Stayed this weekend the owner couldn't do enough for you we handed our breakfast slip in later like 1 hr before breakfast and still made our breakfast without bother. Can't understand the odd bad review. We will definitely go back

We have just returned from a wonderful easter weekend away at Cheshire House. A very comfortable clean room with a hearty breakfast. The host was accommodating, pleasant and friendly. Its central location in Castleton village makes it an ideal place for local shops, pubs, restaurants and walks in general. Would definitely stay again.

Sadly disappointed. Cleanliness wasn't up to standard, not even bog standard! I actually didn't want to use the bathroom as it was more crime scene than useful facility (I have photos if anyone wants to use them as an emetic). The mattress was hard and you can feel every spring. Breakfast might have been nice if I had eaten it...

I was surprised to receive this review. These guests arrived at 4pm on the Saturday, following drinks at a local pub. In hindsight, I am relieved that I did not have any other guests that evening who may have been disturbed by their behaviour and language. Upon their arrival, I offered the use of our off road parking. Strangely, these...

Stayed here last weekend as we were taking part in the Cancer Research Tough 10k. The friendly and accomodating host was very helpful, allowing for us arriving late evening and extending our departure slightly to allow us to shower. Breakfasts were good and rooms comfortable and clean with a good shower to. Very handy for all pubs and cafes in...

We have just returned from a very pleasant stay at Cheshire House. A comfortable room with a lovely breakfast. There is free parking and some lovely restaurants in the village and Cheshire House is in the perfect location to enjoy these.

We stayed here for two nights in September. Fantastic location, the breakfasts were delcious and the owner very welcoming. The room was decorated pleasantly, nice new samsung flat screen TV above the bed, lovely thick towels and the room was clean. We both felt £80 a night was a little too much for what you got. Paying this amount we...

Thank you for your review and the positive comments. The price I charge per night is in keeping with other similar bed and breakfasts in Castleton. I always ensure that each room is clean, comfortable and furnished to high standards. Fresh coffee, juice etc. are provided each morning at breakfast. However, in the interests of safety and hygiene I only...

First impressions are always important. On arrival it was noticed the peeling paintwork on the door and cat flap held in place by duck tape. On entry there was a distinct smell of dog. Although the room was ok the net curtains were ripped and it was not that clean. Cobwebs in bathroom, somebodies hair stuck to tiles & the...

I was disappointed to receive this review. Each room is serviced by me personally and I ensure that high standards of both cleanliness and condition of the soft-furnishings are maintained at all times, as borne out by many previous reviews. I always ask guests if their stay has been enjoyable when they leave and I am surprised to receive this...

A welcoming and very pleasant stay. We stayed two nights and enjoyed excellent breakfasts, a clean and well facilitated room and felt that Sue would do whatever she could to make our stay as comfortable as possible. The best advert I can offer, for Sue's little gem of a place, is that we will happilly come again and intend doing...

We had a lovely stay at Cheshire House. The room was presented immaculately and Sue, the owner, couldn't do enough to make us comfortable. The food was excellent, the location is ideal – beautiful walks and the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn directly opposite the bed and breakfast serving excellent food and drink for all tastes.

“The brightness, cleanliness and new feeling elegance we found at Sue's front door was repeated everywhere in the Hotel, possibly especially our room!! The room in which we stayed, as well as a neighboring room we viewed, could not have been more fantastic. Cleanliness beyond anything we have experienced in the U.K.! Bright, light filled room with a nice window view of some of among the backdrop of the hills surrounding this picture postcard village. After this our first experience at Sue's house not only will we return whenever we are nearby, but we will likely go out of our way to stay there again!! After meeting this hotel's great host, Sue, we will have no doubt that all of the spaces in her house now and in any future visit will be as nice as the room we stayed in! Sue's house and rooms are now our standard of perfection in B and Bs!!! By the time Sue's gets you settled in your room, you will also think you have reached TRAVELER'S NIRVANA!”
