It was the first time I went to the Handfield Hostel and it was an amazing experience. The staff is really nice, courteous and professional. The rooms are very nice and comfortable with the beautiful view of the water. We ate at the restaurant bar by the pool and the food was delicious. The two waitresses, Stephanie, are really nice with a nice smile. Owner Pierre is always on site to reassure himself of the comfort of his guests. A good place to relax, relax and with a beautiful atmosphere on the waterfront.Highly recommended.

Super welcome the rooms are beautiful, clean and comfortable, the pool was welcome! Charmed by the place, we booked for dinner with friends, more than 1:30 waiting to receive a very bland meal and far too expensive for what it was!!! Burger with fried meatball, Caesar salad more than ordinary and tiny bib and beef on tenderness. In a canteen we would have understood but when you serve plates at this Award it is laughing at the world...
In short I will go back to stay but certainly not to eat!

Spent two nights at this beautiful hostel, actually at one of their apartments across the street. Arrived late, the instructions left in an outside cabinet were very clear and the bollard for the car was free. We ate well, breakfast and brunch, all a little expensive for the result, but we preferred to stay there. A little surprised that they don't find me a flatter pillow, and that the room isn't redone. Perhaps it is new in the hotel world and we do not know it? Very courteous staff at reception, both on the phone and on site, and extra table service. Thank you! The spacious room, small fridge. View of the marina and river. Beautiful place with pool and spa.

We were there for a my wife's 60th birthday.First of all you list it has having a free breakfast!!! No free breakfast here!! A very expensive one at $30 a head !! We booked the place for the food and the availability of a spa. The food was 😞 mediocre. My wife had a salmon dish which was excellant. I had a dish of shrimps clams and mussels. Which was terrible. The shrimps and the accompanied pasta were tasteless and the clams and mussels almost non-existant.The second night we tried the meat dishes.my wife had a pepper steak which was as hard as a rock.i had the duck dish which was ok but not spectacular definatly not 5 star and over priced. The spa was not available the second day. They told us just as were going in to enjoy it that something in the whirlpool was broken and because of that we couldn't use the sauna either!!! Very strange. After we checked out they said we could have a free breakfast due to that inconvenience. Way too little and way too late.Another thing when we arrived at the hotel I asked if it might be possible to have a room looking over the Richelieu they said yes but it would be another $40 a night evan though the hotel was almost empty! The point here is when you psy big money for a classy weekend experience you have a right to expect top notch quality. This was definatly lacking here. They seem to be out to make as much money as possible.poor customer relations and a very mediocre restaurant.

Country style inn. Beautiful room and comfortable bed. Very poor service at the La Marina restaurant. Poor welcome, waiting time to receive our aperitif 40 minutes. Meals served after 1h20 of endless waiting. The waitress didn't want to serve us. As soon as we arrived, she mentioned that the restaurant should not have been open that evening and that they were not “on the prowl”. Although the terrace was not busy, nor inside, the waitress constantly justified herself. After a long period of waiting, in addition to seeing other customers arriving after us, being served before us. I asked the waitress to bring me the bill for the aperitifs and to let the meals be done, due to the unreasonable and unjustified delay. She mentioned the meals were on the grill??? Pulled pork and hamburger poutine. (We are not talking about a Méchoui). And to top it off during the evening in our room, the boaters on their boats party until the early hours of the morning. Drunk, loud and aggressive. We had planned to stay for 2 nights, but we cut our getaway short and left after one night. I will never return to Auberge Handfield again. 👎🏻

As for the rooms, renovations have been carried out in an annex, but not everywhere and there is a slightly dated side, the air conditioner which must date from the 60s or 80s made a hell of a noise, fortunately the temperature was not was not high. The rest was okay. Regarding the restaurant, we were very disappointed, a very long service time, 30 minutes between two courses, it's still quite long! There were two weddings and a shortage of staff, which I can totally understand, but in this case, don't accept bookings outside of events, otherwise you give yourself a very bad image and reputation. In addition, my sister had ordered a steak and fries, it's simple but it was not edible, nor the fries for that matter, for the price we paid, it is unacceptable. Our friend had ordered scallops as her main course and she was very surprised to see 3 regular scallops on her plate. The staff were very attentive but they did what they could and there wasn't much they could do. We had already come with friends to L'Auberge Handfield and by boat, like this time and we loved our culinary experience, however, at the time the rooms were not up to standard. I congratulate the management for the improvement made regarding the rooms. I deplore, however, the deterioration of the restoration which nevertheless made the reputation of the inn.

A great stay in a high quality hostel. Everything was perfect: Clean and spacious room, very comfortable bed and pillows. As we were at the Festival Chants de vielles in Saint-Antoine-sur-Richelieu, the location was ideal.

On the negative side: In the bathroom there was no soap available for the bathtub. Two devices not accessible from the bathtub!!! One in the sink, the other in the independent shower. I, who never take a shower, was disappointed with this detail that attacked me.

But overall our stay was pleasant.

Breakfast was okay (country plate), I would have liked real roasted potatoes instead of undercooked frozen....

But the service was excellent, the reception very cordial, the cleaning staff with beautiful smiles...

I would probably go back.

My daughter and I have come to the Handfield twice now for work. The staff is always very courteous and the rooms are spotless. The Saturday evening meal was simply gourmet and within the price range of other establishments of the type but without the personal touch of this splendid Auberge! The comfort of the rooms is perfect 👌.

Me and my spouse have often spent time at the Hostel. We love it because we drop out of everyday life easily. That’s why we decided to get married down there. We did this at the Sugar Cabin. The for very nice place, table service was excellent. Very good food, very clean place.
On the other hand, I asked to change my sheets from my room since I had slept there the night before my family and I will be back with my husband that evening. I was told very clearly that it was at 3pm maximum otherwise she will not change them. At 2:45 am I got out of my room during my photo shoot to have them changed. It couldn’t wait until 3am as I had been told earlier. As for the Cabin, the alcohol was quite expensive, our guests were followed to the toilet to search their pockets. We made last minute requests to accommodate our guests with reduced mobility for the dance part which was refused saying that it was not provided for in the contract.

It is a very nice place to celebrate but, perhaps not recommended to middle class people at the Award that alcohol sells this and the tipping instance from the bartender despite having already given many. This meant that our guests left and our evening ended early.

Quaint and cute inn outside of the city, provides a peaceful weekend getaway for couples.

Upon arrival reception staff were courteous and polite, explaining the layout of the inn and directions to our room very well. The room itself was clean and spacious with a view of the river (there is a balcony, but being the winter we did not go out on it). The queen bed was comfortable as well.

We had also dined at the on-site restaurant where we enjoyed a delicious meal. Food was tasty and fresh, and the rustic decor made it for a very enjoyable experience. Breakfast was also included in our package and it was just as good as the dinner service. Wait staff were polite and attentive so no complaints dining on site.

Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at Auberge Handfield and would highly recommend it to those seeking a quiet getaway from the city.

I am not sure exactly what is offered as my wife and I were there for one night only and did not check out the spa. I do recall seeing the services they offer on their website so you might be able to check them out that way. If not, just call them as they are really helpful.
