We were fortunate to choose this boutique heritage hotel just outside La Malbaie centre. It has been modernised in an elegant way,There is a financial incentive to reserve directly with the hotel rather than through a third party. We chose a standard room on third floor - sloping roof and dormer window - small but very cosy yet reasonably priced for what was a two night stay where we would be absent during the day. .Importantly the mattress pillows and bedlinen were of high quality. There was a coffee machine. The only drawback there was no lift. The breakfast was very reasonably priced CAN$17 per person for a sumptuous and generous breakfast. With a forfait you paid the same price for an exceptional Sunday brunch
The service was spectacular, attentive and professional. The logistics were clearly superior to many check-in and other experiences at a short stay. Everyone from host, reception to wait staff knew we were staying for a night that included a dinner and a breakfast. One friend could not come at the last minute, and they did not miss a beat. The invoice was re-adjusted upon check-out! The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The restaurant on site was outstanding with professional wait staff, who demonstrated both knowledge and passion about their menu. The menu was a fixed 5-course menu with diverse selections of meat, seafood, and vegetarian dishes with wonderful flavours. Check out the menu before coming! And if you're staying at the hotel, the price for the meal .... wait for it .....$75! Value and indulgence at the same time. …
Fabulous accommodations and cuisine. Beautify setting, walking distance to other restaurants, and museums, art galleries. Our meals were excellent, with efficient service. Our room was impeccable, beautifully and tastefully appointed. Comfy bed. Friendly pleasant staff.
We have been coming from NH to La Malbaie for the last 6 years and Chez Truchon is our FAVORITE restaurant!! Lets start with the food....we usually choose the 4 course dinner for $42 canadian and the quality and taste is so delicious!! They have a extensive wine list and our favorite is La Vendemia which you cannot find in the USA. We have favorite servers Michael and Paul who work so hard to make one's dining experience truly memorable!! Also, they have a great fireplace to dine by and the servers are very attentive to make sure the customers are comfortable sitting by the fireplace. They even speak English and have English menus which is very helpful:). This restaurant deserves to be number one in La Malbaie and we look forward in coming back every year to dine at this number 1 restaurant in our book!! …
We booked a room with river view. The view came from a little break of a cross street house and a tree so you hardly can see anything. Not talking about, you need to open all the curtains to see outside. While you open all the curtains, there is a balcony around and every hotel guests can be there which makes the rooms has no privacy at all. See the picture attached, the rooms are right behind the common area balcony. The hotel is a remodel from an old house so everything is small. However, people are friendly, the room is very well decorated, and super clean. We went for the downstairs restaurant which they broadcasts served G7 spouses. After they served my husband’s French onion soup with beef barley soup with a peace of cheese bread on top. We felt we had enough.
The rooms are very clean and modern. The bathroom is nice and convenient. All technologies are updated. Their breakfast is delicious and made of local products. The service is superb. I would highly suggest you to come here.
We had a late reservation and we were given a room at the third floor and it was fantastic ! The room was large and very well decorated ,everywhere was spotless ! Even better we discorer that being at the top floor ,it was very quiet even with a full restaurant. Very interesting place to discover ,don't hesitate to stop in .
We really enjoyed our petite table d'hote dinner. I had the Beef Wellington that was tender, cooked to perfection and accompanied by crispy fries and delicious vegetables. The carrot, green beans and beets tasted like freshly harvested vegetables from my organic garden in the Eastern Townships! In the middle of the winter we enjoyed the full flavour of top quality vegetables. The green salad was dressed with a dressing that tasted like roasted vegetables. It was simple, unusual and delicious. My partner had the maple flavoured mignon de porc that he found tender and very tasty. He also especially appreciated the vegetables that accompanied his dish. We liked our dessert the least, only because we were very full from the generous portions of our meals and were not quite ready to savour a very sweet chocolate brownie studded with slabs of white chocolate and garnished with whipped cream and fruit. We did finish every crumb though! The service was impeccable throughout, discreet and attentive, the timing of the dishes perfectly adapted to the pace of our feasting.…
My friend and I stayed here for one night. The room was exceptionally comfortable, modern amenities, very plush! We dined here also and had perhaps the best meal of our our entire Quebec vacation. My memories of La Malbaie are wonderful, mostly because of our stay here.
This place exudes class from the moment you walk in! Set back from the main road and the river, the Chez Truchon is an elegant building with a well-manicured lawn and colourful garden. Whilst the smart houses across the street make an uninterrupted view of the St.Lawrence impossible, you do get glimpses of the river. I recommend requesting a front facing room on an upper floor. The first floor boasts a shared all-round terrace ideal for relaxing on sunny mornings or warm summer evenings. Although famous in the area primarily as a restaurant – hosting amongst others the Mays and the leaders’ wives during this year’s ‘G7’ meeting – it offers very comfortable accommodation. We chose one of their Tourelle rooms which had a very comfortable double bed, dressing table, couch and roomy wardrobe together with a huge ground-to-floor mirror. The accompanying bathroom contained a bath, separate shower, and sink with the toilet usefully located in a separate tiny anteroom. The breakfasts (which may be taken on the veranda if weather permits) are both substantial and of very high quality. In addition to various bread options and the usual tea/coffee, the cooked offerings are superb – omelettes, porridge, ‘full-English style’, as well as Canadian pancakes with maple syrup of course! Mind you, you have to get used to the Canadian(?) practice of everything coming together on your plate, including some much appreciated fruit. We only ate dinner there once which, whilst it was very good, was very expensive. Parking space is more than adequate. Service is hospitable and obliging although there was no help with bags. A thoroughly professional operation.…
