Travellers' Choice
Dalvay-By-The-Sea, National Historic Site of Canada, is an elegant Queen Anne Revival home built in 1895 by a Scottish-American oil tycoon. A summer resort hotel since the 1930's, Dalvay by the Sea is located at the east end of Prince Edward Island's National Park on scenic Dalvay Beach. There are 25 guest rooms; all are largely furnished in period antiques and all rooms offer a four-piece private bath. Each of our rooms is singular and unique. In addition, there are eight three-bedroom cottages located adjacent to the inn, offering vistas of the ocean, Dalvay Lake and acres of manicured grounds. The inn currently operates from May 1st - October, offering both accommodations and dining.

This majestic property in the Queen-Ann-Revival style is an authentic chapter of Canadian and PEI history that must be experienced. We stayed at Dalvay by the Sea for two nights in a Queen View room. This property dates back over a century but has been tastefully updated with modern facilities and accents. The room was spacious and attractively decorated, and the bed was very comfortable. The dining experience was exceptional (the seafood items are recommended) and the service was friendly and attentive. There are free kayaks, as well as bikes for hire. A pristine beach is a 5-minute walk away. Charlottetown is a 20-minute drive.

We loved every minute of our 3-night stay at Dalvay! Part of the magic was we didn't get in our car once - we walked beautiful Dalvay beach, cycled in the area (Dalvay rents bikes), and relaxed on site. The place is lovely, food and drink are tasty, and the staff are amazing - they took exceptional care of us!

Lovely one night stay at this beautiful old house. Welcomed by David, who was very polite and helpful, and served at dinner by Danielle, who was great. Food was fabulous. Short walk to the great nearby beach.

I had read about this hotel some time ago but never visited until the “Atlantic bubble” confined us to staycations. This hotel is a gorgeous old dame with wide verandas, beautiful wooden interiors, gourmet food, exciting cocktail menu, and warm and welcoming young staff. It is a 3-minute walk from the endless Stanhope beach and has tennis courts, paddle boats for the lake, and bicycles for hire to use on the national park’s dedicated bicycle lanes. Golf courses are all around. No TVs, although there is internet. The spacious library room has lots of traditional card and board games. Prince William and Kate stayed here several years ago. I would love to come back.

It is a one of a kind experience. The staff were so nice and helpful. Waitress came around a couple times to refill water and make sure we were all doing ok. The food was amazing, everything was perfect. Highly recommend and will definitely be coming back!
