We stayed for two nights in one of the newly refurbished rooms, having visited a couple of times before in the last few years. Wasdale Hall is a fantastic place, a beautiful property. Kirsty, Bob and the staff are fantastic and the meals are brilliant.

We stayed in the dormitory accommodation for two nights ( Sat & Sun 16/17th August ). The hostel is in a beautiful setting and the building itself is magnificent .Our friends had booked a 4 bed room but we were a late booking so had pot look on arrival . The beds were comfortable if functional , our room had...

The YHA team couldn't have been more warm and helpful when a group of us stayed for a great week this summer. I have been coming back to this venue as part of a group each year for the last 14 years. The rugged landscape makes for fantastic fell walks. We canoed on Wastwater and swam each day. The food...

30 of us came to stay for a fantastic summer week in this beautiful valley with Britain's favourite view. The weather was variable, but as usual we were looked after extremely well. The food was excellent, the accommodation was comfortable, and the staff couldn't have been more friendly. We have used the venue before for group events, and the reason...

If this was a private hotel you'd be charged £300+ a night! As a youth hostel you get stunning location, oak panelled rooms and grand fireplaces for under £20 a night! Granted you have to put up with complete strangers snoring loudly all through the night in the bunk next to you, but I slept soundly knowing that my bank...

Beautifully located next to the lake with stunning views of the famous Wastwater Screes and cliffs, this is a great place to stay. It is a quiet place, far from the crowds in other parts of the Lake District and a bit off the beaten track, but well worth the effort of getting there. We chose not to use the...

Stayed for 2 nights over last weekend. We initially made a hash of our booking after I realised that it clashed with a prearranged break. Rang the Hostel directly and they could not have been more helpful, swapped the date no problem. Then I forgot to write the new date on the calendar and had to ring them to ask...

Excellent YHA. A beautiful old building with some of the facilities newly refurbished, we had a brand new room with a double bed, right next door to brand new excellent showers! And the staff - well they were just fantastic, friendly, obliging and definitely service with a smile. We had no mobile reception and no internet, it was absolute bliss!...

Having last visited Wastwater one winter's day 24 years ago when it left a deep and lasting impression, I felt a return visit was timely! Arriving mid-afternoon on a warm and sunny day in 2014 with the blue of the sky reflected in the water, the house and grounds were deserted. I settled upon a rock at the waters edge...

Hi, Many thanks for your review. It's good to know that a previous visit many uyears ago left such an impression on you and you felt moved to come back again; hopefully it won't be so many years until you come back once more. We pride ourselves on the hostel and it's location, it really cannot be beaten, even if...
