Detailed Reviews
We mostly stay in cottages when we travel as it is more flexible for cooking, etc. I was pleasantly surprised to walk in to a VERY clean smell. The beds were wonderful and comfortable. We were met by extra towels when we were out(we had only left a message asking for towels so were unsure if the message was received) The water was a beautiful asset to our time as well. Overall a very lovely spot and we were very pleased. One thing I would bring next time would be a couple of fold up chairs. Even in the evenings, even though the couch is lovely and large, if there are 2 couples, would be nice to have another spot to sit. Thank you for a great experience!

This was definitely a delightful place to spend a night. Cabin was well equipped, comfy beds etc. our only complaint was that the on-site restaurant was not open Wednesday and Thursday…and any restaurant closeby was also closed. The pool was also closed for maintenance. We had a small dog with us and there was a 30.00 charge for her which I felt was a little high. But other than that a wonderful place to stay.

Lovely well maintained property. Beautiful view, grounds were keep very neat and tidy. Very nice heated pool with very clean bathrooms/showers. Cottages were very clean and well equipped. Having the restaurant onsite was very nice with good food. You could sit outside or inside and were greeted with a lovely young lady promptly to take your order. Amazing breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

This business is terrible to its employees. Speaking as a local, everytime I have been in there it seems there are different people working and I no longer need to wonder why. I and others have had to witness the owners scold their young employees out in the open for not working up to their standards when it is obvious they are going above and beyond. Don't be fooled by the services and amenities offered to guests when they don't know how to properly treat their own staff.

Response from LeslieS1395, Owner at Ocean Acres

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. I have spoken to my staff and business partners and have now received the full story. What you wittenessed was meant to be a private conversation and we apologize for that and we attend to pay much better attention to that. We strive to treat our young staff like family and we do go above and beyond to meet their personal needs. With casual hours and seasonal work we do have a lot for turn over for our staff as they move on with life and go back to school. If you wish to follow up with this complaint please feel free to email me at info@oceanacres.ca Respectfully, Leslie Swift Owner/Operator

The only complaint we had was that the two days were not enough for our stay! Tim, his family and staff were excellent. They certainly know how to run a successful business with genuine top-notch customer service at the forefront.
The cottages were clean, comfortable and well maintained. The property itself was lovely and it was easy to see that they took pride in everything there.
We had dinner in their restaurant, The Deck, and we could not say enough about how great it was. Liz, our server extraordinaire, was a delight. While she is not a member of the family, you would never know that because she was a natural and had all the positive attributes of outstanding service. And the food!!! All of our meals were fabulous and the prices are very reasonable. I had the Messie Bessie Steak Sandwich with sweet potato fries - absolutely amazing!
Tim, your hard work and that of your staff and family and pride in your business is to be commended. Thank you for helping us celebrate our silver wedding anniversary!

Ocean Acres is really a nice place, but apparently internet access is a problem in their area. This may not be an issue for your vacation habits, but if it is, talk to them before you make a reservation. Otherwise a very nice place - clean, quiet and nice folks. Murray Harbour is a little off the beaten path, but seemed to have all the essentials, but if that's what you like, you'll be pleased with Ocean Acres if you can get around the internet problem.

Air fryers versus deep fryers means better food. Seafood chowder and fish and chips were quality food. Open from 8 to 8 daily it is worth a meal if you are in the area. Hamburgers are excellent as well

This is just a review of the Restaurant at Ocean Acres... Firstly the property looks spectacular. My family and I were looking for a breakfast place that was still open at this time of year in the winter. So we stumbled upon The Deck Restaurant which is attached to the campground. There is a lot of potential here and is a shame that there was no care or quality put into the food. We so understand a cost efficient menu but what we were served was below par quality of even a macdonalds mcmuffin... If you want repeat customers please use quality ingredients. There were american cheese slices , on a store bought english muffin , a few hashbrowns barely a handful which we paid a dollar more for ... The island is known for great restaurants and yes even in rural areas. It pays to have a decent menu, it can be real simple but look at the ingredients that you have at your disposal! local, local , local, there is an amazing culinary school that you could use as a resource. We are all hoping that The Deck will refresh , awesome location, great friendly people but PLEASE update your menu . We will come back again and again if that happens.

We had an absolutely delightful stay in a cottage at Ocean Acres. The cottage itself was very enjoyable with two bedrooms with large, very comfortable beds, a full kitchen, bathroom, living room, and porch in a cozy package. All the amenities (heat, A/C, TV, WiFi, etc. included). The cottage overlooks the river/harbour. In the morning, we went to the main building, where we rented a paddleboat for an hour-long ride in the harbour (they also have kayaks, bikes, etc.) and then had a great breakfast on the Deck made fresh for us. There are laundry facilities, playground, and more. And the family that owns the place is wonderful - very friendly and helpful - and they even build a communal campfire each night where you can go and enjoy the fire and view the stars.
