Good location, lovely old pub that serves excellent food. We dine often in Castleton and this is for us the best for both lunches and evening meals. The room we had was clean and comfortable and we slept well. Down side was cramped bathroom with poor lighting and no drawers! wardrobe was not as wide as a coat hanger. It...

This hotel is situated in a lovely village in the heart of the Dales. The hotel is warm and welcoming, and is furnished in the traditional old style hotel with a typical old bar with open fireplace. Dining is in a lovely room on the ground floor. The menu for both breakfast and dinner is ideal for those using energy...

We called in for a Bank holiday Sunday lunch, the "dogs, kids and muddy boots welcome" sign caught my eye, as finding a decent pub that does good food and allows dogs can sometimes prove difficult! There was a fair choice for vegetarians although a nut roast or veggie bangers and mash would be a nice addition. The service was...

Visit Castleton often and have eating here on many occasions. The staff were always friendly and helpful and there was usually a good atmosphere. Although the food is just traditional pub food it is normally nicely cooked and presented. So, no surprise we decided to have Sunday lunch here whilst walking in the area. I do not know if the...

Ate here on night on a mini break in Castleton. There is a good range of beers, lagers and cider on draft. The menu caters for all tastes from Fish & Chips, Pizza's and traditional Pub fare. I went for the Sausage "Pick & Mix", with a choice of Sausages, Mash Options and Gravy/Sauces. I went for the Pride of...

The Nags Head has become a firm favourite with us for the past 4 years. We are group of 3 couples one of whom celebrates his birthday there each year and refuses to go anywhere else, but we are all happy with that! Staff couldn't be more helpful and nothing is too much trouble, food good as is the selection...

We visited this place for lunch at the beginning of July en-route to Hartington village. We found the staff extremely friendly and helpful. We took our pet whippet in with us and he was welcomed too! The bar meal was gorgeous and a very good portion size. There were quite a few people in for lunchtime but we didn't have...
