My friend and I stayed in the second home of the Spruceholme Inn, during a road trip to the Pontiac. It was absolutely lovely! From the decor, to the toiletries, to the hot breakfast, we could not find a single thing to complain about. We also had dinner at the bistro and highly recommend it. On the night that we... More

This B and B is for those who love history, antiques and stepping back in time! During my stay, my room was The Cameron. It was basic, rustic and filled with the original furniture of the time period. The hot breakfast was delicious! No television but free wifi allows you to use your technology.

Jane Toller Pit-field, the great grand-daughter of George Bryson, purchased this building and has expanded it to provide space for conventions upto 400 people. She is determined to bring this little town back to life. Recently the television show on CBC "Still Standing" was here and did a show about the town.

The pride Jane has in her family history is so clear to see in her excellently restored family home, in the house each bedroom is an immaculately restored time capsule. In the carriage house there is a more modern spacious approach.

My husband and I stayed at the Spruceholme Inn for the first leg of our Eastern road trip. The town doesn't have a lot to do, but it's a very quiet and peaceful place to wander around and explore. The Inn was beautiful- well maintained, friendly staff, and were able to accommodate my husband and I with a vegan breakfast.... More

Welcome to Spruceholme Inn! Proudly under the new ownership of Jane Toller (Pitfield), great-granddaughter of the original owner of Spruceholme - George Bryson Jr.Once you have been greeted by your hosts, you will be treated to a walk through history, through the time of the great lumber barons and of the opening of the Ottawa River Valley. The rich heritage, the luxury and the stories all come to life as you meander through a mansion that has been meticulously restored to its original splendour. When you enter Spruceholme you are immediately transported to another time and place. In every room you will find pieces of the past, and of George Bryson's legacy. Look for his roll top desk and an autographed photo of Sir Wilfrid Laurier, a frequent visitor to his fellow statesman's home in Pontiac back in Fort-Coulonge's heyday. No matter which room you choose to stay in, you will find Bryson family heirlooms, exquisite comfort and peace. We invite you to share this living museum with us, any time of year. ... more   less
