Beautiful and inviting from the outside, full of history - but average thereafter. Clean, except for walls in corridor and room which showed signs of scuffing and wear. Tiling in bath lovely but then shower head broken - symptomatic of hotel that wavers between a 3 and 4 stars. A little more attention to detail and this place could be...

Visited the King's Arms several times during a weekend stay at Amersham. Fabulous food and excellent bar service. We were so impressed with the friendly atmosphere in this cosy hotel with the real fires roaring and live music we could have been in our local! .... and we are from Ireland!! Definitely worth a visit... this is home from home.

We did not stay at the Kings Arms but we know it very well. The hotel is ancient, dating from the 1500s. We had the cream tea the scones and cake (severalk other options are available, on includes a glass of champagne). The ambiance is lovely, with comfortable chairs around a roaring wood fire in the huge fireplace. Service was...

We book a 1 night stay at the hotel and meeting room for 2 days for 14 of us. first impressions for many of my colleagues ( as they were from all over Europe) was how very traditional and old fashioned, with open fire by reception! Just what they would imagine an English old style accommodation should look! Food was...

We enjoyed an overnight stay to attend an on-site evening wedding reception. Our modern room in the annex was fine, and very spacious, and breakfast was ok if perhaps a bit lacklustre. What made the difference were the staff - reception and bar staff were just great all round the clock. Reasonable value overall for the location we felt.

Set in charming Old Amersham, this hotel has tonnes of character. We stayed in a stable duplex room as a family with two young kids, which was comfortable but quirky as you might expect given it is in an old stables. The star is the pub and restaurant, which is so welcoming - good traditional fayre, a nice range of...

I booked a room for my parents (a suite - room 301) but, sadly, the bed proved almost impossible to sleep in because of an appaling mattress (the springs could be felt all over it). A one-night stay with breakfast cost 165 pounds, so I don't think it's too much to ask to have a decent mattress, or if the...
