The Bay Horse is in a great situation with views over the estuary where the Ulverston Canal joins the sea. The pub is very cosy with a real fire. The food was really really good but it was a bit of a let down that the Cumberland ale tasted strangely of vinegar. So maybe drink lager or wine when you...

Hotel very comfortable and clean albeit with somewhat dated decor. Bar cosy and welcoming. Food fantastic, and well worth the price. Service great. Location super with great views. Room with sea view is worth the extra cost.

Look. It was fine. The venue is nice (I am ignoring the drunken idiot talking at the top of his lungs near my table), the service was good, the food was fine (I had the baboto (sp?) to start, but was unimaginative for my main and had steak. It's just there was nothing which stood out as GREAT. However, on...

Staff very helpful . Swapped our room on arrival for a view of the estuary . Rooms were compact but very clean and warm. Had lunch/bar snack on arrival which was excellent . We ate in the hotel in the evening and found the quality of the meal first class. Lovely views and a couple of good walks. Highly recommend.

Lovely gem of a place if you have dogs. Magical. Rooms wouldn't win awards for size, but are comfortable, clean and no one in their right minds would spend too long in them anyway, given the location. Classic oldey English pub with fire, great food and nice, attentive staff. Only dogless snobs, who think all hotels should be like The...

We have just returned from a fantastic two night stay at the Bay Horse Inn. We were made to feel so welcome by the lovely and attentive staff and other residents. Our room was very clean and overlooked the water which was such a wonderful view (especially the early morning sunrise). We really loved just sitting by the fire with...

We booked for a few days to get away with our dog for some peace and quiet. We arrived at lunch time on Friday with the bar quite full of people enjoying a drink and eating their lunch and couldn't help notice the food looked amazing. The food at our evening meal certainly didn't disappoint, the best soup I've ever...

Having not been to the Bay Horse for a while, we met with friends here for drinks and an evening meal (more of a supper than dinner). The service was absolutely first class, the atmosphere and comfort level was convivial, and the food was really excellent. We ate from the "lite bites" menu which is reasonably priced and has a...
