We stayed here this past weekend and were very pleased with the accomadations.

Our cottage (#9) had two bedrooms, one with one double bed and the other with two double beds and two full baths- the ensuite with a whirlpool tub.

There was also a propane fireplace and dishwasher- amenities I don't think you would get at many of the other cottages in Cavendish. Cottage was spacious and the kitchen was better equipped then I expected.

The pool was closed due to Covid regulations and we did get a $20 discount per night off our stay as a result. The grounds are well kept and with two playgrounds and a volleyball net enough to keep kids busy.

We will definitely stay here again.

We stayed at Hidden Acres Cottage in August 2019 for a weekend getaway. We were lucky to get a new cottage number 17 which was amazingly spacious and nicely decorated. We had 3 adults, a 4 year old and newborn and there was plenty of space as it was a 2 bedroom with 2 baths. The unit was clean and stocked with the necessities to have a great vacation. It was very close to Anne of Green Gables, mini put, other attractions, restaurants grocery store (which was pricey but you can find everything you need) and of course Cavendish Beach. We also had a bbq on our porch which was awesome! The only downside was the wifi was not the best but when your on vacation that’s usually not too important. We had a great time and would definitely stay there again in the future.

This was our 3rd summer vacation in PEI & Hidden Acres is the best stay yet :)
Our family of 5 stayed in cabin 8 for 3 nights & enjoyed every bit of our vacation. Only a few min drive to all the Cavendish attractions. Pool was clean & had plenty of longing chairs for everyone. There’s a large grassy area that’s great for playing with clear views from the decks. Beds were comfortable & having 2 bathrooms was lovely. Spacious living area & kitchen with all the appliances you could want. Would 100% stay again. Thank you!

I think this was my fourth stay at Hidden Acres, but this will likely be my last.

Outside:
The decks need paint and repair, with peeling paint that sticks to your shoes/feet. The window in our cabin must have had an issue, as between the panes of glass, there was some sort of sealant that dripped, locking like bird droppings flung all over the glass. There was also some sort of flying insect making a home in wood below the door. When sitting on the deck, I would often see them flying in frequently and not leaving.

Inside:
The carpet in the living area was old. I wore shoes throughout the stay. The kitchen was stocked with dishes and pots and pretty much everything you needed. There were some cupboards that needed cleaning though, with larder beetle casings and larvae in one cupboard. There were also red ants coming out the wall by the door one morning. There were probably more than 50 - not just a couple of random wandering ants.

On a positive note, the bathrooms had been updated with new showers, flooring, and toilets, and they were clean with good water pressure. There was a daily towel service, but there weren't enough towels provided. 4 bath towels for 5 people isn't adequate.

Yard/Overall Property
The pool is great. It is starting to show its age, but it is a huge asset for the property, much like the small playgrounds, volleyball net, and firepits.

As another poster mentioned, there was a general look of unkeptness on the grounds - unweeded gardens, long grass, piles of items around, etc.

Staff:
The staff are very friendly, but it was difficult to speak to anyone about an issue, as there was never anyone at the office when needed, so we dealt with issues we had. This included taking the second key from the board in the unoccupied office, finding raid for the ants, and doing some extra cleaning. We waited for a long time to get a second key and eventually took it from rack ourselves - which didn't seem very secure to not have it monitored. I wondered if they may be having difficulty with staffing levels, like many businesses are.

My hope is that they start to put some major work into their existing cabins and take a little more care with the overall experience. This property has great potential!

Please note: I have never stayed in a newer or renovated cabin. The pictures from these cabins look like a huge improvement, so my review is based on the older cabins.

I can understand that Fiona likely slowed any plans for updates, but I was disappointed in the current state of this property and the decline over the years.

Arrived at the property and was greeted by a staff member who could hardly speak any English, were given the keys and went to explore the cottage, the overall appearance was what u expect in Cavendish, however when taking the time to stay there, that's when things go downhill, the cottage we had says it's for 6 people, there is a pull out sofa for 2, the sofa was in complete disrepair, springs broken and could hardly sit on it let alone sleep on it.
Pool was very nice, however didn't seem heated as described.
The overall grounds were somewhat looked after, the pool building also holds the laundry area, that building inside and out certainly was a mess and a complete eyesore of left over parts everywhere.

The owners certainly just care about renting the units out without trying to find out information about groups using there facilities.

We had a large group of teenage kids from a church camp that completely ruined the entire experience at the cottage area, they were loud and were found numerous times wandering into cottages and decks, certainly couldn't leave things on your balconies, there leaders were a complete disgrace blowing whistles to get there children out for breakfast which was held in our front yards.

The management of the cottages seemed disinterested in dealing with the group.

We will certainly never return.

There are many better choices in the Cavendish area

These cabins were absolutely amazing very clean very cute and cozy. They had all the amenities we required nice rooms very updated. The only thing is their yard could use a little work but it was still a nice spot very quiet and the service was very friendly.

Recently visited Cavendish with my parents and teenage son. We stayed in two bedroom deluxe cottage 11 which had two bathrooms. The cottage was very clean, stocked with dishes and utensils in the kitchen, and the bedrooms were both a good size, bigger than many hotel rooms. Would recommend to friends.

Our family rented cottage number #8 on Aug 12th for 3 nights.
My husband, two of our sons and daughter stayed in a 2 bedroom little cottage, with two baths.
The queen room had a small en-suite bath with whirlpool tub, and in the other bedroom had a double bed and a single bed. The second bathroom had a full tub/shower.
The living room area had a sofa that held a double pull out, and there were another two little chairs in which to sit.
There was a very small T.V. and a VCR. We knew in advance of this, so we brought tapes to watch. The office also offers VCR tapes to borrow.

There was a nice pool, clean, but could have been cleaner (they must have been in the process of cleaning the liner, as half was done). The pretty mural was faded - the one in the pictures with the palm tree....and some of the deck chairs could have used a wash. However, the temp of the water was perfect, and we all enjoyed it for an hour or two.

There were two Fire pits by the cottages on the side we stayed. On the other side (where the pool divides the property), I believe were two more. We purchased wood from the front office ....closes by 8pm I believe,...bit pricey...you can get wood down the road at the campsite for a bit cheaper.
We had a campfire two of the evenings we were there, and were allowed to do so past 11pm if we were quiet. It was perfect!!!
There is a volleyball net, horse-shoes, various toys for wee kids, playgrounds, and a basketball net. There are balls supplied (some needing air....we just went to a campers store and bought one), but there are more toys here for all, then most places we have stayed while "cottaging" on the island.
There is a small deck attached with a picnic table and two plastic chairs . There is also a small propane BBQ, that we used twice.
The kitchen is outfitted well. We used it for breakfast and one dinner and two lunches. The table in the kitchen sat 6, so it suited us well.
Our cottage was an executive. We paid $204.00 per eve, plus taxes. As we had our 5th child, we were charged an additional $8.00 per night.
We have stayed in many cottages on the island over the years, and we were very happy with our stay here. We found the cottages to be in good shape, the grounds were clean, and it had the required fire pit and pool (as requested by the "kids):))
We were also very happy that we could rent it for 3 nights, instead of one week, which seems to be what many cottage owners/resorts do now. We don't have one week with the teens anymore, so shorter rentals are important to us. ... this is a must for us, and we have passed the name of this property onto friends who are in similar circumstances.
We would definitely stay here again.
Your neighbours are close, but you still have some privacy. All of the cottages were arranged in a letter C, with a field in the centre and the pool. Perfect for getting to know people, if you would like, or watching your family during a game of badminton!
The only downside for us, is that we could not bring our little dog, as no pets are allowed here.....other then that...we enjoyed our cottage.

The cottage was spacious and clean. The outside of the cottage was really rough, but the interior was more than find. It had a nice flat screen TV with a lot of channels. It also had two washrooms. The bedrooms and the kitchen were also in good shape. My dad doesn't travel a lot and he was impress. Overall, the value was good.
