My husband, our 2 dogs and I stayed in cottage No. 4 from October 10-20, 2023. I was amazed at the interior of the cottage. The pictures on the website do not do it justice. It was very clean, well decorated and had everything you needed! The cottage has fridge, stove, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, whirlpool tube and so much more. It was 2 bedrooms with a king bed on the main level and I think it was a queen upstairs. There were also 2 pullout couches. There is no need to bring utensils, plates, cups, bedding, towels, dish soap. etc as it is all there. Leave your bath towels out on the porch in the morning and the cleaning staff will pick them up and leave new ones for you. If you would like the cottage cleaned and bedding changed, just call down the day before and they will be in to clean for you. Onsite laundry facilities where quite helpful during our stay. Each unit has a full size BBQ, picnic table and fire pit.

The pool and hot tub were being closed for the season during our stay so we did not try it out.

We truly had a wonderful stay and will be back!

This was our 2nd visit and already booked 2023. Excellent spot for families or groups. We were 6, 3 adults, 3 children and had lots of room in the A Frame. Kitchen was complete with microwave, dishwasher. And room for all of us to eat at table. ❤️❤️
The kids loved the pool, trampoline and playground. It is situated so most cottages have a view of the playground.
Lots of room to run and play outside and we even flew our new kites in the hayfield!
Sunsets...gorgeous! Firepits for all cottages. A propane barbecue. We even had air conditioning and a jacuzzi tub which the kids loved to enjoy after a busy fun day! Location is excellent! 5 min drive from Sandspit, Cavendish beach and boardwalk for shopping. So glad we found this lovely spot! Can't wait to return!

Everything you need. Very clean and great service. Pool with hot tub was a very enjoyable temperature. Own bbq and fire pit. Stayed in cottage 3 with 2 bedroom, 3 beds. Very comfortable and spacious for a bigger family. All was in great condition. Fire place, air condition and wirlpool tub was added bonus.

Terrible service, no respect or understanding. Just in it for the money. There are better places to stay in canvandish PEI. Don't stay here, they ruin our stay, experience in PEI.

We rented three cottages over 5 days. On day 4 my mother got COVID, we decided to leave for her safety and the safety of the other people. The manager wouldn't refund me for the day, and even re-rented our cottage that night. I called to discuss the situation, I asked her to do the right thing, she hung up on was rude and disrespectful.

She could done the right thing, they got there money x 2. Stay some where else. Pay extra, don't stay here. It's sad that PEI tourism is representative by business like this.

First, the central AC was an old window unit that was mounted in the side of the building and did not have the capacity to cool anything. As it was hot when we visited this made for uncomfortable nights when trying to sleep. As I could see from the other cottages, the "central AC" was identical in the other cottages. Second, the hot tub was not functioning. Third, the pool was very cold and I have a tough time believing it was heated. We've stayed at other cottages in the area and felt they were overall better value and experience. The staff were great though.

I do not usually take time to write a review after we return from vacation as we are pretty easy going. I did however feel different this time after returning from a 5 night stay at Swept Away cottages.
This was our 6th year returning and we always book for the following year on the day we "check out". We have had nothing but amazing things to say about this place. We felt it was a home away from home and the service was excellent.
When the business was sold in or around 2014 we started noticing changes but that was to be expected.
Then, this year happened...
Our first day went like this. We had to unload the previous guests dishwasher load. We didn't think too much of it as at least they were clean dishes. We had been at the cottage only a few hours. We had something roll under the couch and when my sister went to reach for it she quickly removed her hand with a look of disgust on her face. Her hand went through an accumulation of crumbs and anything you could imagine. So, in order to get the object, we decided to pull away the couch to get to it. What we found under that couch was not an accumulation of a previous guest, it was an accumulation of several guests for sure! Trust me, I'll spare the details! What did we do? We picked up the provided broom and dust pan and cleaned the entire living room floor. No, we didn't complain.
Then comes time to get ready for bed. We open the sofa bed and yet another surprise. The mattress cover had some of the items we found on the floor but to top it off, a dead insect. So we immediately closed the sofa bed and decided to use the couch as a bed. We took a blanket and covered the couch since only one person was sleeping there. Then the next person to go to bed opens up the blankets to find the white sheets stained with brown spots. There is no doubt that these sheets were cleaned. The only problem is that after everything we had found previous to this, it was very hard to feel like we were in a clean cottage and of course we all had a very hard time sleeping.
The office closes at 9 and in order to speak to someone, we would have had to get our call transferred to a cell phone. We don't like to bother anyone so we didn't want to call after hours. The next morning we proceeded to the office for 9AM but in order to communicate our issues we had to wait until 3PM. That was fine...
After we raised our issues, we did get new sheets very quickly. The only issue is that the couch was still very dirty so we called the office to borrow a vacuum. We were told it was broken but soon after someone from the office did come to clean it up.
Then comes time to "check out"...
We are there for 5 nights, got our quote on the day of "check-in" with details of amount owing and balance remaining after required deposit.
All of a sudden at "check-out" we are told that a staff made a mistake on calculation and that we are required to pay an extra 300$. This "mistake" was apparently noticed 3 days after we arrived but nobody thought it was important enough to mention it to us. We understand mistakes can be made but we had a written quote which nobody was willing to honor or meet halfway and when we asked to speak to the owners, we were told we couldn't speak to them due to a language barrier. It would have been nice to have someone acknowledge the issues we had at the beginning of our stay but instead we are told we need to pay extra. Sadly I think they chose to ignore what we needed to do in order to make the cottage acceptable for our stay. It is very unfortunate as we have had only great experiences there. We hope this was just a "bad year" and that they are able to pick up from here and make positive changes!

Swept Away Cottages strives to ensure our customers have an enjoyable stay. We feel we should to take the opportunity to address this set of issues. Firstly we accommodated at the last minute the very early arrival time of the customer which did not give the cleaning staff the normal time to put away the dishes in the dishwasher. We fully accept responsibility for the unfortunate mistake in regards to the sofa and bedding, this was an unacceptable incident which has been dealt with by the owner and the cleaners involved. It is policy at Swept Away Cottages to have contact numbers posted at on the door of the office for any situations that may occur during the hours when the office is closed, these are provided with the expectations that our guests will contact us with any issues that may arise. Our cottages are fully staffed from 9 am-9 pm daily, had any issues been made known at any time after arrival they would have been immediately addressed. We do not ask our guests to clean the cottages, and according to this review we addressed these matters to the guest’s satisfaction. An additional contact number was provided to ensure that in the case any other problems arose they could be dealt with. Our pricing for the cottages during the country concerts have not changed for the past several years, the mistake with the pricing was a error made at the time of check in at the office. As our pricing is known to our guests, it was our request that the guests pay the full proper amount that was due. We stipulated that this was a request and due to it being an office error had the customer chose not to pay the correct amount I was willing to accept the loss. I wish to ensure guests know that they are always available to speak with customers and deal with any issues that may arise.

I rarely write reviews regarding my travel experiences but feel compelled to write about my most recent trip.

Since 2011, I stayed at Swept Away Cottages every summer during the #CBMF weekend (a total of 6 visits). Obviously, my family members and I absolutely loved our cottage, its location, and the friendly amazing service we received year after year.

However, our experience with this accommodation began to decline in 2014 when the business was sold. Nonetheless, we returned to our lovely cottage every year and as recently as this past weekend. Unfortunately, our 5-night stay this year was extremely disheartening and disappointing.

First, our cottage was filthy upon arrival, e.g., food underneath the couch, stained bed sheets, crumbs/food, a dead insect, and stains on the sofa bed, etc... I must say that once staff was informed, these issues were addressed immediately.

Second (and the most outrageous in my opinion) ~ we were given our bill at check in, which quoted our remaining balance. At some point during our stay, staff noticed that they had made a mistake (charged us $225/night instead of $275/night). We were informed about this mistake at check out and were told that we were expected to pay an additional $300. Clearly, we disagreed and disputed this decision and eventually asked to speak with the owner. We were told that we could not speak with her (partly due to a language barrier) and that she had already stated that she would not accommodate or entertain any of our requests. Unbelievable!!!! I can't believe that a business owner in the tourism industry would offer such poor customer service!

It is very unfortunate to see this business decline. Despite my negative experience, I want to mention that the cleaning staff and the office staff (Lauren) were friendly and appeared to do their best to offer good quality customer service. It seemed, however, that their hands were tied by the owner's distorted and/or uneducated view of what good customer service is all about.

Hoping to find a different accommodation for CBMF2017!

Swept Away cottages are a great place to stay in Cavendish. We were there the end of May-early June and enjoyed our stay. Convenient to everything but tucked away from the main road. Very quiet. The stafff was wonderful. The cottage we stayed in -a 2 bedroom executive-was wonderful. The cottage was very clean, well stocked and nicely decorated. My daughters enjoyed the hottub and game room at night. We would definatley recommend it to anyone.

The accomodation was wonderful for a family of five. The cottages are spaced out so that you have room to yourselves. There is a pool and recreation area on site. The owners are very helpful. We would definitely go back!!

We stayed in a standard 2 bedroom cottage. The cottage was clean and equipped with all of the standard amenities. Dishes, pots, pans, mugs, wine glasses. Full sized fridge and stove, microwave, coffee maker, and BBQ. The grounds are beautiful and well taken care of. Lots of space between cottages for privacy and lots of green space for kids to play. My only complaint was the people who rented the cottage before us must have been smokers, because there were some cigarette butts scattered around the deck. This was a very minor inconvenience, and a quick sweep with the broom corrected the problem. Great location, close to all Cavendish Attractions.
