Minutes from everything on our to do list!! We stayed in a room in one of the cottages. Comfortable beds, clean and quiet.
We toured Anne of Green Gables- across the street and cavendish beach - down the road!! Two pools, laundry facilities, restaurant on site! Great prices!! Will be back!!

The rooms are very dated and the room next to mine had people in it that were cooking something all the time n the smell was so overwhelming that I could not stand to stay in my room for more than a hour or so at a time I notified management but nothing was done

We stayed in the newly renovated Gatehouse Suites, which were gorgeous. We had a queen sized bed, jacuzzi tub, full bathroom, fridge, and fireplace, as well as air conditioning. We loved it! We did the Romance Package they offer, which includes a bottle of wine, box of chocolate, Green Gables passes, and PEI Provincial Park pass. Very clean, modern rooms.

I stayed at Ingleside Cottages with my teenaged daughter and a few of her girlfriends on Cavy weekend. The staff could not have been more accommodating. The cottage was clean and a great size for us. The beds were comfortable and as a matter of fact, the girls said they had the best sleeps in them. We did slide the twin bed over to put an air mattress down so the girls could all be in one room. The cottage had just about everything we needed for our stay. It is slightly dated. The curtains could use an update as well as the couch but all were clean which is the most important aspect to me. There was a pool right in front of the cottage although it was getting a new liner and wasn’t ready for use which didn’t really affect us. The walls are a little thin as we could hear our neighbours next door. The cottage was like a semi. So i did stress a bit that my group would bother the neighbours by being a little bit loud but as far as i know, there were no complaints. We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends. I tried to add a short video but it won’t attach. I only have a pic of the kitchen.

We were a family of 11 that stayed here: (3 senior citizens, 7 adults and 1 child- we had 5 rooms). This may be a long review so I apologize in advance.

I will start with the positives:
1- location (near Cavendish beach, Anne of Green Gables, shops etc.)
2- The rooms were modern and a good size.

Before I begin with the negative I want to say that I understand hotels have their policies etc. but as you will read, you will see that our frustration is mostly with how they treated us.
When we booked this hotel (through Expedia) we searched for "pet-friendly" places. This place came up in our search and we did not see anything saying we could not have pets, so we booked. Upon our arrival, we were told under no circumstances are pets allowed. We explained the situation and we were told that if we are caught with a pet, we will be kicked out. The woman at the front desk said the policy is on their website. We told her we didn't look there as we booked through Expedia. She basically did not care. She said the reason why they do not allow pets is that they have staff members who have allergies. We told her the dog is hypoallergenic. Still a no go. But what upset us the most was that pets are not allowed because of allergies but yet when we walked into the office it smelt like smoke, she had just smoked in the office. So finally she said she would try to get in touch with the manager. She allowed 4 rooms to be used but not the one room that would have the dog. Upon entry into the rooms, we discovered that it wasn't even carpeted. It was hardwood floors. One of the rooms had red marks (similar to blood but we are unsure of what exactly it was) on the toilet paper. We brought this to the woman at the front desk attention and basically she said she found that hard to believe and we must have done in ourselves. While we waited for the manager, my sister in law took all our documents from Expedia to show her that no where does it say no pets allowed. Again, we were told that their policy is on their website. Fast forward to 2 HOURS LATER: we now had 2 senior citizens and their dog sitting in their car this whole time because they would not give them their room keys. At this point she tells my sister in law that she can get us a hotel that allows pets for the night, followed by the option that we can stay with the dog but it’s going to cost an extra $200. So we are now so upset, stressed and frustrated because 1- you are now allowing us to stay 2- it took you TWO HOURS to say that you can get us a pet-friendly hotel 3- this is extortion- most places charge 20-30 for pets per night and you are more than doubling this amount. After discussing this with the family, it was decided to just pay the $200 because staying at another hotel would only resolve the problem for one night (we were staying here for 2). The final straw was when my sister in law and brother returned to the office to say go ahead with the $200 only to be told "oh it's actually $200 extra per night". We were so upset but this was almost TWO AND A HALF HOURS after our arrival, a total waste of our time and our vacation. So we decided to pay. As the woman at the front desk was writing up the bill, my brother said to her that he wanted IN DETAIL on the receipt what exactly these charges are for and he wants it charged to his company card. As soon as he said this, the woman stopped and paused for a minute and then said here is the key to your room and we will deal with this bill tomorrow. The next day, they received a new receipt that looked like the one they had received when they paid for the room when we arrived except it said on it that if there was damage caused by the dog, then additional charges would apply.

There were more things said to upset us, however I felt these were the most important. We cannot believe how we felt after the TWO AND HALF HOURS. There was a woman and her husband who are from another part of P.E.I. staying here to celebrate their anniversary. The wife apologized to my sister in law and she said she was in shock at how we were treated. She also said this is not a good representation of how the locals treat people here. So to that woman I say thank you for your words.

They say a first impression is a lasting one and this hotel left a bad one. I also heard this quote once (not sure who it is by) but I found it fitting :

"People may forget what you say, people may forget what you did but people will never forget how you made them feel"

One more negative: they advertise that they have wifi- good luck with that. During our stay none of us were able to connect. The woman at the front desk said they have 4 networks. Only two came up for most of us. She also said that your best bet to get on would be late night or early morning when kids and teenagers are sleeping. This is false. We tried at many different times (ex: midnight, 5am, 7am, 7pm) and NOTHING!! This is why I checked off the no internet buttons when writing this review because to me not being able to connect is the same as having no internet.

So a friend and I booked this resort for its location as we are attending CBMF 2016 .. we booked in advance knowing that it's near impossible to get a place the closer it gets to July .. as I looked through my junk mail yesterday I discovered a email from Cavendish Corner saying that they had cancelled our reservation and we would be refunded with no real explanation so after a few attempts to reach them when they finally answered the phone they stated the room was under renovations and wouldn't be ready and the only help was offered was management told me to call the Quality Inn in Charolettown as they think they may have a opening .. (@ double the price and 30 mins + away) he did however tell me he had a cottage left but made no offer to let us stay there at any discount.. very poor customer service. . For a business who relies on word of mouth for a very short tourist season .. this is not good customer service . If I had not came across this email I wouldn't have known we had NO accommodations and arrived there with NO lodging. For further reference if there are room issues it's not only polite but expected that a phone call is made at least and circumstances be explained not sent in a empty email .

Stayed in the Annex and it is very dated. Extremely loud air conditioner. Door to room old & very hard to latch n lock. Bedding was damp.
Many rooms throughout this place were not ready until well after 5pm which made for very upset guests as check in is 3pm and in turn staff were stressed and unhelpful and it was extremely lined up & slow at the office.
They make you wear a bracelet & tell you that security won’t let you back on the property without it.
overheard front desk telling a guest that even though they booked for 3 days they couldn’t keep the same room for all 3 days & would need to move to another room after the second night - what place does that!
Would not return

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. The Resort at Cavendish Corner sold the motel and annex in April of 2018. Mr. and Mrs. Wood are no longer associated with the Cavendish Motel and annex. Although no longer associated, very sorry to hear that an accommodation in the area was not entirely up to standard. I'm sure that 2019 will bring improvements. Best regards, Doris The Resort at Cavendish Corner, Shining Waters/Ingleside

Very good location. The resort is very close to Anne of Green Gables museum. Minutes drive from the Cavendish beach. The resort offers free pass to all PEI parks but you need to return the pass to the main office after your stay.

This was a perfect location for exploring the Green Gables Shore and other parts of PEI. We stayed in mid-August and enjoyed our time. The staff were friendly and helpful and provided us with a pass for Green Gables Heritage Park. Our room was in the Motel Annex and which was very clean and we liked having the kitchenette. Plus when the kids went to bed we could sit out on the porch. The room did feel like it was sloped but I think that's the whole building and how it has settled. The "fitness center" is very outdated and did not have working A/C so that was a disappointment to us. I would suggest giving the front desk staff walkie-talkies to communicate with housekeeping. When we stayed housekeeping was short staffed and the poor desk clerk had to leave the desk and physically go to the room to check if it was ready. That didn't seem like the most efficient system to me. Also, as others stated the Wi-Fi was horribly slow but your on vacation and it's an island so that wasn't really the end of the world to us. Overall this was a good stay for our family and an excellent location.

I was hesitant about booking this hotel but the price was great and location was ideal. There are lots of lodging options in PEI, I couldn't believe the amount of cottages and inns. Hard to make a decision. The plus= pool which seems great but we didn't use, the location is fantastic lots to do around only 5 minutes from the PEI preserve company, toy store and new Glasgow lobster supper. Also lots of space to walk around resort and they have a large dining room. The price also is good. I would agree with the owners comment that the amenities for rural PEI standard are more than basic, albeit some do look a little outdated.
The cons: the wifi didn't work while we were there ( which really wasn't a big deal- it's good to unplug gir one night but maybe if you're staying longer that's a problem). The noise from an adjacent bedroom. In the morning I could hear the family's conversation and the kids screaming. beds were ok. Again we probably rented the cheapest room (150$) so it's hard to complaint.

Hello Katie, Sorry the rain kept you awake. We did have a couple of incredibly intense rainfall events during thunderstorms and it would have been noisy. It was the same at my house. Fortunately this happens very infrequently in Cavendish and we get very few complaints. It is difficult to find a way to stop the rain from hitting our metal air conditioners during a hard rain.
