The Sea Shack is a Festive Hostel in the heart of Gaspésie, Québec.

The property is located right on the Saint-Laurent Gulf on one side and is surrounded by mountains. There are several accomodation options on the property. Room in the main building in a dormitary concept. There is also private rooms in log cabins, the option of a tipi, camping on the beach or in a yourte. The price of the stay is very modest and the accomodations are more than adequate.

This property has a unique concept and atmosphere, aiming towards sports andor rest during the day and partying at night. The property is located approximately 30 minutes from the Chic Choc moutains, offering great hiking opportunities. There are also daily Kayack and Canyoning trips offered straight from the property for a minimal cost. Since the property has a beach and located right on the water, during the warmer days, one can swim in the Gulf. There is a Gulf front Jaccuzi for the guests' enjoyment as well.

Guests of the hostel and cabins can enjoy the amnities of the kitchen, which is shared by all guests. There is also a comfy living room and dining room with big bay windows overlooking the water. If one is lucky, he or she may see whales right from the comfort of the dining room.

At night, there is a bar on the property which offers drinks at a reasonable price. There is a camp fire next to the bar and depending on the night and the crowd, there will either be singing and guitar playing around the fire or dancing at the bar with the DJ/Bartender playing great music. Most weekends during the summer, there are bands that play at night as well so there is the added bonus of live muisic!

All in all, it is a place for the young and the young at heart. Although it is not necessarily family oriented, some families that are more open minded do go and have a great time. It is a wonderful place for people in their 20s and 30s to go and meet new people and enjoy the outdoors. The setting is truly paradise and the 3 owners (Alexis, Simon and Bastien) are young business owners who aim for quality and originality rather that for volume. Their hostel is truly a reflection of their personalities and this is what makes this place more than special.

I would be glad to answer any questions with regards to this property and my trip. Feel free to e-mail me at : marilouemard@hotmail.com

The place is designed for parties. Don't go there if you think you're going to bed early. It's NOT the point. It's noisy till around 3am. If you're sleeping under the kitchen, ask for one of the lower beds, because it's going to be noisy again from 10.30 am. Great spot, party by the fire on the beach, lovely people and staff. If you're camping on the beach, beware of thefts.

With such headline I was welcomed by some young girl in the famous Sea Shack.
One of my dreams was to stay in the TeePee at the end it wasn't so pleasant, because it was cold, rainy and sea was very noisy. Ohh and the bar (+party) goes till 3AM, as I understand whatever day it is!
There are some very great things about this place - food is great and very delicious, there is local beer in the bar, and outside there is a damn good hot tub! Great things to experience.
I will recommend this place, but if you prepare for this (sleeping bag etc), you are very young (or you can handle a littlebit (maybe sometime more than littlebit) of noise).

It was a great try out - so I'll try to do TeePee again but somewhere where is much warmer and much calmer.

In general place was awesome!

It's located on a beach. It's clean overall. Staff is cool and the atmosphere is relax and arty.

BUT...

You are not to sleep there at all: ok it's a hostel so it's supposed to be always kinda noisy (I've been to plenty of hostels before so I can compare) but this one is extremely noisy! When it's not the kitchen located right above your bed which is shaking like there's a crazy party going on (until 10:30pm and from 8am) there's a pub right next door (and by next door, I mean next door) which is spitting music and beats pretty late and doesn't care if you actually came here to sleep (because you know, they initially sell you a bed for a couple of nights so you might want to sleep at some point...)

If you add that it's pretty expensive for what it is (we realised too late that you could have a decent motel for that price...) it's definitely a NO GO for me. A shame though, it could easily be a great spot :-(

The Sea Shack is the 8th world wonder, hidden in Gaspesie. It's located literraly a couple steps from the sea. There is all kind of accomodations at great prices ; dorms or privates, cabins, yourtes, tipis .. Everything you would though of, is there, in better. It is a charm to look at and very clean. What I loved about Sea Shack is that there is something to do and have fun, at every season. The staff is great and helpful and you will feel like you're part of the group after 5 minutes there.

The first time I went was in february during a snowstorm, and I just loved it, so I went back during the spring to see what it looked like. I travelled both with my boyfriend and solo and enjoyed both stays - if you're alone, you'll instantly make friends.

During winter, you'll enjoy the igloo bar, the outdoor jacuzzi, ice ring, snowshoeing, wood stove .. I literally fell in love with the place and felt home.

During spring, you'll enjoy the whales, the sunsets, the bonfires, the Ruisseau Castor parc for walks, etc..

It's not close by walking distance to any store, you'll need to have your car or to hitchhike to Ste-Anne-des-Monts for food, so bring some before to go - there is a big kitchen with all the furnitures you'd need in the main buidling and fridges to store your food.

Bring a sleeping bag - they have sheets and blankets but you'll be more comfy and it'll feel warmer, especially in the yourtes, when someone forget to put wood in the stove during night and it goes off, you'll freeze your a** off if you don't bring it !

Accomodations are clean, and matresses are foams covered with vinyl so easy to keep clean !

Some cabins have sanitaries and some don't - you might have to get dressed and walk a couple seconds to get to the sanitarian block. Be aware that if you rent one of the 4 small cabins (Viking, Fraisinette, etc..) they are on the top of the cliff so more quiet, but there is a stair you'll have to climb up to go back to your cabin everytime.

I higly recommand the Sea Shack :)

If you want to have fun, party, meet people, listen to music, it's the place. If you want to relax and be calm it's not for you.

I haven't tried the dorms/hostel but if you camp on the beach, the waves will cancel most of the sound around you. Beer and food are expensive but you can cook your food and drink your own beer on the beach only.

Perfect place to meet new people!

My friend Liam and I went here after hiking three mountains in three days at Gaspesie National park. We took some psychedelics here (as it seemed like quite the spot for it) and it made for a really fun night. Definitely a great balance from our park adventures

We'd been prepped by our Moose tour leader about what to expect at this place and it pretty much lived up to expectations...in a bad way. We stayed in the big dorm along from reception and right below the kitchen/diner. Whilst the dorm was big and clean enough, with lockers, and the beds were alright (although no shelves or single lamps for beds), I would go out of my way and triple my budget to avoid staying here again. You can hear every footstep overhead and all of the talking/noise/brass instrumentals (I wish I were joking), and I had water/waste pipes over my bed so that was interesting every time something went (was flushed?!) down there. And don't get me started on the bar/club night noise - that goes on until 3am. I know people go there specifically for the things that I hated, and they love it, but I was there on a Moose tour so staying there was beyond my control. I would not stay there again or recommend it to anyone.

Do you like party? Lots of party? Every day party? So it's the right place for you! Very nice staff, nice place - direct at the beach. I was there for 2 nights, and I met soooooo many people. But after 2 nights I was happy to leave. I just had enough of party. Close to the sea shack is a nationalparc which is really nice. Yeah, cool place, nice people, and just PAAAAARTEY!

Alright. Who's ready to party?🍾🍺 cuz that's what this place is. A PARTY.

We rented one of their cabin, accommodations let me tell you it was FANTASTIC. A step above the tradition camping but a step down from glamping so your in the middle. The cabin is fully equipped with beds, bedding, heat and electricity. You just need your things and your ready to go.

We had a mini bbq we had set up outside did our own thing on our time was really great.

This place is a party place. It's on the water (ocean/fleuve)? Can't get any closer. For someone who dosent know what this place is, it's a hostel with a varried type of accommodations from shared rooms to private cabins to yurts. They have common kitchens, bath, shower house. Pool, hot tub and A BARRRR! etc. They have shows now and then and it's fun to join.

I can't say enough about this place. It's great just don't go thinking your going to sleep early it's noisy noise travels and they party till 4/5 am start again at 10-am. The bathrooms are far there is only one location In The main Center so depending where your staying it could be a bit of a trek especially if your on the drunk side.

Overall. Great place to chill, hangout make new friends etc. A must go don't forget your furry friend.
