4 colleagues attending an event at Silverstone Circuit needing somewhere to simply lay our heads for the night.
The site has adjacent a Starbucks, a McDonalds and a BP petrol station with a shop. The a travel lodge had 2 separate blocks of rooms we end up with 2 staff in each. Parking was free and adequate particularly as we had two vehicles attending including a long wheel based van.
The reception staff were friendly and helpful.
The room was clean, contained the usual open hanging space and shelves, kettle with hot drink (coffee, tea etc) and a tv. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was as you expect with a shower over the bath and a shower curtain that was determined to hug you but the water was powerful enough and hit.
It did everything we expected and the location was excellent for Silverstone
The staff we met were friendly and helpful.
With no other cleaned rooms available the woman in reception, Lisa ann was very understanding and actually went to the trouble of cleaning a room with water supply so I wouldn't have to relocate to Milton Keynes.
Very helpful and very friendly.
It is in a fantastic location for a Silverstone visit, there was a shuttle bus which took you to the circuit (for an additional charge).
There are places to eat and drink within walking distance.
The room was clean and tidy, with tea and coffee making facilities and a fan had been provided in the room as it was a very hot weekend.
We were in a room at the front of the hotel, closest to the dual carriageway but it was surprisingly quiet in the room.
The staff were lovely and friendly and we were even offered chilled bottles of water before we left for race day.
After we had initially booked we had to amend our booking twice, due to Covid and a change in the dates of the race. The staff that I spoke to on the phone were very helpful in amending the booking on both occasions.
We will definitely be visiting again.
I must have been the last person to check in, I arrived just before 8pm. The receptionist was very friendly and gave me the key for room 1. It is right next to reception, and the door to the room is adjacent to two other doors; one for guests to come in and out and the other door is used by the staff to get in and out to the reception desk. All night long there were either guests in and out or the staff were nipping out for a smoke. Staff were also pottering around doing god knows what outside my door well past midnight.
The noise from the doors opening and closing woke me throughout the night, I had a terrible sleep and eventually gave up trying at 5.30am when the reception staff were having a chat outside my door.
I was worried about being kept awake by the noise from the major road outside, but the sound proofing for external noise was pretty good. But internally the noise in this particular room was terrible, my bed may as well have been in reception itself.
Room was clean and the bed was comfy, and staff were friendly. But if you're put in room 1 don't expect to get a decent sleep. If you're staying here being earplugs just to be in the safe side.
I don't know what the other rooms are like, but room 1 was very tired and dated. It's set up for disabled guests, so had a shallow/short bath with a shower over it. I tried having a bath but had to lay with my legs up the wall to get my upper body under the water, it wasn't quite the relaxing soak I was hoping for! The water was piping hot though.
Would I stay again? Most likely not, but if I really had to I'd make sure I checked in early in the hope I wouldn't get room 1 again.
The room wasn't the cleanest, light switches were brown but when I used a wipe on them they were white underneath so clearly hadn't been cleaned in a long while, I would expect more attention to detail in high touch areas even without Covid being an issue.
The non slip area of the bath was no longer non slip and made using the bath or shower quite hazardous.
Only 2 plug sockets in the room and about 7 sockets blanked off.
Considering it's so close to the A43 and the petrol station we were not disturbed by traffic noise.
It is in a good location for visiting London, Milton Keynes etc
Not travelodges fault but the person in the room above spent most of their time moving the furniture around the room whilst wearing concrete shoes!!
Room not cleaned or attended to for the full duration of the stay
Soap dispenser not filled after repeated requests
No rubbish bin in room so 4 days of waste accumulated on the floor that was not removed.
Room walls ultra thin so noise easily transmitted from adjacent rooms
"There is a macdonalds and petrol station next door. Very close to Silverstone race track"Read full review
