Had a lovely stay for my wifes Birthday in the room inside the house and from the moment we arrived we felt at home with Sam and Gary..and of course their lovely dogs.

As you walk through the front door of their house to your room there is a sense of calm and tranquility.

Even though you are actually sharing the house with the owners you feel comfotable in the surroundings.

When you walk through their hallway and up the wide staircase you notice a beautifully designed stained glass window.

Then you turn right to the bedroom which is cosy and nicely furnished.

The bathroom which is just out of the room and via the hallway is beautifully modern and tastefully designed with a kingsize bath tub, separate walk in shower and locally produced bath/shower products.

The view from your room is of the gorgeous unobscured sloping hillside, and at the back of the house there are some picnic tables for you to sit and soak up up the scenery.

We had planned to go out for a meal in Ulverston but it was such a lovely sunny day we decided to grab a bottle of Presecco and a chippy tea and sit outside in the seated area.

It felt like we had the whole area to ourselves as the sun set over the hills.

Sam and Gary and the dogs joined us later on and filled us in with their expert local knowledge of the area.

Sam and Gary work tirelessly to make your stay a special one. Always on hand to offer advise on places to go and eat.

We left as friends and hope to venture back soon to see them at the delightful B and B.

Sam and Gary made the process of booking and checking out so easy. Sam passed full information about our booking with swift replies to any queries.
When we arrived Gary was there to greet us, explaining the site and how to use the facilities.
The Candlewyck site is situated in a scenic area just on the outskirts of Ulverston, Cumbria. surrounded by open countryside next to a small beck and woods. There is a footpath that directly takes you too Ulverston approx 15 min to dog friendly town.
Gary with a wealth of local knowledge described a number of dog friendly pubs to visit with good food. The site is well run with Gary’s hard working ethos, ensured the tents and facilities are kept to a high standard. The Bell tents can be reconfigured from a couple to a small family. All facilities is what you expect of a Luxury Glamping Experience. Would like to thank them for a relaxing, stress free experience and will be going back. I full recommend Candlewyck he Glamping is your cup of tea.
Well Done Sam and Gary.
Fm Matt, Debs and Blaze.

We stayed in the barn for one night and my only gripe is that we didn't stay longer. The barn is immaculately presented and has everything you could possibly need. Upon arrival I was met by Gary who took time to show me around and made sure I knew how all of the equipment worked. The bathroom was fitted with a walk in shower that was equipped with a rainfall shower head (and separate hose) and underfloor heating (perfect for the winter months!).

The bed was extremely comfortable and it's obvious that no expense/thought has been spared.

Before I arrived Sam was kind enough to email me over restaurant recommendations and all of the relevant information relating to my stay.

I really can't recommend CandleWyck enough and Sam/Gary were the perfect hosts. You will certainly not be disappointed if you choose to stay here.

We booked a two night stay via the Candlewyk website. We had a wonderful time at the luxury barn - wish we had booked for longer! From the moment we got there we felt so relaxed. The barn was exceptionally clean and comfortable and we loved the coffee and luxury soap products that were kindly provided. The views from the barn were beautiful and it was so cosy and warm. The underfloor heating in the bathroom and the waffle dressing gowns were nice surprises. The full English breakfast was amazing. We loved the homemade marmalade and the fact that the food was locally sourced. Sam was a brilliant host and she couldn’t have made our stay more perfect. The barn is in a quiet location but isn’t too far a walk from local pubs and shops. I highly recommend the barn to anyone wanting a relaxing time away in a lovely location!

This is a beautiful barn conversion in a lovely setting on the outskirts of Ulverston. Every comfort has been provided with great bed and bedding, sofa, armchair and chic and luxurious decor. The bathroom was smart with a great shower and very nice toiletries. We went for a luxury continental breakfast with cereal, yogurt, fresh fruit and croissants plus orange juice , coffee or tea. Hosts are delightful and very helpful, booking our evening meals and providing every needed. The only slight criticism was the unavailability of a razor plug but our hosts provided a plug for charging toothbrushes and razors.

Stayed at Candlewyck Barn for a long weekend as a pre-celebration to our 9th wedding anniversary and we could not have been happier with the beautiful barn conversion. The barn is beautifully decorated and furnished with luxurious items, from the bed, to the wet room shower, to the soaps and towels, coffee and tea, it is superb !! A truly 5 star experience.
The Cumbrian breakfast is delicious and Sam is a truly lovely host. My wife and I and our two dogs loved this quiet location and enclosed gardens for the dogs to run in.
What a truly beautiful part of Cumbria. Highly recommend that you visit. Thanks Sam.

My first time in the Lakes. We stayed in the main house as the barn was full. Beautiful room and own bathroom. A fantastic shower. Stunning scenery from the window- hills and farm animals. We felt very welcomed into their house as Sam and Gary are so friendly. We got a continental breakfast one morning and a Cumbrian the next, both delicious. Candlewyck is on the outskirts of the village and a 10 min walk to the town. I really enjoyed my stay here and cant wait to return.

We just spent one night at Candlewyck Barn before starting our walking holiday along the Cumbria Way. Sam & Gary are great hosts - they've kitted the barn out with everything you could need and it feels really homely and cosy, but with all the mod cons and extras you can think of (e.g. underfloor heating, coffee machine, lovely toiletries). They were very welcoming to us and our dog, and the delivery of freshly baked croissants and all the other breakfast bits the next morning was a perfect way to set ourselves up for a long day of walking. Would definitely recommend!

Super Easy to find and a little gem! I stayed here for a couple of nights and it was an amazing experience. The room and ensuite are spotless, modern and quite frankly outstanding.
I was lucky enough to have a sneak peek at the barn after the last guests left and that also was breath taking!
The attention to detail is astonishing.
Breakfast was all locally sourced & Organic fresh produce which they proudly served, yummy and fresh.
The views were picturesque and there are also some lovely restaurants which are worth checking out. Shooting ground within 30 minutes and lots of stunning walks.
There is nothing I would change or fault with this place and would highly recommend people book this.

Spent 2 nights here for our 30th anniversary. Made to feel very welcome and at home in The Barn. Everything you could need and Sam and Gary were very helpful with recommendations and bookings for dinner in Ulverston. We ate at the Rose and Crown and The Farmers and both were great. Within walking distance - picturesque walk along the river in and road walk back.
Champagne in the garden on the swing watching the sun go down was beautiful!
Great breakfasts, toiletries, bed linen etc. Would and already have, recommended to friends.

Answer from Sam D
Ulverston, United Kingdom
Hi, yes we allow well behaved dogs in the separate barn studio. We know how important it is to be able to take dogs away as we have three gorgeous Labradors of our own. The cost is an extra £10 per night for each dog. Hope that helps. Many thanks and kind regards, Sam

My parents have limited mobility, how accessible are the rooms?
Answer from Sam D
Ulverston, United Kingdom
Hi, all rooms are accessed by stairs. The barn has a few steps outside and One flight of stairs and the main house has a flight split into two levels of easy shallow stairs. Does that help?
