We were highly recommended for this place. We made arrangements and call the front desk to make sure everything was fine. We never had an answer over the phone.
The next day we tried again, got an answer. We spoke to a lady who asked us to call back in 30 minutes to make sure all was settle. She never picked up the phone again. Never returned our phone calls either (my husband left a message) We called back, still no return of calls after leaving another message.
I understand we are in unprecedented times, but this made us change our mind about our stay, so we basically cancelled our stay there. If before we are there, they don't give us minimal customer service, what will it be over there?

The island is very small 1,300 people. You must take a ferry to get there (free). The La Roche Pleureuse is made up of motel-type rooms. Not much in amenities but the service in the restaurant was great. There was an entertainer who sang the nights we were there. Dancers from the island itself taught us line dances. Outside of summertime, the hotels close in October and reopen in May, there isn't much to do or see, but very relaxing.

We reserved a room for a special event in which we participated (Isle aux coudres Half Marathon). They had a special menu for the participants (pastas) that we tried. To be honest, it was ok, but not great. The dinner we had the day after was better, but not great either. Finaly, the room was not very clean, no A/C and very noisy but again, it was correct. My general appreciation is that we paid a bit too much for what we got.

We got there and they gave us a different room. Ended up being a single and double bed instead of two doubles. The room was filthy and when I went back to tell the administrator, she said “the chinese guy cleaned the room” in french “c’est le chinois qui l’a nettoyé”. It is the most racist comment I’ve ever heard coming from the customer service world. Very disappointing.

Stayed at this hotel last year forgot to post. Free ferry ride to start which is an added bonus from where I live. This hotel is dated like going back to 60-70's but so well maintained and clean it was nice to unplug for a couple days. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was very good..Fresh made. There is lots to do on property. This little island is a beautiful place to see with lots to do.

I own a tour company and brought a group of 46 adults for a 3 nights stay at this quaint and charming property early this Sept. The meals were delicious, the musical entertainment each evening was "fun"; the rooms were clean and comfortable and the service was A+. Everyone who came into contact with us was pleasant and able to understand and speak English, to our surprise and relief. We even had wifi access in the lobby. This is an individually owned property and the owner is often at the reception area. I cannot say enough about the La Roche Pleureuse. We will return again next year.

Quaint and lovely somewhat old fashioned inn. Stayed 3 nights with a chartered bus group. The island tour guide & inn employee, Judith, was delightful and funny. Wonderful views from the rooms. A nice place to unwind. Nice dining room - lovely meals. Evening entertainment in the lounge area was casual and fun.

My husband and I went here for a three night stay on a chartered bus tour. We enjoyed the trip very much. The view is awesome. Yes, the rooms aren't as up to date as you would find at other hotels but that is intentional. It was a nice relaxing trip. The food was excellent. The staff was great especially Judith. She spoke good English and was a great tour guide. We totally enjoyed the after dinner entertainment with Michele. He played extra time for us every night. We really enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a place to get away from it all, this is it. Oh yeah, and the scenery is AWESOME

Stayed here in cabin 51 for two nights. It was kind of US 1950's motel type cabins built around a central wooden building housing restaurant and hotel reception.However.....said cabin 51 though simple and with rather dodgy tv reception looked staight out onto the mighty St.Lawrence river or Fleuve St.Laurent as they call it hereabouts and was only a few metres from a lovely terrace where one could take coffee or other beverages and enjoy the same beautiful view whilst relaxing in a chair and perusing either books, papers or fellow guests."My word... isn't that Doris Day over there with that Rock Hudson chappie?".Well it had that kinda feel about it.We were on the Ile aux Coudres(island of hazelnuts) and the ferry from the North shore was regular and free so why not come on over and take a look. The restaurant ,as we found out,did good food for dinner and breakfast and begod there were even some elderly types line dancing when the musician got started after dinner. This is a gentle hotel owned by a charming Frenchman from Najac i think, which is in the lovely Aveyron departement in France. We had the good fortune to meet him for a short chat.It is true that the cabins(ours anyway) were slightly dated but what does it matter if they are clean, have hot water, comfortable beds, lovely surroundings in the grounds and on the island itself and oh yes ...that view over the St.Laurent.The hotel also has a spa and an outside heated pool and is open from May to October.Come and pick some nuts yourself. You may be smiling rather than crying like that rock and its unlikely legend.

The hotel was old but the rooms were nice, small but comfortable. The food was good ,small portions and limited selections. The view was spectular and my room had a porch, quite charming. The entertaintment was a lot of fun, dancing and karaoke. My group of over 40 seniors and the staff were the best.Judith (miss every thing) our guide around the island and at the hotel was the great. She made sure we had a good time. This will be a treasured memory.

Do rooms have hair dryers ? Mini fridges ?
Answer from 3Hondas
Nashville, Tennessee64 contributions73 helpful votes
I think I saw a hairdryer but I did not use it. There was a mini fridge and coffee maker. I brought bottles of ice tea and took it with me as the grocery is very small and doesn't have many items. You can't take fruit, meat or plants into or out of Canada. You have to get your ice from the bar or the waitress in the dining room so take an empty water bottle with you to the meals and they will gladly fill it for you. The waitresses and food was exceptional as everyone commented on that.
