After a busy day at work we drove to Tideswell in search of food and drink. Popped in the STAR and the welcome received was first class. We returned for the evening meal and the food served was restaurant standard, Freshly prepared and plenty of it. Kindly produced a smaller portion form Mum and she welcomed the option. Nothing was...

At last, this is now a nice village pub, new owners have sorted this place banned the drunken locals and youth. Good food. A lot of locals seem to be returning. Website opening details not always accurate. Give it a try.

We waited over an hour for our food on a Saturday night. We had booked a table and were left wondering how it took so long to come! When the food came it was ok but not really good enough to make up for the wait. Beer was delicious though!

This traditional local pub has been sympathetically renovated retaining all its original features. It is a meeting place used by locals but also a great place to eat. An imaginative menu with freshly prepared food using local produce. Due to this there is sometimes a wait but worth waiting for. Everyone is made welcome.

We had an excellent family meal at The Star. Eight adults and two toddlers in a separate room. High chairs provided. The staff were all most helpful and the food was "good pub grub". My steak was just right and the pudding (always a good indicator) was freshly prepared.

Had an evening meal here while staying in a local bed and breakfast. The exterior of the pub is a little unprepossessing, but inside it is beautifully decorated and very welcoming. The staff were very friendly, the service excellent, and the food was very good pub food. The best of the places that we ate in during our stay. Why...

We were staying overnight in Tideswell at Rockingham Lodge (about 100m down the road) and as the weather wasn't good the Star Inn was the nearest place. It was very busy for a Sunday evening and mainly locals. We ordered our food and had about a 20 minute wait. It was worth it as I had pork belly (recommended by...

We were lucky enough to find this pub off the main street. Very friendly...the locals welcomed us as visitors to the village. Excellent real ale. Great atmosphere. Quiz nights and good food. Would certainly recommend for a good night any night of the week
