The hotel sits in the splendid English lakes in the tiny hamlet of Stonethwaite with many splendid walks starting at its front door. The rooms are to a high standard, clean, and with very good ensuite facilities. The staff are charming. Best of all, at the end of the day after a long walk the restaurant food is very very...

A lovely setting granted. Overall overpriced for what you get...BUT there is no mobile phone signal which is not mentioned on the website. We had a business problem + lost credit card to sort which was very difficult to deal with via a coin box phone!! Hard working staff.

We were looking for somewhere for lunch, and followed a sign advertising this hotel about half a mile from the road we were on. The approach road is narrow, but at the end is excellent parking for the hotel, and on entering the bar, we were greeted by friendly staff and a roaring fire. My mother-in-law asked for a small...

I first saw this place in early Feb-17 however they were closed for the Winter [opens Mid Feb] so we took a gamble. I was slight sceptical as websites often overstate their claims, this place however fully met with those expectations. The rooms are very comfortable and relaxing. The location is truly wonderful. Typically the only through traffic being the...

Having had heart surgery a few months ago, my husband arranged for us to have a relaxing break in Borrowdale, as part of my recovery. He chose the Langstrath because of its location, menus and of course, the real ales! And we weren't disappointed. Our room, no.5, was really clean with a very comfortable bed. The views are stunning both...

My partner chose Borrowdale for my first visit to the Lake District, and so I was charged with the task of finding accommodation! Some of the larger hotels were very expensive, this delightful Inn had a two night dinner, bed and breakfast offer, with the option of a third night for a reduced price. Menu looked good, rooms looked comfortable....

The Langstrath is at the very end of the valley so its in a lovely quiet location. perfect for walking as plenty of walks from the door, so we could just forget about the car. This really is a great place to stay. A very friendly welcome. The staff are friendly and helpful and the room was great - big,...

For all the amazing beauty of the area, a proper meal can be hard to come by. One too many badly cooked gammon and eggs can sap the soul. But as we stumbled across the Langstrath on our Coast to Coast walk, the lunchtime food made us tear up with joy. Glorious grub, beautifully presented, with plenty of variety. All...

Located at the end of a lane in Borrowdale on the Cumbrian Way this is a perfect location for serious walkers in the Lakes. As its brochure says the road ends here and the fells start, walking routes in every direction including Scafell Pike, Great Gable and the Langdale Pikes. The food is excellent changing regularly and with daily specials...

When we eventually found the Inn (after many wrong turns despite Satnav), it looked really quaint and inviting. We were greeted by a very pleasant guy and passed on to a very pleasant lady who turned out to be the manager. We were shown up to our comfortable room and all necessary information was provided. We later went down to...
