Built in 1901 on a promontory overlooking the St. Lawrence River, l'Auberge sur la Côte welcomes guests with beautiful views of the cliffs at Pointe-au-Pic and the breathtaking serenity of the mighty river. Once the Binsse family's summer retreat, the house was transformed into one of the coziest and most romantic inns in Charlevoix. Intimate, comfortable and rustic in turn, the Inn's rooms guarantee visitors an unforgettable stay. L'Auberge sur la Côte is the last true inn of the region because of its authenticity and attention to details. Visitors can see it, live it and taste it: romantic suites with private bath, a dining room dominated by a huge stone fireplace, a living room with stylish rattan furniture and a lovely glass-enclosed terrace where visitors can enjoy breakfast while basking in the glow of the mighty river, well-tended lawns...Here, you'll find warmth and beauty!

What a beautiful place! The owner and her staff are simply wonderful! Welcoming and sweet. Loved our room, enjoyed breakfast facing the St-Laurence, and also had a drink there each night before dinner. We plan on coming back this winter to enjoy another side of this breathtaking paradise!

One never knows what to expect. Because of COVID-19 check in is always at 4:00 p.m. Right away you know the venue is practicing the protocols. This place was immaculate. Masks worn etc. The room was lovely. The owner bought the place three years ago. She has done a first class job. If you eat everything on offer at breakfast, you will not need lunch. If ever in the area again, we would stay here…as you should when you visit.

We stayed in September and landed in the rain to the smell of a wood fire burning in the lounge with great big comfy sofas and chairs. Our room was a smaller, budget conscious room and so this beautiful living room/lounge on the main floor was wonderful. Lise encouraged us to use it. There were other rooms available as well, but since it was chilly and damp, this was perfect. We enjoyed our evenings by the fire chatting with the other guests. Lise, the new owner is very brave to take on the challenge to run the inn year round. She has a delightful personality and is very competent. She made wonderful recommendations for places to visit and restaurants to enjoy. Breakfast was generous and fresh, and a very nice variety to suit anyone's preference. We wish her all the best and would definitely return to experience the beauty of the Charlevoix region.

Lovely Inn with nice proprietor (Lise). Good recommendations for close by excellent dining. Accomodations comfortable with jetted tub in the room opening to a quiet garden. Breakfast as advertised,a simple continental with multigrain bread for toast ,hard boiled eggs, yogurt, fruit, cereal, coffee and juice. Only 1 small recommendation......amenities such as high quality bar soap. Often people don't carry this on vacation. Our stay was relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. Location gives easy access to National Park and easy access to quaint Charlevoix river towns

The hôtess was quite nice. The place is really well situated and the house is beautiful, unfortunately some area, as the spa, need a good clean up and up grade. The room we had was way Below expectation for the Price. Maybe because we reserved at the last minute and got the last one. But à room with a gray industrial, not so clean, carpet doesn't fit with this type of old house. Room no 11 i believe dont book this one. Breakfast was way bellow what you should expect, with no hot meal. Only what you would normally do before going to work not more. It's a new management hopfully it Will improve because the site and house are wonderfull

Hi. It was nice meeting you. We take all our customers input in consideration as we strive to improve our clients' experience with us, and some upgrades to the flooring in the room you occupied are planned for the Fall . As for the breakfast, we advertise a continental plan, and as such, I believe the variety of breads, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cheese etc. more than satisfies our stated engagement to our clients. I am sorry you did not find it to your satisfaction. Thank you for taking the time to write! Lise

I was fortunate to have stayed here with work colleagues during the month of June 2018 Chantel and Ed are the most fantastic hosts. Due to our flights and transportation the last part of our group arrive at 2am Chantel was up and got us settled as she knew we would be tired The n cat morning she was up to greet us and had a fantastic breakfast prepared before we headed out as this was a working trip Our rooms were always clean and impeccable. We would come back to find treats on our pillows or small little messages that would make us smile. We were always made to feel at home as if we were part of the family. I would highly recommend this places as the place to stay if one is fortunate to be in La Malbaie where it be for business or pleasure. I know our whole team enjoyed it Merci Chantal and Ed as you made our stay perfect.

Lovely old house, respectfully renovated, with awesome view over gardens to the St. Lawrence River. Best hostess ever, terrific breakfast in sunny garden room, great comfy but spacious bedroom with water view. We walked into town to great restaurants: Charlevoix is full of things to do, but come home to this place! Hope the dining room opens again for dinner, too.

Meeting Chantal was worth the price of the room! We so thoroughly enjoyed our stay with this total gem of a proprietress. The BnB is lovely; a beautiful view of the St. Lawrence with a large backyard seating area. Our room was very large, clean and with a good size shower in the bathroom. The shared living spaces are great-- a big living room and a glassed in porch. Wifi was strong and fast. Chantal's breakfasts were made with care and were delicious. Walking distance or a very short drive to town and restaurants. Chantal is a gem--she is so interesting, warm and helpful. We loved speaking with her about Canada and her adventures. She speaks French and English. We didn't want to leave but had a plane to catch. We want to return!

It was a last minute decision to visit Charlevoix in Quebec, therefore the hotel reservation was done the last minute as well. Based on other people's evaluation (medium) we decided to take the risk ,because it was only for a week end. to our surprise, it is a beautiful location, quiet, very nicely/tastefully built. service very good. a very causy place . I would for sure go back and honestly plan to stay for a week. It is highly recommended

Hi, thanks a lot for your last minute lovely visit :) I am really happy to know you like it here. I take advantage of your comment to let people know about star rating. Yes you are right I do have a medium rating, this is because their criteria are the same for every hotel in the same category they judge you belong to. Wikipedia wrote "Some consider this disadvantageous to smaller hotels whose quality of accommodation could fall into one class but the lack of an item such as an elevator would prevent it from reaching a higher categorization. In recent years hotel rating systems have also been criticized by some who argue that the rating criteria for such systems are overly complex and difficult for laypersons to understand. It has been suggested that the lack of a unified global system for rating hotels may also undermine the usability of such schemes. " As being a B&B of more than 5 rooms they categorized us in a same level of our neighbor the Fairmont hotel. They are following a grill to evaluated hotel that doesn't include staff attitude or the site beauty and if the inspector doesn't like you you will have to work harder. In fact I look at it and decided I never going to take their rating in consideration for myself. They do their job and I do mine. To me TripAdvisor, lonely planet, Eyewitness travel etc...is what I used when I travel to decide where I will stay cause this is rating from the real judge...customers!! They also look how many outlet plugs you have for phone, computer etc. We are not a conference center and people come here not for work but to disconnect of it ! Our building is 115 years old I don t think we will take the nice wood or stone wall to rebuilt it with drywall only to met star rating standard by offering special outlet to plug phone. We do have electricity so we can plug it anyway and we do not encouraged corporate people to stay here as we want a stress free environment. I want my guess enjoyed REAL SIMPLE LIFE and I will never have tv here so I never going to be a 4 or 5 stars for sure. They look at how many night stand and desk you have in a room and if the mirror is big enough following their measurement...etc..They are comparing a building of 115 years with new building ...witch is for me incomparable. It is the customers review and comments I trust they are my star!! I think you should know that our evaluation with B.com is 9.2/10 we been with them for 3 years now with Expedia, hotel.com, is 4.7/5 We bought the Inn in spring 2013 and we tried to improve all the time as we want you have a memorable stay with us. My philosophy is that people need a brake of standards and up-tide official attitude they only need a place where they will feel welcome for something else then their money and to me you are a human being not a number. Thanks for all and can t wait to see you again! Take care and have a wonderful winter xxxx

The auberge itself is a perfect home away from home. The owner, Chantal, is very present and charismatic. She goes beyond the call of duty to ensure that your stay is as pleasurable and comfortable as possible. The auberge has a classic cottage feel. Couldn't have chosen a more relaxing environment for our weekend getaway. We will definitely be going back. Francis & Tara
