Lovely bright airey rooms, comfy beds & pillows. We were in room 1 which was next to the road bit worried about noise but did not hear a thing. lovely friendly staff. Both breakfast and evening meal are delicious plenty of choice and plenty of food could not manage dessert!! Great distance from chatsworth estate where we were, cannot rate...

We stayed here for a couple of nights for my parents' Golden wedding anniversary. From the moment of booking, the Plough couldn't do enough. They made us feel so welcome. Rooms were great, and the food was lovely. We ordered a cake which was tasty and the family who run the Plough even gave Mum and Dad a card. We...

What a delight this place is with pretty, helpful young staff and a welcoming, cosy atmosphere. After a huge tiring walk, my mate and I collapsed into a couple of comfortable seats by the bar with the exhausted dog snuggled at our feet. The Abbeydale Ale was rather special and the whole feel of this pub was warm and positive....

We visited with the dog on a busy easter saturday. There was no issue with having the dog inside, infact there was several dogs inside. We had to wait a little while for food and was alittle longer than stated, but it was hot with local produce being used But all in all great food(mains and pudding) and a decent...

Stopped for lunch quite by chance as the flower baskets outside looked stunning! Warm welcome, beautiful decor and excellent service. The menu is quite extensive and although not cheap eats, the food we ordered was well presented, large portions and very very tasty, so was good value. Four of us dining had fish and chips, very large ploughmans, king prawn...

We stayed in the family room (2 adults and 2 kids) and had a lovely time. The owners were really nice and looked after us very well. The food was good (esp breakfast) and packed lunches were good too.

Very disappointed. The menu promised a cracking lunch, but did not deliver. Ordered the roast dinner, I was happily surprised when asked how I wanted my lamb cooking - I asked for medium. When it came it was more rare than medium tasteless, tough and cold, the mashed potato was a strange grey colour and tasted waxy, one carrot, one...

Was recommended the Plough by the nice woman who owned the flower shop near to where we were staying. We had the antipasti board and garlic bread to start which were both great. For main we had fish and chips and steak. The fish and chips was good however the steak was excellent! Couldn't fault it. Service was great, really...

In my opinion the description of the food on the special 'set menu' sounds better than what actually arrives on your table, which is overpriced for what it is. I'd order one of the more reliable pub classics if I were to go back.

I am not an avid reviewer but I feel strongly about a place presenting itself as upmarket with high class service resting on its laurels because it won some awards a few years ago. My review will cover quality of food and service. 1) Pan-fried cod was lovely in flavour but only order if you have a tiny appetite. The...
