We rented two wonderful rooms in May and June 2011 and I have to confess that Balamku Inn is by far the nicest eco resort you will find. Carol and Alan have designed a fantastic Inn and they are delightful hosts. The breakfasts were very...More

thank you Colorado for not only being with us but appreciating what we are doing at balamku.
We enjoyed your lively conversations and fun. It was our pleasure and we hope to see you again.
Here for week end April, great welcome & hospitality from owners, excellent breakfasts, spacious palapa accommodation. Friendly small restaurants walking distance. Shallow water & difficult to swim easily from beach only drawback, but accessible reef with kayak. Highly recommended for relaxing getaway. Peter & Karen...More

Hi Alex. The most economical way to get here from United States is to fly into Cancun and then take the ADO bus to Mahahual. Once you get to Mahahual you can take a taxi to the hotel. Now you have to understand that this hotel is approximately 6 km or approximately 4 miles from town. Since they only serve breakfast at this hotel and no other meals and taxis do not run out there on a regular basis you might want to consider renting a car in Cancun and driving to Mahahual. It is a very simple drive. It's a straight shot on Highway 307 south to the Mahahual turnoff. Once you make the left-hand turn it is approximately 60 km to the town of Mahahual and then another 6 km on the beach road to the hotel. Also if you have a car you will be able to go to some of the local attractions such as Bacalar and the Chocchoben Mayan ruins.

Taxi to and from Chetumal will be around 1000 pesos each way ...
