Do you remember what hotels were like in the 1970's? If not this is the place to go to remember it as it's not been decorated since then. If you can also sleep next to a railway line you should be OK as they start at 5.30am and make your whole room shake. Then there is the customer service and...

I had a spot of lunch at the Jester today and I've got to say, the Bubble and Squeak was fantastic. Packed full of flavour and just the right amount of seasoning. The staff are helpful and welcoming, there is a roaring fire in the bar and a lovely garden out back for Summer. I will definitely be coming back...

A really nice little pub, just off the A505. Food was very quick and very good. The standard of service was pleasant and not over bearing. The hotel allows dogs which is useful. They had an open fire which is a nice touch.

Having spent an enjoyable Friday evening with great food at a Christmas party night at the Jester, I decided to book Christmas Day lunch. The 5 course meal was excellent and very good value for money, at half the price of most other places. The service was efficient and friendly. A faultless experience which made our Christmas Day special. Thanks...

Was attracted to Jesters by the price and the pics of the room online. On arrival though the rooms are a bit tired compared to the image you see online. The staff were very friendly and the beer was kept well. Breakfast was OK but a bit basic.

We had a pre-Christmas family lunch yesterday which was very good but I would especially like to mention the fantastic staff who were so lovely and helpful especially when my elderly uncle took a fall. They could not have done more so a really big thank you all x

Chose the Jester to stay in because of its closeness to my training course and because of the free parking and the ability to get evening meals in the pub. It did not disappoint, the staff are incredibly friendly and have been amazingly supportive all week, specially during moments where I have been really stressed. The inn is warm and...

It's OK. I guess we think it could be better. It does what it's meant to do but somehow lacks that extra something that a really good pub needs. It satisfies rather than delights which is a pity. Why not more Ashwell commuters popping in for a quick end of day drink, for example?

Stayed one night for work purposes the welcome was okay and the room spacious and well equipped in a fair standard. Plenty of hot water, friendly staff and good quality pub food available with free wifi. Very close to the train line!
