I needed a room for on night, arriving late and checking out early. I arrived around 10pm and the receptionist was still there (until 10.30) and she was welcoming and helpful. The room itself was clean and tidy, apparently all in good repair but within minutes I noticed there was no toilet paper at all. I tried the reception mobile number but there was no answer, so I had to go to reception and ask for some. This is no Premier Inn so don't expect little bottles of shampoo and shower gel. You did get soap!
I had a good sleep, until it started getting light. The curtains were far from blackout type, so the room lit up from around 4am.
When I got a shower it was not pleasant. The sink tap was hot but the shower couldn't get beyond slightly lukewarm.

In all, it was a nice enough hotel but needs some improvements.

This hotel is very basic, the room was clean, we stayed for 3 nights 27-30th Dec, there was 1x person that we saw working there all the time, ge was doing reception bar etc. On the last night we had no hot water or central heating, my partner went to reception was told it would not be fixed until next day. So we had to boil kettle to have a body wash rather than a shower. No one came into our room throughout the stay to check facilities. We had to go downstairs and ask for toilet rolls more coffee extra pillows. The walls are paper thin and you can here your neighbour in next room. It is a shame because this could be a good hotel if it wasn't run on a shoestring budget.

Just returned from our stay at White horse lodge. We stay here as it is perfect for visiting friends in nearby Bagby.
Well done to the staff for making the hotel so covid secure . Our room 11 was spotless and we were given a generous bag with tea coffee etc.
Couldn't fault anything . The staff are friendly and nothing too much trouble.
See you again next year.

The hotel is very quiet hardly any cars in the car park when we arrived. The room door was sticking so difficult to open. The mattress was lumpy and you could feel the springs. The pillows should be binned along with the scratchy bedding. I am extremely claustrophobic so the door was an issue. We asked if we could move rooms only to be told the hotel was full. A sleepless night with the room door slightly ajar so I could get out. The hotel is a little way out of Thirsk but not easy to walk to especially in the night. I think the owners should sleep in each room to see what problems are there. We didn't stay for breakfast so cannot comment on that. Also no mattress protectors on the mattress or pillow protectors, but basically the pillows should be thrown out, flat as pancakes. The hotel is in a lovely location but the road is busy so expect traffic noise.

Room Tip: It is a budget hotel but if the basics are not good eg bed then it's not really any good.

I arrived at my room to find it unlocked and that someone, presumably a man, had left urine all over the toilet seat. The person on reception did apologise and cleaned the toilet but this just shouldn't have happened - how could the hotel be allowing access to bedrooms? I noticed that other bedroom doors were not locked either, which is really worrying. By the way, the Yale lock was on upside down, which is a clue to the standard of workmanship throughout the room, which quite frankly was incredibly poor, worse than amateur standard. For example, if you look at the tiles in the bathroom it's easy to see paint on them from the ceiling, and I don't just mean at the join with the ceiling. Whoever painted the ceiling didn't clean the tiles properly after they'd finished splashing paint around. The seal around the shower must have been someone's first attempt to ever put sealant on because it was a mess and it didn't even get all the way round. The shower itself didn't work. I tried to shower before I went to bed but it ran cold. So I tried again in the morning and this time it wouldn't work at all i.e. no water came out. The waste pipe from the toilet is not a proper waste pipe and it doesn't comply with building regulations - it's a piece of thin plastic piping used to vent damp air from a tumble drier. And the heating wasn't on so the bathroom was very cold. The room itself didn't have any heating on but in fairness it wasn't stone cold in the room just not warm and cosy. The bed was cheap and uncomfortable - it was the lumpiest, cheapest mattress available on the market. On the plus side the sheets were clean. However, the pillows were so thin and pathetic that they offered no support. Of course, if the person on reception when I checked out had asked me about my stay I would have shared this with them and discussed the room but I wasn't asked. And by the way, the views are from the car park and it might be a very small number of rooms have a good view but the room I was in along with at least seven other rooms was over a high flat roof.

Spending a 4 day break at this hotel. The hotel is just outside of Thirsk and is ideal to tour the many beautiful attractions Yorkshire has to offer. Our room was newly refurbished with a walk in shower and nice fluffy towels and plenty of hot water.
The bed was comfortable but like others have mentioned the frame of the bed is high and if not careful you could end up with bruised thighs. The room was spotless very large with a sofa and 2 chairs nicely decorated with black out curtain
The staff were friendly and helpful especially the young man who was on his own most of the time doing everything he always had a smile and and nothing was a bother to him. We had a evening meal wasn’t the best but I had a lot worse. We had a cooked breakfast and choice was good also continental was also a option I would stay at this hotel again. The only thing I was disappointed about we didn’t have a view from our room but we were out most of the day so this wasn’t a problem

This hotel is a very poor example of a hotel .
We arrived around 11am Saturday leaving our bags in the car. We told the young lady that We would check in later.
On returning from the races in Thirsk the same young lady checked us and also asked if we were staying for breakfast In the morning.

We then went to a bar in the hotel to have a drink to say the bar sparsely stocked would be an understatement. With very few options on types of drink’s.
As we were residents we asked the young lady (the same young lady who was in the reception at 11 am in the morning) If we could open a tab ,To which she agreed. We decided that it would be better to go back into town to find somewhere but had a modicum of choice. We Ask the lady if she knew with a taxi company but she wasn’t aware. Luckily the taxi was just arriving as we went outside and we were able to get into town.
We sat down in a very pleasant pub only to be disturbed by my friends telephone ringing. We ignored the call, But it was so followed by a text.
It was from the young lady at the hotel saying we hadn’t settled up the tab even though she knew we were returning. She also asked at what time we would be back a question that asked to any of us since we were 18.
On our return we settle the tab as we didn’t want another drink in the hotel.
Next morning we went down for breakfast which had been prepared and pre-selected. The young lady who served us was the same young lady whom Had welcomed us at 11 am the previous morning, and was in fact the only member of staff we could detect in the hotel. We neither saw or heard anyone else.
The breakfast tables were set out like conference room and breakfast was served erratically and ad hoc and particularly slowly. The same young lady serve the breakfast and to the best of our knowledge was the one who was cooking it.
The breakfast was okay.

Whilst the hotel was clean and pleasant and The young lady who had already been working for over 22 hours I would not recommend staying here to anyone.
Please be aware I am aware that this is a budget style hotel however some sort of professionalism is needed in all this type of establishment.
I would also question the owners views on staff working hours.

I booked a room for the night of my brother's wedding at the OYO White Horse via booking.com, at a cost of around £40. Six days before the wedding, I had a message from the hotel advising that they had overbooked the hotel that night and therefore my reservation was cancelled. There was no other available accomodation in the area. Accomodation further out (York and Harrogate) was approximately £200 a night by that point. Stressed, of pocket and spoilt watch should have been a happy occasion.

A great place to stay if you travel by car.( It is too far from Thirsk to be a comfortable walk).
We had a comfortable room with a nice country view. I felt that with the Corona situation, they encouraged us to take breakfast in our room, which was actually a treat. We ordered breakfast the night before from a generous menu and when it came (exactly on time) it was superb.
Staff were consistently helpful and friendly. The car park is big and the location is very quiet but close to a big national park.

Words cannot describe this experience so I will go through it bit by bit and you can judge. I arrived to a very unhelpful receptionist who clearly did not want to be there. I arrived at 7.00 pm and was immediately informed that there was no food available as the chef was off sick. I was shown to my room (II was walked through the hotel which absolutely reeked of bleach) which had no key. When I insisted that I must have a key I was given a master key. My room was so small it was impossible to open the wardrobe doors so I had to feed by clothes in with one door half open. The shower was tiny and the only towel was the bath mat which I had to use to dry myself. Whilst I waited for a taxi to take me out for my unplanned dinner I had a gin and tonic from the bar which was served warm and the had no ice and was served in a half pint glass. I didst even bother to ask for lemon. When I arrived back from dinner the hotel was locked; there was a note on the door that said entry was by a code. But I had not been given a code so I rang the "emergency only" number/ Despite ringing constantly for 30 minutes there was still no answer. S eventually I climbed the fire escape to the 1st floor and after about 10 minutes the door was opened by a fully naked guest. (thank you sir whoever you were). After I want to bed there was loud music playing all night(until 3.30 AM) from the only house next door to the hotel; I was told afterwards that this house was the staff accommodation but I have no idea if this was true. After a bad nights sleep I went to complain to the receptionist but there was no staff anywhere to be seen. And I mean nowhere. Don't be deceived by appearances from outside this hotel looks OK but it really is awful and clearly it is known bu the locals as being bad as when I recounted my tale I was met with knowing giggles and noone was surprised.
