A wonderful place ! A beautiful pool in a luxuriant garden surrounding the house. A very comfortable and cosy room. And the best, the yummy homemade breakfast brought by warm hosts Sue & Mick, and the Cassowaries family ! Definitely one of our best memories in Australia ! Many thanks Sue & Mick ! As other reviewers have said, Licuala Lodge is a beautiful place to stay. The gardens are so beautiful and relaxing. We could not have been happier with our accommodation either. We stayed in the King Suite, which had a beautiful bedroom, ensuite bathroom and separate sitting/lounge room. The hosts are wonderful and welcoming. Included in the tarrif is a delicious...

Hi Marie - sadly not much that we can do about the weather - it is what it is. When we are away on holiday then all of us would I'm sure prefer warm, sunny, dry days. Rain is OK if there is just a little bit. But on the bright side, walking in the rainforest in the rain is...

A warm welcome by the owners, beautiful secluded spot. The house is a very well designed and maintained kind of plantation building. The infinity pool is great. Everything is done with care and a good eye for beauty. The breakfast is sumptuous and served on the upper porch. For travelers that want to cook their own dinner there is a...

We were amazed by how beautiful this place was. We had the King Suite which was characterful and a lovely 2 roomed apartment. (We also forgot to return our key... So sorry and we hope it arrived back safely.) Mick and Sue made us feel very welcome and the breakfast was our favourite in the whole of our trip. We...

Hi Pollyanthus - yes we did get the key back, thanks :-) It's amazing how many people do leave with the key, and of course it's always my fault for not asking for the key. But on the bright side everyone has sent back the key, which goes to show that all our guests are wonderful people. Thanks for staying...

We stayed for five nights at Licuala Lodge and it was a great base from which to enjoy all Mission Beach has to offer. The ensuite rooms are separate from the main house just accross the superb garden. There is a shared lounge with TV and cooking facilities. The premises borders the rainforest so it is very quiet except for...

Hi Andy - glad you enjoyed your stay with us. We're very lucky to have cassowaries wander through the garden during the day. Not everyone that comes to Mission Beach gets to see a cassowary, so yes you were in luck. Sue does indeed have a wealth of local knowledge - who needs google ?? All the best Mick and...

We booked the King Suite for the week after Christmas for 3 nights. This is of course the wet season in this part of the world! The room was spotless, well appointed, and spacious. The gardens are beautiful and home to lots of birdlife including the occasional visit from a cassowary and his chicks - amazing! The pool is delightful,...

Hi Skybeau - thanks for the review. We are always aware that the weather at this time of the year can be very changeable and if guests need to leave a day or two early then that's fine by us. There is plenty of shade around the pool, so guests can either soak up the sun by the pool or...

We spent three nights in the Licuala Lodge during our five-week tour of QLD, NT and Sydney. Sue and Mick were extremely welcoming hosts. Beautiful accommodation with verandas overlooking wonderful gardens, fringed by rainforest. Lovely outdoor pool, and the breakfasts here are a real treat (two winning formulae as far as our teenage boys were concerned). We used the great self-catering kitchen and dining room on one evening.
