Detailed Reviews
The Spa Eastman reopened after closing due to COVID.
I have not come for years, and it's a great experience. Even with social distancing guidelines, it is a fantastic day with my wife.
We took a day special with a meal and a treatment and we enjoyed it very much.

My husband and I stayed for a 5-night relaxation and fitness package in mid-Jan. We were seeking a vacation that would give us a week of positivity, relaxation, and health and that is what we found at Spa Eastman. We were greeted with slippers, bathrobes, and professionalism upon check-in. This spa offers most everything you would expect from a spa (check out their excellent website), but it is the service that sets it apart. Throughout our stay, the staff provided friendly, courteous, and personalized service, remembering our names and suggesting upcoming events. It is clear that everyone who works at this spa loves their job and wants you to enjoy your stay. The focus is about providing you with the tools and education to live a healthier life after you finish your spa visit. Staff have a sincere attitude; they really care. The spa's focus is an ideal blend between the therapeutic focus typically found in European spas and the fitness focus found in American spas. The only downfall is that spa is mainly french speaking, so we were unable to attend the workshops/seminars. However, in spite of this, all staff still make every effort to accommodate english speaking guests. If you are english speaking, I would suggest that your treatments be scheduled in the evening, or during the workshops/seminars, so you are able to take advantage of the many activities offered during the day. No doubt, you will find more luxurious spas in the world, but for the money, this one is hard to beat. The staff really made our stay a positive one and we did not experience an ounce of snobbishness here. Even the owner, introduced herself to us one afternoon when we were having tea and radiated a kind and positive attitude. All of our treatments, again, are professionally administered. The cuisine was excellent and there was lots of choice. I was surprised to find all of this at such a good value. We would highly recommend this spa.

It's an interesting place for an English speaker, since most of the program is in French. It's easy enough to do exercise classes or guided hikes in French, but any seminars we felt it a bit strange to take in French and ask for English, in fact, this would be sort of rude and entitled on our part. The spa grounds are lovely and well-maintained. We arrived and were told that our room was at a little house off the main spa compound. This didn't frazzle us, but when we arrived at the little house it was clearly not the upgraded room I had booked on Expedia. Thankfully, I had the confirmation that clearly stated two queen beds were to be in the room. The room we got had two twin beds, and it was drab. We felt like we were being punished. We went back to the front desk, and they did move us to another room without any fight, and the second room was lovely. In the same little house, but nearly three times larger and had a balcony. The real pain here was having to trek back to the main reception in order to get it resolved. Plus, there is wifi in the main building but none at all in the out building. Every morning, we had to plan to get up extra early to walk to the main building for activities and breakfast, and each meal, we had to walk back and forth. Perfectly acceptable when the weather is good, but the trails were still quite muddy from the recent change to spring weather. The food is not great, and some meals are better than others. Lunch was our least favorite meal, and unfortunately the time we were most hungry due to exercise programs in the mornings. The food is all gluten and dairy free. They don't believe in calorie counting here, and you can eat all you'd like at the buffet. They offer wine at lunch and in the evenings, but it is quite expensive, and so we went and bought wine for our room at night. Snacks are available 24/7 but are only in the form of seeds, apples and oranges. They didn't have pitchers of fresh water available at all, though they had multiple drinking fountains. The "water" available was maple tree water and seaweed water. Not really that refreshing after a lot of exercise. There are no rules here, but after a few days we really missed so much and wanted to be connected again. I didn't limit the quantity that I ate and left each meal feeling quite full, but still lost a few pounds, even partaking of the wine we had each night, as well. I would say this is a great place to disconnect for a few days, but make sure to get an upgraded room or you'll be sorry. I would request a room in the main building if I was to go back. The only spa service I had was a facial, but it was top notch and very enjoyable.

The spa facilities and sceneries are absolutely great. The food in the restaurant is also healthy and delicious.
However the big problem with this place is that eating in the restaurant is not very relaxing. In fact, it feels more like you're eating in a tavern rather than in a spa, and this is just not conducive to relaxation. The staff just lets people holler and scream at each other across takes as if this were a cafeteria. This is just not conducive to a relaxing stay.

The best part of the spa is the dining experience.
Massage was terrible, cold fan blowing on me and not the pressure I wanted but she told me "I will do it my way" yet I'm the one who paid for it.
I was told that if they could not accomadate the promotion from Fadoq the would credit me 80$ which did not happen.
No one told us or gave is the schedual of the courses offered during our stay or give us towels or robes. I had to go looking for them the next day.
No way to get snacks or drinks in mid afternoon and lemon water only by the indoor pool.
Not a great experience definitely not worth the cost .
Was handed a map upon arrival to figure out where our room was.
No fruits or nuts around like other spas.
extremely disappointed.

Hello, is anyone there?? Both my mom and I have been calling Spa Eastman for the last five days and left messages and no one has called us back. I am hesitant to book at a spa that won’t call someone back. How would i get in touch if my flight got cancelled or I needed to reach the hotel?? The fact that I can’t get a call back says something about the spa administration as noted in other reviews. Please call back interested guests!

+1
The pictures speak for themselves. The rooms advertised on their websites and not what you get. Save your money, go somewhere else. I have been ‘’upgraded’’ to another dirty and old room, after asking for mine to be cleaned… I have stayed at cleaner motels.

The customer service is terrible, the treatments are mediocre, the food is decent and the cleanliness is 2/10, which during a pandemic is unacceptable. We met other individuals who were checking out early due to the same experiences.
I highly DO NOT recommend this place, save your money because there is ZERO relaxation.

On a scale of luxury from one to ten, the Eastman Spa would score around 4. My husband and I spent a night there in late September, 2004, and were very disappointed. The positives are pleasant, attractive public rooms (lobby, dining room etc), good massage therapists and a pleasant staff attitude. Unfortunately the food was mediocre (perhaps a plus for those wanting to lose weight) and our room (in one of the many buildings situated at least a five minute walk from the main building) was so small that my husband and I had difficulty finding a place for our two, small carry on size suitcases and still be able to walk around the room.
In the lady’s locker room located in the spa, the towels were thin, shampoo was not available, the hairdryer was broken and slippers were not provided, although were for sale. Before we were given one of their threadbare robes (as well as the room keys), we had to sign a pledge at the front desk to return them or pay a fine. The dressing room sported a sign reminding guests not to “forget” and take towels home in their luggage.
Needless to say we won’t be back!

(i consider myself a seasoned traveller (i have been travelling on my own overseas more than once a year for the past 30 years). i just spent 1 night at spa eastman with an aging family member. the food is great, the place is well maintained, the location is quite isolated, far away from the town lake. the service is friendly, albeit many employees were in training, which gives you the impression that the turnover is high. apart from being friendly and warm, the service was not quite professionnal. it was a small room without any luxury, in line with a clean 3 star hotel. every personal service is at an extra. food was included but at 700$ / night, you might think there wouldn't be a surcharge for dessert, glass of wine (9$) or even replacing regular coffee with an expresso (2,25$). the elevator is not impressive, to say the least. in conclusion, despite the well maintained old facilities, it truly felt like a scam. there is just no way you can justify that amount of money for that kind of place.

Dear "serge t", I am glad to read that though you found the prices to be high, you did enjoy your quick stop at Spa Eastman. I can understand that in 24 hours, you most probably did not have the time to take full advantage of what our Destination Spa has to offer such as guided walks and fitness work-outs with trained kinesiologists and wellness themed conference and workshops given by our team of dedicated professionals. Because we do understand the importance of a budget, we offer five rooms categories to be able to accommodate different needs. As for the new student summer staff, please understand that for them to be well prepared for the high season we do have to start training now. We regret that this may have caused you any inconvenience. Regards, Jocelyna Dubuc
