We rented the Fairlight cabin for a group of friends: 11 adults and 9 kids, and fit easily. What a beautiful place. Wonderful views, hiking, wildlife, and boating. The very large cabin is well thought-out including the kitchen/ dining arrangement, some recreation spaces downstairs, and a wood-burning hot tub outside with robes and towels. High quality materials and large rooms= you don't have to hear everyone (ahem 9 kids!) We got the floating sauna... amazing! It is very remote and private. A much-needed, relaxing experience.

We are delighted to hear about your fantastic experience at Kenauk Nature, particularly at the Fairlight cabin, and we sincerely appreciate you choosing our destination for your group getaway. Creating an environment where everyone can enjoy the breathtaking views, hiking, wildlife, and boating is exactly what we aim for. Your description of the well-thought-out cabin, including the kitchen/dining arrangement, recreation spaces, and the wood-burning hot tub with robes and towels, is truly gratifying to hear. We are pleased that the high-quality materials and spacious rooms provided the comfort and privacy needed for a large group, especially when dealing with the joyful energy of 9 kids. It sounds like you made the most of your time, including the unique experience of the floating sauna, which is indeed something special. Thank you for sharing your positive feedback, and we hope to welcome you and your friends back to Kenauk Nature for more unforgettable moments in the future.

This was our 5th stay at Kenauk, but the first time in Wilson chalet. It was the largest cabin we’ve ever had, and if anything we wondered if it might seem a little large for the four of us and not in the spirit of Kenauk with solar lighting and electricity. This was not the case at all. The cabin was spacious but perfect for our needs, with the added benefit of additional bathrooms (including one amazingly with a proper bath). Gone are the gas lights, in favour of solar powered LEDs, which saves a lot of scorched fingers! The ability to charge your phone etc, even if you cannot use it was useful.

The cabin had two bedrooms downstairs, one with a king bed and one with a double/twin bunk. Upstairs was a loft with three singles. A huge living area downstairs and a seating area upstairs, in addition to the screened porch at the side gave us ample living space. The games area downstairs was nice for a late night game of pool, or if it had been rainy (which luckily it wasn’t). Outside at the front was a small firepit area that we didn’t use much as we couldn’t get the firepit lit, but the main deck at the back was so amazing we used this all the time for eating and lounging. It was really nice to have somewhere to sit at night but that wasn’t completely open to the strange rustlings in the undergrowth! The only issue was the BBQ which we couldn’t get to work fully. Down a flight of steps is the dock area with two single person kayaks, a canoe and three rowing boats. The canoe was by far our favourite and we wished there had been two as we had to take turns in going out two people at a time.

My only suggestion for improvement would be the provision of a water dispenser as you don’t really want to drink the water as it has a weird smell, and it seems counter intuitive in a place like this to bring along a lot of water in single use plastic bottles. It broke my heart to have to decline the invitation to rebook for next year, but we are already planning a trip in 2024 for my 50th birthday! Every time we stay here, we wish we had stayed longer.

Kenauk has always been a really special place for us, and somewhere we dream of when we are at home in the UK. This stay only made that feeling stronger.

Thank you so much for this complete review, We're delighted to know that you picked Kenauk Nature for your 50th birthday. Be sure to mention it to our team when booking! Your comment for the water is noted, our chalets have water softener systems to eliminate the taste. Sometimes they need to be fine tuned in order to work more efficiently. Same for the grill, we notified our maintenance team to make sure that the next guests can fully enjoy it! Thank you again!

Family of 4, 2 adults, 2 teenagers, and dog enjoyed our stay in the Lynx tent. Comfortable, roomy, and well equipped for camping, just bring food and drinks. We stayed dry during a day-long torrential rainstorm (Quebec rainfall record!) happily playing board games inside under the solar powered lights. Beautiful location, we enjoyed swimming, canoeing and kayaking in the lake. Only complaint was the broken panel in the outhouse roof that leaked cold rain down your back in the middle of the night! It is a long drive from the main gate, so don't plan to go back & forth frequently.

Thank you for sharing your experience! We're delighted that your family (and your dog!) had a great time in the Lynx tent, despite the record-breaking rainstorm. It's wonderful to hear that you stayed cozy and made the most of your time with board games, swimming, and enjoying the beautiful surroundings. As for the outhouse roof — we appreciate you bringing this to our attention, and we’ll address it promptly. We hope to welcome you back for another memorable stay, with hopefully more sunshine next time! 😊🌲

My daughter and I spent one week at Des Pines chalet and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were excellent providing excellent service prior to our arrival and during our stay. Due to the remote location there were no Covid concerns and all items in the chalet were properly sanitized before arrival including individually sealed dishes, soaps, kitchen supplies, etc. The fishing (mostly 3-4 lb. large mouth bass) was excellent both off the chalet dock on the river and at White Fish Lake. Highly recommend renting an electric motor for the row boat, makes the fishing on the lake much easier. Overall a wonderful experience and great way to spend some vacation time with all the natural beauty that Canada has to offer.

From the moment we arrived at Kenauk Nature, it was clear we were in for an extraordinary experience. Nestled amidst pristine wilderness, the chalet we rented was a perfect blend of rustic charm and modern comfort, ideal for our group of families and friends.

Accommodation: The chalet was spacious, ensuring that each family had ample privacy, yet designed with communal areas that were inviting and cozy. The bedrooms were comfortable, each with picturesque views of the surrounding nature. The kitchen was well-equipped, making meal preparation for our group a breeze.

Activities for Kids: Kenauk Nature was a paradise for the children. They were thrilled with the outdoor adventures, from kayaking on the serene lake to hiking through the lush forests. The highlight for them was the wildlife spotting – we even caught a glimpse of a deer at dawn!

Group Activities: As a group, we enjoyed the array of activities available. Fishing in the well-stocked lakes was a hit, and the friendly competition of clay pigeon shooting was a unique experience we all cherished. The evenings were spent around the firepit, sharing stories and making memories.

Service: The staff at Kenauk Nature were exceptional. They ensured our stay was comfortable and were knowledgeable about the area, giving us great tips on how to make the most of our stay.

Overall Experience: This trip was more than just a getaway; it was an opportunity to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of daily life and reconnect with nature and each other. The tranquility of the surroundings, the comfort of the chalet, and the variety of activities made this an ideal destination for families and friends looking for a special retreat.

This was our second visit to Kenauk and it never disappoints!
This time we stayed in one of the brand new cottages, Baie Noire for a long weekend. The cottage is on it's own little inlet on Papineau Lake and it makes it very peaceful. Kayaks, canoes and boats are provided with the chalet, but you can do as much or as little as you want. It is the perfect way to detox from all your devices and enjoy nature. The kitchen is fully equipped, all you have to do is bring your own food and beverages.
We felt very at ease staying here during the current Covid-19 pandemic, as the Lodge wraps all the cutlery, crockery , salt and pepper shakers, toiletries etc. in sealed individual bags that we opened up. That eased our minds that nobody had touched anything that we would be using. They really went above and beyond.
We will definitely be back for a 3rd visit!

Great first experience in the Heron Yurt, we really enjoyed it.
The service was impeccable, the place was clean and everything we needed was on site. The yurt is magnificent and very well built.
Despite the humidity and cold outside, the wood stove and gas heater managed to keep us warm, we were very comfortable.

The prestige offered by this renowned resort is equaled only by the breath taking beauty of its landscape.
The attention to detail and professionalism of the staff can be experienced from the front gate, well into every room of these palatial chalets.
Unique, private and managed with class, Mr Trudeau’s team made Keanuk nature the perfect getaway. My friends and I have made it a yearly rendezvous we can’t wait to get back to and the children talk about it all year round.
Whether you are a skilled fly fishing enthusiast or a seasoned hunter - or you just want to relax in Quebec’s best preserved natural reserve Keanuk nature seems to be ready for everything.

We spent two wonderful days at the Tricorne chalet at the Kenauk Reserve.
With the exception of the little gas fireplace, which was a little capricious, everything was perfect! A small log cabin alone on the edge of a small lake in a snowy, magical forest!
Even if it is not connected to the electricity network, the chalet is comfortable with lighting, stove, hot water and propane heating, and solar-powered fridge.
We were even able to snowshoe and have a fire outside at the end of the day.
We had a meal delivered by Toqué which was delicious.
We were 30 minutes by car from the Christmas market in Montebello which was very nice!
A very nice weekend as a couple!

All of the 2 bedroom chalets have wood stoves that can be operated as fireplaces so you will have a choice of chalets for your dates. Downtown Montreal is 150 km from the entrance to Kenauk Nature. With the new highway 50, 140 km of the driving is on major highways so the distance does not take much time. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have other questions.
Answer from Bill N

There are several one bedroom chalets at Kenauk Nature and the closest one to Fairmont Le Chateau Montebello is Tricorne chalet, which also happens to have the fewest stairs. There is a charge for dogs, to cover the additional expenses for cleaning, but I am sure your dog would love the chalet !

Thanks for the question and No, the chalets are not like lobster - actually the pricing is affordable and there are packages available that offer great value. The rates do vary between seasons, the different sizes of chalets and from weekends to weekdays so in order to get the chalet and package that best suits your needs, i suggest contacting Kenauk Nature directly by email or calling 800.567.6845.
