My husband and I first discovered this magnificent auberge back in the summer of 1996. We were recently married and were travelling to Lac St Jean for my husband's brother's wedding. I had wanted very much to visit the Charlevoix region and it was a wonderful experience and we made it a mini honeymoon. We then went again about 6 years ago with our children when they still young. And now we went again during the first week of July. It was still the same as when we first visited 26 years and still the same owner. The rooms are still delightful. The breakfasts are still magnificent. This last trip we stayed twice - our destination this year was MANIC CINQ the enormous dam north of Baie Comeau. To break up our trip from Ottawa we stayed our first night of our journey at the auberge and then on our last night on the return trip home. The first visit we had amazing crepes with a strawberry compote for breakfast. The second visit we had superb fluffy scrambled eggs with herbs from their own garden and locally baked bread.

I highly recommend a stay - the price is extremely reasonable when compared to some of the other auberges in Cap a l'aigle and Malbae - and their breakfasts are far superior to a breakfast we had at a large 'highend' auberge in the area where the breakfast was horrible and we had to pay $23 each for that while here at the Auberge La Mansard the fantastic breakfast is included in the price of the room.

Spent a few nights at La Mansarde in late July. Everything was great. Extremely clean, large room with fridge and, in our case, separate entrance and terrace. Great breakfast included in rate which could be had inside or outside on the porch. Service was excellent, friendly and all questions and special requests were handled well.

Located in Cap a l'Aigle which is just outside of La Malbaie. The area is very scenic with great views of the river while walking down the street yet only a 5-10 min drive to La Malbaie for restaurants, groceries, shops,...

Overall, it was an excellent stay. and already reserved a return trip. Strongly recommend.

We had a big room with sitting room on the second floor overlooking nice garden and the river in the distance. Great viewing of whales at the small nearby marina and near the lilac and sculpture garden at Cap a l'aigle. Included breakfast was ample.

We stayed one night in a superior queen room that faced out onto the front yard and driveway. The room was very clean, and had a queen bed as well as a double bed on the other side of a partial wall - lots of space. Very nice linens on the bed. The auberge is a century year old large home, and the floors are interesting (and quite creaky in spots!). There was a sink in the room, and a separate bathroom.

Our hostess was very friendly and provided us a breakfast that was delicious, and plentiful. We had scrambled eggs that were nicely presented. Plus, there were lots of breads and jams.

The auberge is about a 20-minute walk from the local marina where there is a nice restaurant right on the St. Lawrence, and where you can whale watch from chairs that are provided (we saw several whales).

If you plan to stay here, you should note that you cannot see the St. Lawrence River from it.

All in all, we had a very nice stay.

We stay in this b&b only for 1 night and it was really fantastic.
We had a big room, very clean and comfortable. Also breakfast was superb:a crepe with blueberry.
It is in a quiet position, but near the town.
I recommend it!!

This charming little house was a great find. We stayed in room 8, which had a private patio, giving onto the gardens. The room was decorate with good traditional style and had a private bathroom. Do not expect a TV nor 5* comfort. But do expect a nice garden, relaxing evenings on the porch, a few good restaurants in walking distance, friendly owner, and a wonderful home-made breakfast with edible flowers from the garden. We met repeat guests at breakfast. Just too bad that we were passing through - we should have stayed there for at least one more night.

150 year old beautiful Quebec farm house with lovely quaint rooms, all with private bathrooms though not all en suite. Some rooms have a private patio some a view of the St Lawrence (you have to ask for this). It is a "get away from it all" type place - i.e. no TV in the room etc.. but all had hair dryers and were very clean. Breakfast was lovely and included fruit salad, juice, some home cooked banana breads and cakes, toast and some sort of cooked egg dish - diffferent one every day. At certain times of the year you can eat at the auberge and judging by the breakfast I expect it would be very nice. La Mansarde is in a quiet area located a 5 minute drive from shops and restaurants in La Malbaie, not really walkable as along a main road without pavement.
La Malbaie itself has a range of restaurants and we found some great ones in the Pointe-au-Pics area.
We found it a great place to explore Charlevoix area and it was under 1 hour to get to Baie St Catherine/Tadoussac for whale watching. I highly recommend this charming Auberge as long as you are not looking for all mod cons and are after tradional Quebec charm in a quiet place. The auberge owner is very friendly and chatty and will organize whale trip for you. One caveat: the owner speaks very little English so brush up on your French!!

We stayed one night in the 'suite' which was 2 rooms, 2 bathrooms and a small living room in a over century year old large home.

The owner was very friendly and helped us plan our day and made great suggestions for dinner.

The beds in the rooms were OK. Not great, just OK. Bathrooms were small but more than functionnal. The shower stall is small, very small. It was ok for me, but my husband said he felt 'claustrophobic'. Accomodations are very clean.

Some reviewers complained of noise from the road. I did not hear it all and it did not bother me at all nor did it my husband and kids.

Breakfast was delicious, more than enough. We had bread pudding and fruit filled pancakes. Plus, although I didn't have any, there were lots of breads and jams.

All in all, we had an excellent, albeit short stay.

This lovely large century old B & B had many rooms, but it was all so well appointed and planned that we never heard anyone else. The floors were of old polished wood, well maintained..Our party of 3 had a suite of 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living area and private entry to the suite from the hall (second floor). It was such a surprise to see four other tables occupied at breakfast. This meal was outstanding.....in quality and service. Friendly and welcoming hostess/owner., who recommended a place to eat dinner the first night, right on the water. Definitely we would return!

Had a beautiful room with our own private deck overlooking the garden. Breakfast was amazing!! Room was recently renovated and very clean. Only a 5-minute drive into town so location is very convenient. Highly recommend this B&B if you are in the area.
