I visited with my parents and brother. Our stay at the Canopy was part of a longer trip through Australia, having previously stayed in Sydney, Uluru and Alice Springs. The treehouse and the rainforest blew our minds with their beauty and comfort. The hosts are...More

the Bower house is absolutely stunning, incredibly well designed and immaculate. Everything is perfect, right down to the tiniest detail - the cutlery was all lined up nicely and not even a single crumb in the toaster. The handmade soaps are divine, there are robes...More

Hi. None of the windows have screens, from memory. But there are also no mosquitoes. I can't say I saw many insects at all. The problem with having the windows open is that the cheeky little possums will come in at night and help themselves to your food. Haha. We only ever stayed in July so it was lovely and cold and we were happy to close the house up before it got dark. I couldn't said if it gets humid during warmer months. I suppose it would but it is this almost magical little pocket of rainforest that hides the sun and remains cool all day long. We would go walking at midday and have no concerns for sun exposure or heat.

There are several waterfalls on the Atherton Tablelands within a an hour drive of the Treehouses. The rainforest is all around you and I would walk through the rainforest at the Canopy Treehouses as this is one of the few places that have not been cleared. I have walked through the rainforest here and have seen Whip Birds, Tree Kangaroos, Green Tailed Possums etc. There are several tracks you can follow through the rainforest. You can feed the turtles and sometimes, if you are quiet, you can see platypus in the Ithaca River. The Treehouses overlook the Ithaca River. It is worth staying here.
