The Cumberland Hotel looks nothing like the photo. It looks very shabby, badly needs painted No kerb appeal and rooms are very dated. Food is good and staff are lovely and very efficient.I could not visit this establishment again. They are fully booked until the end of the year but obviously do not invest in the property and have not...

Unfortunate enough to stay at The Cumberland Hotel as part of an David Urquhart Tour of "The Lakes". Firstly the landlady called the coach driver and advised not to have the coach party at the hotel before 4.30pm. Then on arrival we were advised the dinner which had to be ordered en-route would be served at 6pm. Everyone appeared in...

My daughter and myself went to this hotel with a David Urquhart coach tour, which was advertised as a Rail, Sail and Lakes tour. Yes we had the rail trip and the sail on Lake Windermere but on the half day trip to Keswick we didn't have time to visit the lake, and I'm still trying to figure out where...

My Mum and I were on an Urquarts tour last week on a visit to the lakes...Workington was not a suitable base. The hotel is opposite the train station. To walk to the closest supermarkets was not a secure experience for two women on their own. It is on the coast, but the only coastal vista is some docks. It...

1. Location was not too good. It was in the middle of a housing project although it had a car-park so at least we could leave the vehicle there. There were no places nearby to eat out so had to drive into Workington. 2. The 1st room I had was freezing, the windows rattled when traffic went past and I...

I never leave a negative review , I'd rather put it down to experience . This was the exception . I've stayed in hundreds of hotels worldwide and this was without any doubt the absolute worst . It wouldn't be fair not to make other aware. One of the 'quirkiest' things I've ever seen is the amount of easy chairs...

One of the worst hotels l have stayed in. Like most people, we went with Urquhart's tours. Unbelievable... There was no porter to help the elderly, the lift had a mind of its own, the place was cluttered with furniture and was difficult to get your suitcases weaved around. There was instructions on what not to do. l thought it...

First impressions were of roses - on the wallpaper, the cushions, behind the bar but it was cosy. Our room was not very big and the floorboards creaked terribly, try going to the loo in the middle of the night. The bathroom was quite big but cold, we had to close the window on arrival. Shower not very powerful or...
