We really appreciate your comments and loved having you stay with us. We hope to see you again in our little"gem"
On our arrival we were met by (not greeted by) one of the owners who was...in a foul mood, to put it mildly. I have never - ever - arrived anywhere without even hearing a "Good Evening" or "Welcome" - it was a borderline creepy...More

First impressions are lasting and this was truly an unfortunate start. We can only hope that our offer of a free 3 day stay might be accepted so we can have another try at showing you how lovely Balamku is.
Carol and Alan have built an eco friendly B & B on the beach a few miles south of Mahajual. Solar and wind energy power the well appointed round two floor units. The upstairs unit catches great sea breezes and has great sea views. Very...More

Hi Alex. The most economical way to get here from United States is to fly into Cancun and then take the ADO bus to Mahahual. Once you get to Mahahual you can take a taxi to the hotel. Now you have to understand that this hotel is approximately 6 km or approximately 4 miles from town. Since they only serve breakfast at this hotel and no other meals and taxis do not run out there on a regular basis you might want to consider renting a car in Cancun and driving to Mahahual. It is a very simple drive. It's a straight shot on Highway 307 south to the Mahahual turnoff. Once you make the left-hand turn it is approximately 60 km to the town of Mahahual and then another 6 km on the beach road to the hotel. Also if you have a car you will be able to go to some of the local attractions such as Bacalar and the Chocchoben Mayan ruins.
