We only had time for 2 days in the Daintree Rainforest and optimized our time by spending a night in the jungle tree house. It was fantastic - nice paths, creek, surrounded by bird songs all night. A place worth spending a week to escape the urban stress and get immersed in the beauty of the rainforest.

My husband and I stayed here for 4 nights during our trip to Cape Trib. Staying here with Robert and his wife was 100% the reason this trip was so unforgettable and amazing. I have no complaints about this place but I have a ton of positives to mention, which are the following: THE CABIN- We stayed in the detached... More

I stayed for two nights in the cabin with the outdoor bathroom. As an avowed city dweller this stay was a shock, a needed shock, to my air-con, vacuum sealed, sterile lifestyle. I love luxury and amenities and the little carpet you stand on at at the check in desk, and hotel safes and classy bars and key cards and... More

Happy t o hear you enjoyed your stay, and yes, this is a jungle retreat and I am happy you pointed this out to our future guests. People that have done their research and chosen us because they enjoy this style love it here, but we have also had the occasional city slicker that did not do their research and... More

This is a great place run by Robert. His place provides an unique experience of immersion into the rainforest. He built the whole place himself and we had the opportunity to see all kinds of wildlife like cassowaries and tree frogs right on the property. Also the chorus of wildlife heard day and night is a fun experience. We spent... More

Great experience staying in the rainforest and listening to the amazing sounds of the night animals. Saw micro bats, fireflies, array of birds and a cute little snake. Quirky sculptures. Rooms are pretty basic but it is the experience of the forest you are here to enjoy. Would certainly recommend.

I love the Rainforest Hideaway,I first visited in Sept 2011 and again in April 2015; it is unique, rustic and serene. Robert (the owner) has maximized the beauty of the rain forest without impacting on the environment. I stayed in the room with the outside bathroom and it is quite liberating being with nature. Robert's partner does great Thai massages... More

Totally original, quirky and if you love nature a must visit location. The buildings have all been built by the owner Rob over 20 years. The minimal amount of rain forest that was cleared for the buildings seems to have crept right back up to the walls. The sounds of the rainforest are constant and loud. Electricity is provided by... Relaxing, different and novel, but most of all the comfiest bed we had so far on our trip to Australia. Rob the owner made us welcome, recommended somewhere nice to eat for the evening and then made us breakfast which included a taster plate of various unusual fruits. If you want to get down with nature then this is the... More

Myself and my husband are city visitors in general so Cape tribulation was a bit of a shock to the system. The natural beauty is astounding. Happy to hear you enjoyed your experience, as that is what we aim to provide. One comment I disagree on is the recommendation to bring big sprays, most guests actually ask us why there are no... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Unique accommodation deep inside the world's oldest rainforest. Solar powered eco-accommodation without some of the luxuries and facilities of the big resorts, but comfortable and located within walking distance of beach, restaurants, shop and National Park boardwalks. On the two hectare property there is a sculpture trail showcasing sculptures created by the owner and several visiting artists, fishponds and a beautiful freshwater creek. This place is owner-built and owner-managed, and your host is always happy to provide you with tips on where to go and what to do and book any activities you'd like to do. Prolific wildlife is another feature of this property, especially the cassowaries that frequently visit the place. You can make your holiday action-packed with the local tours such as snorkeling, jungle surfing, horse riding, sea kayaking etc. or total relaxation by hanging out on the property on the seats on the sculpture trail, or in the hammocks around the house. Keep in touch with the outside world through free Wifi. If you are an artist you might even like to add your own creation to the sculpture trail. ... more   less
