We had a 2 night stay at The Old Lock Up, Wirksworth, last week as we were investigating some family history. The hotel is in a good location and close to the market square and the main shops of Wirksworth. We were made to feel extremely welcome on our arrival. We found the rooms very comfortable and clean and the... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here. We spent 2 nights in the Solicitors room and whilst it is somewhat old fashioned in its decor it is very comfortable. The bed was one of the comfiest we have slept in. The service is excellent from the moment you arrive. We were a little earlier than we had advised but Tim welcomed... More

A Lovely, characteristic and peaceful place to stay. Nice views and walks and minutes away from Matlock Bath in the car. Tasty little French restaurant around the corner too. Tim was a laid back landlord who made us feel comfortable (and cooked great breakfasts!) would love to visit again and stay in the magistrates room.

We had a couple of nights here in August, it's a lovely building with lots of history and a charming host. A pot of tea and fruit cake was offered to us on arrival - perfect after our long journey. Fantastically comfortable bed and a great breakfast was just what was needed!

We stayed overnight whilst cycling in Derbyshire. It was close,to Tissington and Carsington. Welcoming host. Room was in a separate annexe. The bathroom was on the small size but ok. We had the evening meal cooked by Tim and this was very good as was the breakfast.

We were welcomed to The Old Lock Up by Tim with a much needed cup of tea...the perfect start to a great stay. Our dog was made as welcome as we were, which was lovely. Our room was spacious and comfortable The en suite was small but perfectly formed and the shower was great. Breakfast was excellent, I was particularly... More

Stayed for three very comfortable nights in the magistrates room. Made welcome by Tim on arrival and offered tea and cake before being shown to our room which had good amenities although the bathroom is "snug"! All the food we had was of a good standard and well cooked. The premises are a few minutes walk from local shops, pubs... More

We started our tour of England by staying for two nights in the Old Lockup. Very pleasant surprise! Cozy place with just a few rooms and interesting history! Good location for us to drive to Chatsworth House and look around Peak District. Nearby restaurants within short walking distance. Breakfast was cooked to order and it was delicious and had plenty... Arriving at The Old Lockup gave no indication from the outside what was in store for us. We were welcomed by a very friendly "mine host" who showed us in to a very cosy lounge and brought us tea and home made cake even befor he asked our names! We were then shown to The Magistrate's room, beautifully restored with... More
