Set in rural Sussex, in the shadow of the South Downs, this exceptional family run free house is a joy to behold. In Bramber village (Best kept village in South East England multiple years) The Castle Inn Hotel and Conference Centre sits in magnificent splendour. The front of the Inn is bathed in glorious summer hanging baskets, meticulously cared for.To the rear is an English garden that, quite literally, takes your breath away. Packed with almost every plant imaginable for a garden there are a few surprises in store, such as the Strawberry and Tomato plants that seemingly go unnoticed until their juicy red fruit appears. Tranquillity best describes the atmosphere as you sit back and relax, only to be replaced by awe and wonder as Mr. and Mrs. Swan glide effortlessly passed on the stream, not five feet away, with their half a dozen signets

The Castle Inn Hotel is celebrated for its exceptional value, offering complimentary perks like breakfast and parking that guests appreciate. The establishment's cleanliness receives high marks, with many describing the rooms as immaculate and well-appointed. While the rooms are generally regarded as comfortable and sufficiently equipped, a few guests find them to be somewhat basic and cramped. Amenities, including Sky TV and quality food, satisfy most visitors, although some consider the facilities to be simple yet adequate. The atmosphere is cozy, merging modern comforts with a village feel, although occasional noise can intrude on the serenity. Service at the hotel is frequently commended for its warmth and efficiency, contributing to a pleasant stay.

This is a lovely place, with very friendly staff and good food.
Bramber is a small village with a couple of takeaways/restaurants and another pub, and is within walking distance of Steyning.
The Castle Inn has charmingly sloping floors and a large, bright outdoor eating and drinking area. Our room was small, but we knew that was the case when we booked.
Great care had been taken to introduce one-way systems to help guests stay Covid-safe.
I don't usually eat an evening meal in a hotel but did on the Friday night, and the food was very good - exceeded my expectations. The waiting staff were also very attentive. The cooked breakfast was also very good. I would be a good addition to offer some fresh fruit as well as cereal, toast and fried food.
The place is good value and booking direct will cost you less than on any of the aggregating sites.
All good.

I researched a local hotel for the area near to where I'd got a couple of days work and found this gem of a hotel that was close enough for me for easy local travel. What a lovely hotel!!! Steeped in character with a warm and welcoming staff, and the food on the menu is both mouth watering and meets excellent standards of both quality and service 👍 I've spent two nights here and enjoyed a really tasty burger meal the first night and a quality steak the 2nd night... Cooked medium rare and thoroughly enjoyed 🤠 the double room is to a high standard with tasteful decor and maintained to a high standard. The bar is cozy and restaurant is open plan and spacious, and in these trying times of covid-19 the hosts have excelled themselves with hygiene in place and a one way system around the bar restaurant and toilets. Very pleased and
impressed and would definitely stay here again 👍👍👍

What a little gem of a place. We stayed 2 nights for my brothers wedding. All of the staff were so friendly and polite, even when we stayed up a bit too late celebrating and the staff wanted their beds after a long day! We took our dogs with us, my sister booked the dog friendly Bramber lodge room - the staff even accommodated 9 of us by setting up our breakfast table in the bar so the dogs could join us for breakfast. I was in room 11 on the top floor, the bed was huge and a there was even a second bed in the room to accommodate 3 people. The room was very clean and spacious, with tea, coffee making facilities, an iron, ironing board and hairdryer. There was a large walk in shower with complimentary shower, soap dispensers fitted. The food from the breakfast to the wedding meal was amazing, fresh well cooked and presented. Whilst there the owners were renovating the garden area, I cant wait to come back and see the finished product. Would highly recommend.

I arived at the hotel mid afternoon, checked in was pleasant and uncomplicated.
I was shown to my room where I chilled out before going out to a previous engagement.
The room was warm, comfortable, and the bathroom spacious.
I could of done with a double bed instead of a single bed where the matress was quite old and springy.
Coming back to the hotel again was no bother.
The shower in the morning was hot and with nice towels
The breakfast downstairs was very good, with all the cereals, toast and orange juice etc, coupled with a good english fry up.
After breakfast, checking out was simple, and going to the car park to retreive my car was easy.
Compared with last weeks hotel stay in a different place, this was a 1000% better and was cheaper.
10 out of 10 for this one.

We were off to a promising start: friendly staff welcoming us, we asked if we could get a packed lunch the next morning for our walking trip, and that could be arranged. We were asked what we wanted on our sandwiches, white or brown bread, we were advised to take some fruit from the breakfast table, and they could fill our waterbottles. It was put on our room number, since we’d also.booked a table in the restaurant that night.
The room was small but nice, with good beds and a clean bathroom with an excellent shower.
For our evening meal we went to the restaurant. There was a lot of staff walking around, who were mostly friendly, but chaotic. Someone would come for our order, then leave the menues on the table so the next person would come to take our order. The person we ordered drinks from couldn’t tell us anything about what was on tap. This type of thing happened a lot. The team was not really a team yet. Also the table was very sticky. Food was good though. We asked for the bill to sign and put on our room. Three people came to the table to ask if we wanted the bill and we still had to go to the bar to get it arranged because none of the staff actually came back.
Back in the room we had some trouble. The small room didn’t have a window to ge fresh air and when we left the door to the bathroom open because there was a window we could open, the motion-triggered light would switch on every time we moved, While in the shower however, the light would go out, and not go on again no matter how much you waved.
Next morning the breakfast was very nice (different table, also sticky) fresh, plenty of choice. No fruit however, and when we asked about the fruit for our packed lunch, they said they didn’t have any. The man yesterday apparently didn’t know that. After breakfast we asked if our packed lunches were ready, but nobody knew about that and there was a lot of flailing by several people, more concerned with how this could have gone wrong than with going to fix the problem, so we said we would pack our stuff and maybe in the meantime they could fix the sandwiches. When we came down it turned out they were all out of chutney so someone had gone out to buy some. It took a good while for that to be sorted, when we would have been happy with a tomato or something on the cheese. The man yesterday hadn’t known about the chutney either. Oh well…

We enjoyed our stay here. It is an old pub in a small village. Very quiet and nice. The food was extremely good and the staff were great. We love that the owners run it--that likely explains the great care that we received. Highly recommend.

My husband and I went for lunch yesterday. Despite it being the last day of the eat out to help out scheme, sun shining AND a bank holiday we managed to get a table outside. Their Covid compliance is faultless and table service outside was impressive. We ordered homemade chicken liver parfait (fantastic) and salt and pepper squid as starters the latter being the best we’ve ever had even though we have been to the Far East many times. We both had the Harvey’s battered cod and chips which I can only say you will NEVER get better. The chef here certainly knows his stuff and with probably serving 120+ covers that day it was impressive. The girls work so hard outside running here there and everywhere but always with a smile and are soooo lovely so thank you to everyone at the castle - Sara & Gordon

My wife and I had been visiting family in the area and rather than returning home for a New Year without plans following a very sociable week, we decided to try to book a night locally. Our daughter had recommended the hotel to us many months ago and were surprised to find we could book a room at their normal rates and use the restaurant as they did not have a special NYE event happening. We checked in at lunchtime and were greeted very warmly by all staff we came into contact with. After lunch we were taken to our room. We spent sometime there before meeting old friends in the bar for a drink. We then had and excellent dinner with drinks. Although we did not see in the New Year in the bar, we had an excellent evening. We must make a special mention about Hayley who was consistently cheerful and helpful and, like all the staff, could not do enough to ensure we were happy.

Stayed here whilst in a business trip to Brighton and the location of this place is great as is only 20 mins from Brighton and Hove, near the town of Steyning. Extremely friendly staff made check in quick and easy, and the room was clean, fair sized and very comfortable. The room contained the usual amenities you'd expect, TV (with sky) kettle, tea and coffee etc. The double bed was comfortable and I got a very good night's sleep. The bathroom was clean and the shower had very good water pressure and was hot.
I enjoyed the breakfast the following morning. There is a variety of continental fare and also cooked breakfast options. I opted for the cooked full English breakfast and it was delicious.
Should I venture down this way again, I will seriously consider the Castle Inn Hotel again as I was extremely pleased with the whole experience

We had a very relaxing stay in The Castle Inn which has beautiful footpath walks along the nearby river. There is a small car park on site or free parking in the public car park opposite. Our double bed was comfy and tea and coffee was available in the room. Our room was on the top floor (quite a climb for anyone with mobility issues) and was very warm but there was an electric fan in the room. At breakfast there was cereal and toast available with an extensive choice of cooked items, all freshly prepared. The room itself was very bright and airy. With great links to both the coastal resorts and motorways, this is a lovely relaxing place to stay away from the hustle and bustle of the larger towns.
