We stayed here for two nights for a mini break. A lovely pub with good food, pleasant staff and gorgeous food. We were treated to an Irish band on the last night which put the cherry on the cake! A great place from which to explore beautiful Ennerdale Water and a lovely comfortable, clean room to return to after a... More

We have found the food to be very inconsistent here and tend to go to the other pub in the village where the quality of the food is consistently good, but we did have a very good beef madras curry here the other Friday night. We were told that it was the part time chef, so well done to him!... More

A lovely country Inn with friendly & helpful staff & locals. It has a decent selection of beers & food. The accommodation rooms are spacious & comfy. And as you probably know it's in a prime location for walkers & lovers of the great outdoors. Plus I must mention that it's only a short drive away from a superb pie... More

We usually stay elsewhere in the lakes and this was the first time we have visited Ennerdale. Really glad we chose the Fox and Hounds as we were made very welcome upon arrival. They only have three bedrooms but the accommodation was comfortable and spacious and the bed was a joy to sleep in! Downstairs, in the pub, the ale... More

First full night on the C2C post St Bees. Felt a little harsh in not eating there in the eve as they are clearly well sorted for food. But we had made an arrangement to go up the road. Breakfast was fine -0 and the room was lovely. Very comfortable.

Ennerdale Bridge is a critical first-night destination for most Coast-to-Coast walkers so the three rooms at the Fox and Hounds are very popular during the walking season. This is a superb pub, tucked away in an attractive corner of the village opposite the church with a babbling beck alongside. The pub was rescued a few years ago by the community... More

Lovely comfortable rooms with great hot bath after a day's walking. Friendly staff and a lovely beer garden out the back. Basic pub food but lots of it especially the packed lunches which ended up lasting is two days

Stayed 1 night while doing the coast to coast walk. The room was nice and clean and a good size with a large bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good and reasonable priced and breakfast was great too. The pub is in a lovely location I would definitely stay here again.

We stayed for two nights and found the staff friendly and helpful. The room was spacious and clean. Noting that since some previous reviews our bathroom had a shower over the bath, rather than just a bath. Food was good, breakfast offered lots of choice and we we fitted in for an unbooked evening meal on an unexpectedly busy night.... More

We stayed at the end of our first day walking the Coast to Coast trail. The recently refurbished bedroom was excellent, with a large bath (much appreciated by my wife) and everything you could possibly want. This community run pub is, sadly, not well used by the locals and lacks atmosphere. The bar was friendly but just short of customers.... More
