We were shown to a depressing small room on the second floor with aging analglypta wall paper, dated furniture, a slight smell of laundry. Not a room you would want to spend more time in than necessary -more exhausted than tired. The bathroom was a windowless cabin. We asked reception if there was a better room and the receptionist was...

Dear Bottle 222, Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I am pleased that you enjoyed your dinner and breakfast with us and the service offered to you. I think the comments concerning your bedroom were unfair and rather snide. We are a traditional, comfortable, country house hotel offering a high level of service, we do not...

Lovely hotel. Period property and furnished in a traditional way. Very comfortable. All of the staff are very friendly and helpful. Nothing seems too much trouble. The food was absolutely delicious. We had evening meal and breakfast. Both excellent. There is a really nice cosy lounge with open fire to relax in during the evening and a bar. The hotel...

Great location on the outskirts of Cartmel, our 3 night stay was enhanced by Chris, the owner who made it feel like home from home with nothing too much trouble. Our attic bedroom was suitably quirky with centuries-old beams and limited headroom but unfortunately short on windows with a view and the shower in the bath screen a bit leaky....

Chris and his staff are extremely attentive, lovely attention to detail and thoughtful touches, sweets in your room, fresh milk in your room for afternoon tea and an early check in all add to the feeling of feeling welcome. Dinner was delicious with a varied menu and cooked to perfection. We will definitely return.

We had a delightful night and meal at this charming hotel. The only reason I have not given a full 5 star rating is that we felt the room was perhaps a little less stylish than it might have been. But the overall experience was brilliant, the staff, especially the restaurant manager, totally charming and the food truly excellent, including...

My wife and I stayed for a week in mid September and had a most enjoyable stay at Aynsome Manor. The hotel is on the edge of the small but interesting village of Cartmel just south of Lake Windermere and the week of sunshine we had confirmed it has rather different weather than the hills of the Lake District just...

Absolutely superb! Nothing was too much trouble, Sunday lunch (13/09/15) was so delicious. The hotel was wonderful - like stepping back in time. Our only disappointment was that we could not have a booking for later in the week as the hotel was fully booked - we can understand why! Can't wait for our return to this area, a meal...

This is a lovely hotel, original features, impeccably clean, great breakfast, good service. You can walk into the centre of Cartmel (don't forget your torch for the walk back though) where you will find pubs and restaurants. My only small criticism is that the bathroom towels could have been bigger.
