Lunchtime in may, pretty pub, pleasant staff, amazing view, let down by poor food. In the section titled "hot handfuls served with chefs home baked crisps" I ordered the "pulled pork and macaroni cheese slider" slider universally recognised as a burger or sandwich, hence "hot handful", only to be served a small bowl of macaroni cheese with a dessert spoon...

Could not have been better food and the bitter was superb also coupled with very friendly staff. Burger, ribs, haddock scotch egg, beef stew and kids fish and chips were all excellent. The atmosphere and views are also well worth visit enjoying. Top marks!

We always call in here half way round a walk and my husband always says 'I wish we were staying here!' So I booked it for his big birthday as a surprise and even though we will still call in, I'm not sure we would stay again as it didn't wow either of us over and we didn't feel it...

Went here with some friends. This really is a hidden gem with stunning views. A proper country pub. Menu had great choice and the food was delicious. Kids were also well catered for with good size portions. We will definitely be back when in the area. Booking recommended. Must visit!!

Its a bit out of the way to get to but worth it as whilst we didn't eat the food that came out looked very nice. There is accommodation here too but we...

I have wanted to visit the Masons Arms for more years than I can remember, but as we do not live local it has never happened until today. We met up with some Cumbrian friends for lunch. Not the cheapest pub roast dinner we have eaten, but certainly one of the best. We were given loads of more free vegetables,...

The Masons is hidden away at the head of a valley with stunning views over the countryside albeit parking is a bit limited - it can get busy especially when the weather is good and there's a great patio area at the front to sit out in. Inside it's all Lakeland olde worlde with open fires and ranges and slate...

Have visited on a number of occasions, we have not always been able to be seated inside but their are plenty of outdoor tables with patio heaters, food ha always been lovely, service good and the building oozes quirky character.
