The hotel is dated and one of the beds in room 7 was on a slope, the place could do with a lick of paint. Ok it’s cheap to stay and you pay for what you get,

Also take you own pillows as the one they give you are very very soft, even when you roll them up,

Avoid room 13 if you are tall the middle room, catches you out in the middle of the night..ouch!!

Plenty of parking outside as the private car park was full. Chelsea from the bar checked us in. There are lots of stairways as befits a building of this age. We used the disabled lift to get to our room with our bags and to be honest it sounded as if it was on its last legs so we avoided it after that but it did get us up to our floor. Our room was spotlessly clean and quiet with a separate foyer and bathroom off that. Although the building needs a bit of a paint, the shower worked perfectly and our bed was very comfortable. The cleaners Carol and Kelly were very helpful when my husband had a problem with the key. We had a great Weatherspoons breakfast next morning and, as we were right on the market square, a lively stroll around the quaint little town of Thirsk and we walked right up to the racecourse which is surprisingly near to the town centre (first meeting of 2020 is in April). Good place to stay in centre of town, unpretentious but a good price and good breakfast.

Stayed 5 nights in room 13, I noticed in other reviews that the TV didn't work, it still doesn't! We didn't go there to watch TV though so it wasn't a big issue would have just been handy to put news on in morning when getting ready.
Very basic wonky room with scaffolding at window and on the last morning workmen and drilling at the window so couldn't open curtains.
The shower is one temperature - too hot.
Room service was good, bed made daily and replacement tea, coffee, water and biscuits. There was 2 of us but only ever one big towel and one small towel
Check out is 11am which is good we took first lot of bags to car at 10.15 but key card wouldn't let us get back in to get rest of luggage so had to ask for assistance.
Great location in the centre of the town nice shops and plenty of lovely places to visit and go walking.
Nice to see a few vegan and veggie options on the menu and especially a few vegan breakfast options but considering that effort it would be nice to have a soya or alternative milk option, thankfully every other place in thirsk makes coffee with the option of soya/oat/almond milk (cos its really not that difficult)

I booked the Three Tuns Hotel in Thirsk for the first time and after our experience last weekend it will be the last.
We booked a family room for 2 & 2 kids directly on their web site but when we arrived we were told that the booking they had received was only for 2 adults. They had to hastily set up a sofa bed and a Z bed which had half of the slats missing and was very uncomfortable.
Although the hotel has 13 or so rooms they only have parking for 5 cars. We had to park out front in the square which is paid parking 08.00 to 18.00 hence you need to down before 08.00 to put some money in the meter. I went down at 08.10 only to find that I had already received a £50 parking ticket.
The pub was really loud and a fully of drunk young lad who looked about 12 years old.
The saga continued when one of the staff called us at about 10.45 that night to tell us they had received a noise complaint that we were running a bath and could we stop it! It was quite ironic but right at that time there was a big fight happening outside the pub involving about 15 young lads who had been drinking inside the Three Tuns! The final insult was when we got home an received a really curt e-mail to tell us that they had charged another £50 to my card (citing the small print in the terms and conditions) because my daughter had spilled half a glass of pop on the floor and that they had needed to draft in contract cleaners to sort it!!
My advice- if you want to stay in Thirsk, stay at the Golden Fleece.

Very disappointed with this Wetherspoons. We ordered at the bar and overcharged. When queried we were told the paper menus had wrong prices, but we were not told about this even though I had the menu in my hand when I ordered. When my meal came which was only burger and chips the chips were hardly warm and tasteless. Only at a couple of them, but must admit the burger was very good. Even though the coffee dispensers were regularly checked the actual machines needed a good clean as did the rubbish/dust underneath. Only noticed because we were sat right in front of it. Will definitely not be visiting again.

I think we have all been dumbed down and played for fools by Companies using the current situation to price hike menus reduce portion sizes, serve very badly cooked and awfully presented food, change paper menus so they are too small in print, in bad lighting to read,...they are illegible. Young Staff have a bossy and over self importance in seating, serving etc. no common greetings or interaction let alone a SMILE! This is not the only high street chain that portraits these excuses for mugging customers.

Just back from an overnight stay, our room (2) was superb. Very comfortable bed and pi;;ows. Room was huge and overlooked the Market Place, very quiet (maybe the time of year). The bathroom was also huge with a corner bath and seperate shower together with huge fluffy towels and toilettries included. Tea and coffee was plentiful. We were not expecting the hot chocolate, biscuits and bottled water for the price we paid so that was an additional treat.
We have stayed at this hotel on numerous occassions now but not in this room. All room are good but this one was exceptional.
Staff here are brilliant and obviously you have the bar for meals and drinks which as everyone knows represent excellent value.
Thirsk itself and the surrounding area is a lovely part of the world to visit.
Would I stay here again - absolutely no hesitation.
Would I recommend - what do you think? Off course I would.

I should say straight off that some local customers said they had never seen the restaurant so busy not even on a Saturday night during the World Cup apparently Thrisk races was next day. I had to queue at the bar to check in on arrival at the hotel well before 5pm. I could not see a sign for reception which turned out to be at the back of the hotel down a flight of narrow steep steps. I was told ‘Just wait there, we can see you’ as I moved forward. Later on in the evening around 6.30pm I could not order food without a table number but couldn’t see a table available and no concession made to the fact I was a hotel resident. Restaurant so busy the only table I could find was also in an area with narrow steep steps leading down to it. I have had a total hip replacement and have a little difficulty with stairs especially while carrying items. I tried to order my food on the app but signal was not good in that area so I had to ask people at the next table to look after my drink and save the table while I made my way back to the bar to order food as I had no other option as I was on my own. I asked for the table to be cleaned (previous customers had spilled a drink on it) before the food arrived while I was at the bar but I had to ask again after my food was placed on to the dirty and wet table. The girl serving the food and drink then proceeded to spray the table with detergent while my food was sitting on it. She could have placed my food and drink on to the empty table behind that was clearly marked not for use by customers. I had to swiftly move my food to prevent it from being sprayed as she rushed to do it and was clearly harassed. Staff were very over stretched.

I would suggest any one looking to eat late in thirsk avoids the Three Tuns. Some food unavailable, the food that was served was under cooked. The starter arrived on the same plate as the main course. Come on guys I appreciate your not a high end restaurant but this was shoddy at 20:45 on a Friday by any standards.

Weve been here before but it was quite a while ago so thought we'd come back. The room was really good and had everything you need for a good sleep in the comfy bed and it was so quiet. The food as always in Wetherspoons was good and the atmosphere was good as well. Would certainley come again , there was a problem with parking as the hotel has a very tiny car park so we had to go to the big one and my husband had to get up at 8 next morning to feed the meter again.

Afternoon, We have one room that is suitable for wheelchair users. It is on the first floor which is accessible by lift. The room is a twin but can be set up as a spacious king size room and has a large wet room with all the necessary hand rails etc. Hope this helps! Thanks Hannah
