Went in following their special advert for toasted teacake and coffee. Coffee was slopped all over the saucer. Teacake didn't come till 10 minutes later and was 50% still frozen. I took it back. No apology given - just a look of disbelief. Waited another 15 minutes for replacement. Delivered in silence with no comment.

The pub is really set up as a restaurant, which is a shame a it could be quite cosy. Coffee was nice but teacakes, though toasted were still frozen inside. When we sent them back they were replaced but no apology or acknowledgement, which wasn't really very good. Also by the time the replacement arrived we had drunk our coffee.

Decided to lunch here as we were in the area. The building is pretty impressive and upon entering, we were shown into a dining room with a real fire.I think there was one other party eating so the place was pretty quuiet but it was mid week. We were offered the main menu and a two courses menu for £7.95....

Great B+B in a quiet location. Would be ideal for the older generation. decor is very old but matches the whole theme. Nice and clean, staff were all very accommodating. Only downside but understanding was we felt as if we had a curfew. We were asked to be back by 8/9pm before they locked up. If you are planning a...

A group of 6 friends met up at The Wheatsheaf for a pre theatre meal on Friday evening. Four of us had eaten at the pub several times before, though not for a while, and agreed that we had had a reasonable meal. On Friday we were very disappointed with both the service and the food. We had pre booked,...

All I can do is apologise wholeheartedly for the poor quality of the food, I understand that we had a problem with the pastry and filling of the pasties on offer and can assure you that this will not occur again. This was a one off lapse in quality control, the individuals involved have been advised of their errors and...

Large room and bathroom both spotlessly clean... only fault was mattress which I would suggest needs changing.. staff very attentive and accommodating to our needs. Breakfast was freshly cooked and good quality produce. Free parking and competitively priced for the location ... will be booking again in the near future. Thank you for a stress free and pleasant stay

The Wheatsheaf is a pub that is full of character, and the staff are really friendly and couldn't be more helpful. Our party was offered the upstairs private dining room and we were allowed to play our own background music whilst we dined. The food was good, and the Wainwright's bitter was excellent. The rooms are basic but very comfortable,...

Decided to call in on a whim for Sunday Lunch. The place wasn't busy and we had a choice of tables, we chose one by the window in the front bar. Nothing fancy, just what we required. We were served fairly quickly and opted for the Sunday roast at £10.95 each. The food arrived in good time, hot and plenty...

Thank you for your review, although you label us as average it would appear that we performed really well so thanks again for the positives. The only thing we would challenge is your assertion that "a certain aunt" may have been responsible for the roasties, I can assure you that the only "Aunt" working in our kitchen is a lady...

We needed to stay overnight somewhere near Milnthorpe, and found the Wheatsheaf on the internet. It is a very old village pub which serves excellent evening meals, and has a number of comfortable bedrooms. We booked at the last minute and the only room available was a twin room with en-suite. There was a large shower cubicle in the en-suite,...

Returning home from a lovely three night stay at a cottage in Ambleside, we were in need of a good lunch. Travelling south on the A6 between Milnthorpe and Carnforth we started scanning for a good pub. As we were about to pass the turn for the village of Beetham we saw a sign for the Wheatsheaf Inn. Unfortunately, we...
