Nestled in the heart of the city, Residence Inn Cleveland Downtown is celebrated for its prime location, surrounded by sports venues, bars, and restaurants, which guests repeatedly applaud for convenience. While the hotel's historic charm and atmosphere are appreciated, opinions on cleanliness and room conditions are split; some find their accommodations well-kept, others experience neglect.
The service is generally commended for its friendliness, although housekeeping can be hit-or-miss. Despite the kitchenette-equipped rooms, some guests question the value, pointing out the steep prices and dated features.

Pros: Great location walking distance from downtown restaurants, Progressive Field, casino, House of Blues, blowing/arcade, CVS. Short drive to Top Golf. Neat old building with some unique charm. Friendly staff. Our room was much bigger than a standard hotel room plus it had 2 King beds and a kitchen with full sized refrigerator, dish washer and stove. The free breakfast was decent.
Cons: TV service is HORRIBLE (satellite) - it kept freezing up on us both nights. The bathroom was surprisingly TINY considering the size of the room - it was difficult to enter/exit without entering the shower. The hotel doesn't have large hallway ice machines (which we rely on to fill our cooler). However each room has a freezer with an ice maker but not enough for our needs. They were short staffed all weekend. Our room came with ONE bath towel so when we called for more, we had to go to the front desk to get them ourselves (which was a long walk and 2 elevators to another tower). Valet parking is about $40 per day, which seemed the only option. Only 1 valet working both days we were there so there was a long wait, even when we called ahead for our car. Hotel bar closed all weekend.

We appreciate the feedback, jlb7180. We're happy you had a pleasant stay with us and enjoyed our convenient location, historic charm and friendly staff. We appreciate your praise for our spacious rooms and plentiful amenities, and we're glad that the free breakfast was satisfactory. However, we're disappointed that your stay with us was less than ideal. We regret that you had such challenges with the television, the size of the bathroom and the ice maker. It's unfortunate that our staff were not able to better accommodate your needs and we are disheartened to hear of the inconvenience with the bath towels, valet parking and hotel bar. We will address your concerns with our team moving forward. We hope to host you again in the future for a more positive experience.

I will start with the positive before moving on to the issues. #1 - location. We booked this hotel for its location downtown for a Brown's game. It was a nice 20 minute walk to the stadium, there are lots of restaurant options around and the casino is 5 minutes away. #2 the beds were comfortable. #3 there was adequate storage space for our clothes/luggage. #4 the space itself was nice with the separate bedroom/living room. #5 The front desk staff, even as swamped as they were both Saturday and Sunday, were very friendly and professional.
The issues: On Saturday, when we arrived, (with the Guardians playing that night and the Browns at home the next day) there was only one person working the valet. We sat in traffic waiting to be parked for over 40 minutes while this one poor soul ran his butt off. They should have been better prepared. I understand that the valet is just a vendor of the hotel, but without self-parking, you're at the mercy of the valet to stay at the hotel.
I paid for a 1 bedroom suite, which was at a very premium price. I do not have any issues with that price for a very nice room. This room was not very nice. The crown molding had so much dust and cob webs that I sneezed the entire time we were in the room. There is mold/midew in the very basic, old bathtub, there is soot, or something, around the vents, there is no working vent in the bathroom, the shower curtain was ripped. The lightswitch for the bathroom is on the outside of the door so you cannot go to the bathroom without disturbing someone in the bedroom because the light has to be turned on before you can enter and close the bathroom door.
The couch in the living room is terribly uncomfortable.
Wifi is non-existent, could not connect either day or night we were there (2 day stay)
I would not spend the high prices for this hotel again, even with the positives, the room itself, which is what we paid for, was not up to suite standards.

This is an awesome location right across the street from the fieldhouse, making it a great place to stay if going to a Cavs game or a concert. They only offer valet parking but other lots are nearby if you want to self park. Lots of restaurants around. Can walk to Jack Casino from here easily. Beds are very comfortable and rooms are spacious. Nice to have a kitchen with a full size refrigerator. Hallways are nice and wide. Complimentary breakfast is in a large room on the 2nd floor, plenty of seating. Breakfast was nice with hot and cold options. Housekeeping was OK but could be more attentive. Only drawback was shower/toilet room which was small. Sink is outside this room. Very close to many attractions! An overall great place to stay!

This property is pretty much across the street from the Rocket mortgage fieldhouse, so very convenient for a concert we were attending there. Only about a 2 to 3 minute walk to arena. We were checked in quickly and were given room 203. It was 3 long hallways to the room. Room is larger than a typical hotel room. Now the negative part of our stay. The kitchen floor was sticky, almost every nook or cranny was dirty or dusty. Carpets were dirty and worn with a hint of smoke/pot smell. Closet doors were broken and stuck and we could not open without doors falling down. The bathtub wall was cracked, tub stained and bathroom wall was covered in stains. Toilet paper holder was attached to the wall only a few inches from the floor. There was a stairwell right near our room and we thought it would be faster to go down that way but it turned out to be an emergency exit only. Cigarette butts and trash littered all over the stairs and floor. NO ICE MACHINES or ice available on the property anywhere. Breakfast was decent, there were scrambled eggs/potatoes and sausage, with few toast options. Waffle irons were broken. Yogurt was chalky. Coffee was good and they did have creamers and flavored creamers. Breakfast staff were friendly and attentive. Hotel presents itself well online but once you're there, the truth is out. The hotel is old, worn and a little on the dumpy side. The location to the Arena and a few restaurants are the only positives

Wanted to get away for the weekend with my wife and chose this hotel to be close to bars and restaurants. The area is convenient but the hotel is not up to marriott standards. I primarily stay at Marriotts and ive stayed across all differnt types of brands and locations but this one just feels old and dirty. From the start the staff was not interested in helping. I pulled up to the valet and there was no one there for more than 10 minutes. When someone finally shows i asked for a luggage cart and was told none were available and the valet leaves. I wait again - when he returns he mentioned nothing he could do so i unload the car and carry all luggage up. He was clearly flustered, seemed to be short staffed, he said the other valet attendant was hit by a bus at the nearby bus stop. I check in with my wife and get to the room and while decent in size it just feels dirty. Carpets are old and sticky - i didnt remove my socks the entire trip. The wall near the bed had some blood like splatter. It was late and we didn't want to wait for anyone so i just wiped it down myself. Breakfast is your standard residence inn fare, nothing special, however this morning i saw the staff yell at a child at 9:45 am that there are no more waffles and to come back tomorrow. The kid was visibly disappointed. Breakfast is until 10am so not sure why the staff had cleared away half of the breakfasf items. The staff also hovers by the hot buffet scolding patrons for leaving the serving spoons in the chafing dishes. My wife said she'd rather sleep in the bfast dining area tonight as its cleaner than our actual room. Later that day after being out all day we come back to an uncleaned room. When i called we were told they clean rooms every other day. If that's the case why not stay at an airbnb for less and pay less for parking. Same cleaning policy and likely more updated. Still here one more night but can't wait to get out of here. Do your self a favor and stay somewhere else.

Sightsee12932993331, Thank you for taking the time to provide extensive feedback about your recent stay. It is through detailed input such as yours that we can continuously strive to improve the quality of our services. Your observations concerning the state of the hotel, particularly your room's cleanliness, is deeply troubling. We take pride in maintaining a comfortable and spotless environment for our guests, and it is disheartening to hear that these standards were not met during your visit. Moreover, we understand that our staff did not uphold the attentive and respectful service we expect to provide to all of our guests. The lack of assistance at valet and during check-in is contrasted to the usual standards of our service. We realize that this must have added an unnecessary layer of inconvenience to your arrival, especially given the unexpected situation with one of our valet attendant's accident. We also note your comments about breakfast. Our goal is to offer a satisfying and enjoyable meal to start the day right, including maintaining food availability until the end of the designated service time. The behavior described from our staff during breakfast is quite distressing, as we aim to ensure a welcoming and friendly dining atmosphere. We never condone scolding guests or rushing them, and we sincerely apologize if that was your experience. Regarding the housekeeping schedule, our current policy is indeed in response to recent changes in hotel norms. However, we understand that this policy might have come as an unexpected surprise, and we regret any inconvenience this may have caused. Moving forward, please rest assured that we will use your feedback as a learning tool. We will thoroughly examine your experience and work closely with our team to improve our offerings and guest interaction. Our team hopes that if you choose to stay with us in the future, you will have a significantly better experience. Once again, thank you for providing such an in-depth review. Your comments are invaluable in helping us to identify areas where we can improve to ensure a much better stay for future guests.

It was a busy weekend and the hotel staff were clearly overwhelmed with trying to get rooms ready and had a long line of guests waiting both in the lobby and in line for their rooms to be ready. They had multiple sheets of paper with names and phone numbers of people waiting for rooms.
We got assigned a room on the second floor. We started to get settled in but when we went looking for the linens for the sofa bed, we pulled out the sofa bed to check there and found quite a bit of mouse droppings on the sofa bed mattress.
I went down to the front desk and informed them of what we had found. The one staff member agreed to move our room but told us that they had no rooms available. We told her that we needed to get something to eat and she told us that they would switch our room while we were out. We packed up our things and left them just inside our room to be moved.
When we arrived back at the hotel 2 hours later we had not been moved to a new room. We called Marriott customer service and asked to be moved to a different hotel. I don’t know if the whole second floor has mice, and I get that this hotel is old but there was no way we were putting our child to sleep in a bed that had had mouse poop all over it.
The staff member at the front desk offered to credit us with some Marriott points for our inconvenience but they never did this.

The staff were friendly and always helpful. The hotel is really tired and missing simple conveniences. Our guest room indicated "handicapped". We didn't need that, but if you do, this isn't your room. The front door handle is low, the toilet paper hanger is reallllllllly low, and there is a grab bar for the tub at the end you won't be able to reach. No low hooks or hangers. No place to wheel a chair under a sink.
The closet doors in our room were off the track. I reset them, but they still wouldn't budge without a tug. There wasn't a safe in the room. There weren't hooks near the safe to hang toiletries or towels or clothes. There wasn't a good way to hang more than one towel to dry. Cleanliness was just adequate.
The breakfast room was super clean and the staff kept the serving dishes stocked. There were more than fifty people at breakfast on the weekend and one waffle machine. The line forms here...

Ok, We chose this hotel entirely because of its location to the Cleveland Indian’s baseball team. Sorry they’ll always be the Indians to me. Location was excellent short walking distance very convenient to the baseball park. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrive to find a cool little outdoor area called fourth Street that was a series of outdoor bars and restaurants that were lighted and very convenient to the hotel less than a half a block away. Really fun venue. The casino is walking distance. The rock ‘n’ roll Hall of Fame is walking distance but be prepared for a pretty long walk. I would say approximately 30 to 45 minutes going to it which was mostly downhill. coming back was a little more work as it was uphill. Pros:really close to the baseball park. Safe walk at night. 4th st venue is really fun with several good restaurants and bars. Also valet parking at hotel. Cons: our bathroom might’ve been an exception but it was very very small. you could barely open the door to fit inside! it barely fit the shower and toilet. The rest of the room was very large surprisingly for downtown hotel. The only other con was it was somewhat dated and there is the occasional homeless person that you would expect in any downtown large city. Overall based on what we were going for which was the ball game I would recommend it to anyone

We chose this hotel based on the location as we were in town for an NBA game and the hotel is directly across from the stadium. I am a Marriott employee so I always choose marriotts because of their room standards for cleanliness and this did not disappoint. It is in a historic building so the layout is not typical but I loved that. Marshelle at the front desk was amazing and took care of any requests we made. Very friendly and great customer service. Valet was another bonus. Breakfast was great. Will definitely recommend to anyone looking for a great hotel in the downtown Cleveland area and will be back again!

The rooms at this hotel are very nicely appointed and large, with a complete kitchenette - including a full-sized fridge. Unfortunately, that fridge also made a very loud noise on some kind of cycle all night long. There were two other issues with this hotel: 1. The signage is not well lit and hard to see at night, and 2. The ‘24 hour’ $100 hold on the card was still there four days later. Now I used to work in finance and I can tell you what’s going on with this - at any given time, there are tens of thousands of travellers whose funds like this are put into a ‘float’. Their finance people then put those into short term money market investments. This practice should be outlawed.
