Detailed Reviews
From the moment we arrived at reception our experience of the staff at this KOA was wonderful.
Alana booked us in , super friendly with us and the others there, efficient and quick. Awesome initial welcome. The reception is part of a wee store selling everything you could possibly need.
We were given a map to guide us to our campsite. We had a tent and we’re on site 165. This is a delux site and cost $86.
Each of the deluxe tent sites include a covered wooden deck/cabana with a big picnic table which has electric sockets and electric light.
This turned out to be invaluable as we had torrential rain for an hour or so . The roof of our cabana had a few holes so the water poured through those but there was still room for us to move our table and keep dry. Our site was a little sloped but still had good space for our tent and our vehicle.
We were in front of the play area which had tons of stuff going on for all the kids. Place was packed which was awesome. There is a large covered spot that they used for bingo that had an outdoor sink and cooking facilities. This was absolutely spotless and included washing up liquid too. Really nice touch.
The washrooms were close buy and again so spotless. So much care is obviously given to the cleanliness at this site. It was super busy and yet everything was beautifully maintained and clean.
There’s an on-site cafe where again staff were incredibly friendly. We had great coffee and the next morning had the best breakfast muffins ever. We had the bacon and fried egg ones and they were perfect.
On arrival we bought some firewood and instead of us bringing it to our site they offered to deliver it to us at 7 pm just in time to light the fire. Another lovely touch.
I genuinely have never met such a wonderfully friendly team. Every single member of staff that we came in contact with was smart, friendly and so very helpful.
I am absolutely gonna stay here again and so should you .

Really nice campground. It’s big - well over 200 sites - but we were there just after Labour Weekend, so it was fairly quiet. A mix of sites on open grass and under trees. Restrooms were clean and well maintained, although I wasn’t a fan of the showers that blasted water from a relatively high height, giving you no escape! The campground is set a long way back from the main road, so there’s no traffic noise. Easy walk to the Anne of Green Gables National Heritage Site just up the road.

The cavendish KOA offers everything we needed for a family vacay with 2 kids under 5 years old. Close to the beach and convenient to lots of tourist attractions, we could not have found a better spot.
Everyone who works here obviously loves their job. It’s like they all take ownership of the camp ground. There are daily activities that attract all ages, from outdoor movie nights, to a self led hunt across the campground to chocolate bar bingo!
The facilities are all beautifully clean and well cared for. The kids pool is great for the wee ones and their is a bigger pool as well.

Not a good experience at all. The WiFi is nonexistent and if you are from the states your plan won’t cover tv streaming.
The bathrooms are NASTY and showers are filthy. The check in process as to where to go was confusing and the little white card for the fat only half works.

We stayed for 3 nights this summer with our family. We tented and we’re close to the play ground which was very convenient as the kids were able to go and stay in eye sight to us. Pool was great as well. It’s also very central to everything fun to do in Cavendish We can’t wait to return next year!

We stayed four nights, sites are well maintained, bathrooms are dirty, smelled of urine. Often toilets plugged with toilet paper, garbage over flowing, there was a dirty tampon in the pool as well. Shower curtain was on the floor. Lots of stuff to do for the kids, but wouldn’t return. At checkout, tried to ask if able to accommodate us to leave a 5x8 atv trailer for two hours while we left for soccer game. After spending 4 days there, answer flat out no, no. No reason why, no “we can’t sorry”. Just plain rude. While checking in though service was good, but when asked to help us out, flat out no without reason. For the price per night for a tent site, wouldn’t recommend.

We enjoyed the campsite as it was well located and the people very friendly. We were delayed in arriving due to engine trouble and they were kind enough to allow us to arrive very late and actually escorted us to our site and helped us park our very large trailer with flashlights! Wonderful service for a road weary family complete with kids and pets. At first glance the site appeared small but we were able to put up our very large dining tent and there were a few trees for shade. The only drawbacks were that some of the activities were not available when my daughter was able to attend (ie petting zoo, wagon rides and kids' club) and the pool was so dirty (hairballs and oily sunscreen slick) my ten year old came out gagging! I would stay there again if I could have had assurance that the pool was cleaned regularly. We went in one day at the end of the day, so maybe morning would be better. I didn't have time to discuss the issue with anyone.

I have stayed at other campgrounds in the past that had at least some trees that defined your site and which also added a little privacy. I must also state that we tented. The people that stayed in the adjacent site with a trailer seemed to use all of their site and some of ours. They would even walk through our site while we were sitting around the table.
Dogs everywhere even on our site. I am not the owner of a dog.
To sum things up if you like no privacy and are a lover if dogs you will love this place. It wasn't for me. I must mention the bathrooms were clean and the overall campground was clean.
There are better campgrounds on the Island.

This is our second trip to KOA Cavendish and it is great for kids.
The Kids Kamp is great for the kids and lots of different things planned to keep them entertained on top of the usual pool, jumping pillow and playground. Pool has two areas one for really small kids and a larger pool, both get solar warming. Bathroom areas clean. Laundry area has large commercial machines and great dryers. Wagon rides usually jammed with kids and the weekly wet wagon ride a big hit with kids of all ages. Then it is close to other amenities in Cavendish area - beach, boardwalk etc. Beach day wasn't a good day as generally not able to swim due to jellyfish and the Nat'l park desk didn't have that on notices.
Despite a Kamp K9, dogs that bark aren't welcome. There were numerous dogs in the park and with kids running, babies crying and general fun being had by all there is a lot of noise even up to and after quiet time. Dogs bark at other dogs, yelling kids etc. We had dogs and yes they bark but we are very conscious of barking and don't believe in letting prolonged barking happen. Yet we were warned about barking despite this and so were several other groups.
We have stayed at several other parks with same dogs, kids etc and specifically asked people around us if our dogs were too noisy as we are very conscious of little dogs, big voices. We have otherwise been welcomed and reassured that they weren't a problem.
So if you have a dog that barks be forewarned you may not be welcome, and this is a busy noisy park so nervous dogs may get a little barky at times. Other dog people get this, apparently not so those only with noisy kids shooting cap guns, honking bike horns and 6 AM Tim Horton runs despite no vehicle movement until 7 AM rules.

The Cavendish KOA is the perfect family campground on Prince Edward Island. It is very much a family oriented campground. We knew we'd come back again when, during our first year in the morning, the cart drove around announcing, "Kids Kamp...everybody come to Kids Kamp" and the kids followed like the Pied Piper's mice. Mr. Steve and Ms. Faye run a wonderful program in the A.M. for kids where there's art, play, sports, fun, and yet manners are expected and respect shown. They may be the best part. The sites are clean and there are sites for tents all the way to pull-throughs for big rigs. There are small and large cabins on site, too. There is a pool and playground, petting zoo, outdoor movies, chocolate bar bingo, the list goes on. The hay rides are a delight and I won't give away the surprise. The bouncy pillow keeps the kids occupied for a long time. The campground is perfect for families. I feel my children are perfectly safe to experience the independence of running around on their own. On the practical side there is a store, laundry, clean bathrooms, free showers, and an outdoor sink for doing dishes, which one may not appreciate until camping at a site without one. It is super conveniently located adjacent to one theme park and on the same street as many more. It is across the street and a few minutes to Cavendish Beach as well.
