Great place, great stay, great service... Our family group stayed at these luxurious houses for 4 nights. We used it as a base to visit surrounding wine regions. My wife and I stayed in the Brook Cottage while our friends occupied the Oak Villa.
We based ourselves for 3 nights in Brook Cottage (1 QS bedroom) and did day trips out from there to the motor museum at Birdwood, Monarto Zoo and the Adelaide Hills in general. Hahndorf is a lovely town with beautiful autumn foliage and enough restaurants...More

It depends what else you are doing on your holiday. If you are travelling on to other places you'll find a hire car the easiest option as there's not a lot of public transport once you get outside Adelaide city. It's cheaper to pick up a hire car in the city than from the airport so I'd suggest taking a bus transfer from the airport first if you choose to do this. If you are just going to the Adelaide Hills and plan on wine tasting you don't want a car as they police drink driving very well in this area. The owner of Hahndorf House, Damir, could arrange transfers from the airport and to wineries for you using his own chauffeur driving vehicle at a cost (you'd need to email him to check on costs, times, availability). You could take a taxi which would be expensive as it's probably a 45min trip or you take a bus from the airport (J1) and a connecting bus to Hahndorf (864F) which would be a lot cheaper but takes about 95 minutes. Look up the Adelaide Metro website if you want to check out this option. It seems a long way to go for just 2 days in the Adelaide Hills but if that's what you're doing I'd go for a quick option (ie taxi or Damir's transfer) as it will maximise the time you have available to see the area.
