website. Again, I am sorry for the mistakes with your reservation, and hope that you have a fantastic trip and enjoy the concert. Ryan Lowther SUNDANCE COTTAGES 1-800-565-2149

My family and I were set to return to Sundance Cottages this passed Labor Day weekend, as it has become somewhat of a family tradition. This includes, myself, husband and two boys; my sister, her husband and two girls; and, our parents. The Wednesday, for the long weekend, we got word that our Father's father had fallen ill and was not expected to make it through the night. We contacted the cottage to see what we could do about our $300 deposit, as we obviously had to cancel our vacation that we were so looking forward to. We were told that they would try to rebook the cottage. My grandfather passed away on Friday at noon time. We looked online over the weekend to see if the cottage had been booked, and it had, so we were confidant the hotel would return our deposit. When my sister contacted Linda at the hotel, she was told that instead of booking the cottage, they instead upgraded somebody else that was coming in the for weekend, and still lost 1 nights stay, so would only refund $150 of our $300 deposit. We are very disappointed with this. We had so looked forward to our annual getaway, but instead had to spend the weekend mourning an immediate family member, and because of this, we are out $150 - but some lucky person got a lovely upgraded cottage on our expense. We were told that we should have purchased travel insurance!!! Apparently, you need to purchase travel insurance to travel 90 minutes from New Brunswick to PEI. Needless to say, next labor day weekend we will begin a new family tradition at a new cottage, where kindness and compassion come a little more naturally!

We recently stayed at SunDance cottages in Cavendish PEI. The trip started off with a sore point when we booked and missed the low season deadline by 1 day. We were charged $221 plus tax for 1 night. Our friends booked 1 day earlier and were charged only $130.00.
Here are some things that bothered us about this facility:
*The cottage itself looks very out dated and you feel like your walking back in time to 1980.
*The beds were hard
*the BBQ propane was empty
*we could not find the BBQ starter, called the front desk and I was rudely told it was in my info book. (I did look in the book, they said the lighter was in the top cupboard, it was in the desk drawer!)
*the hot tub was about 25 years old and we could not figure out how to work it. The hot tub had a sand sediment at the bottom of it. It was disgusting.
*the public hot tub water was brown and stunk.
Don't waster your hard earned money on this place. They are still stuck in 1980.

All of our cottages have a gas bbq and picnic table on the deck. Bbq utensils are provided as well. The grocery store in North Rustico is a 7 minute drive away. Laura, Cottage Manager.
Fishermans Wharf Lobster supper restaurant is right up the road and it's amazing. 2 small Tourist grocery stores, so you can buy things in small sizes
