We stayed in holiday homes for a week. House are very spacious, clean and had everything we needed. We paid €1750 for the week (a large family group went so we rented 2 houses which cost €3500 in total) which was ridiculously overpriced. Derrynane is absolutely beautiful and we all had a wonderful week. My main issue is that there is no WiFi in the houses. Upon checkin - when we asked for the WiFi password we were advised there was an ongoing issue and the hotel had WiFi but the holiday homes did not. I went over to the reception the following day to make a complaint and asked did they anticipate the WIFI being fixed during our stay and we were advised no. When I booked the holiday homes it clearly said they had WIFI so I personally felt the hotel should have been contacting guests in advance to advise them of this. When I was checking out I asked to speak to a manager who was not available so I left my contact details and have yet to get a phone call. As a group travelling with young kids I felt for the price we paid this was not acceptable. So definitely a mixed review from me. If the WIFI is sorted in the holiday home I would recommend staying there .... if you can get a better price. Also I asked had they rates for next summer and was told the rate from the 18th - 25th July 2021 would be €1750. Ridiculous!!

Excellent Pizza, nice staff and panoramic views of Kenmare bay. Stopped by for outdoor dining on the deck and enjoyed pizza and beer overlooking the ocean on this beautiful part of the wild Atlantic way in south kerry Ireland. Great Pizza ..

We recently were staying in the area and had dinner here. Twice, Food is fabulous! And the setting and views are unreal! Nice big portions and the side salads are Devine! Recommend the fish and chips! We had pizza both nights for the kids and it was lovely and fresh and cooked to
Perfection. We would love to come back and stay in the cottages one day! Staff are very present and helpful

We booked a two nght stay here and paid 415 euro. The receptionist was very friendly and we were handed a folder with the remote control and headed to our sea view room. Upon opening the door there was a weird smell not sure what it was and when i went to unpack discovered the drawers smelt of must hence I kept my clothes in my bag. No excuse for this

Also there is no cleaning of your room during your stay, you make your own bed etc. If you want clean anything you ask for it and they leave it outside the door. This should been conveyed to us when we booked. Whereas our next 2 nights stay was spent in a 4 star hotel down the road where there is full cleaning of the room and all staf
f wear masks and it was cheaper.

We decided to eat in the restaurant on our first night and it was probably the worst meal I had during our trip to kerry. Alot of the food is out of the deep fat fryer, bar the pizza. I had fiscakes and garlic mushrooms which were clearly out of a freezer box before hitting the deep fat fryer. There was soo much grease that when i bit into it the grease dripped onto my clothes.

The breakfast is run by teenagers and seems to have no one in charge. First morning was ok but on the second we waited over half an hour whilst a couple and a party of five who came in 10 minutes after us received their breakfast before us.

Overall its completely overpriced for the standard of room on offer. All of the staff were very nice though.

First the positives. The hotel is located in a beautiful place, the view from the room is beautiful and the staff are very friendly.
But unfortunately a lot of things let this hotel down which is a pity.
The room we had was dusty, very old and tired, the bathroom especially is horrible, a cracked hand basin, peeling ceiling paint ancient tiles, old off white towels.
Covid19 precautions are minimal, some perspex around the bar and breakfast buffet is about it. The staff don't wear masks or visors and are constantly coming within 2 metres of you at mealtimes, including the manager goes from table to table to chat to guests, very nice in normal times, but seriously they need to realise we are in the middle of a pandemic. There is a bar area situated in the area beside the door that leads to the rooms, every evening this area is crowded with people drinking and you have to walk through them to get to your room. My advice is not to stay at this hotel if you are over 70 or belong to an at risk group.
The meal as stated by previous reviewer was awful, the fish cakes were 2 deep fried
hard disks with no evidence of fish and for nearly 20 euro an absolute rip off.
Breakfast is chaotic and disorganized. The buffet consists of a a bowl of whole fruit, boxes of cereal, yogurts, cheap fruit juice and bread rolls and a few pastries the hot food which is ok is served at the table, again rock hard, deep fried hash browns. No marmalade one morning and the staff member I asked said they had probably run out and had no interest in looking for me. I have had much better breakfasts in Premier Inns for a quater of the price of this hotel. We paid nearly 600 euro for 3 nights which for what they offer is a complete rip off and way over priced. You get the sense there is minimal input to make maximum profit. We will never return and recommend you look for a B&B if you want to stay in this beautiful part of our country.

Stayed for a number of nights, on the positive side hotel location is spectacular and has many excellent local attractions.

However, the hotel needs investment, immediately on arrival you are met with the smell of must, the decor is tired and has a ‘70s feel to it. The bedroom was adequate, bed linen and towels clean and rooms were made up every day. Bathroom in need of redecorating, shower curtain was something you would find in a bed sit. The hotel reception and corridors similar to the rooms, need work and some interior redesign and decorating. Simple things stand out on arrival, as an example the 3 fish tanks in the lobby need to be either removed or cleaned and restocked, the selling at reception of crisps/soft drinks (install vending machines close to rooms).

For the price, breakfast was very poor, while the staff are polite, do not have the relevant experience and lack management/training.

I’m disappointed to be writing a poor review, I was aware of some poor reviews but felt location would win out, but the cost did not meet this standard. I have read elsewhere the hotel is under new management, my recent experience tells me they have a lot of work to do and requires spending on renovation.

Just returned from one week in this hotel in Derrynane. The location is beautiful with plenty of gorgeous beaches close by but the hotel itself is quite disappointing. Rooms are clean but often get cold and damp in the evenings. The WiFi was terrible in the bedrooms which isn’t acceptable in this day and age. Housekeeping didn’t visit our rooms during our stay due to COVID-19 but for what we paid for a 7 night stay this is ridiculous and a cop-out. This meant the rooms got smelly and dirty after a few days and we would have had more comfort at home. We had to ask to put the heating on at one point to take the damp uncomfortable feeling from the bedrooms. The service in the restaurant was just ok and there seemed to be regular billing issues. I lost count of the number of times tables around us were issued the wrong bill. We were grossly undercharged one night and issued with a different tables bill another night. Talk about faulty towers!!🙄
Another issue is the food - the breakfast is very basic compared to other hotels we’ve stayed in and the dinner menu really lacks imagination. If chips, burgers, deep fried everything are your thing then you’re sorted. Nothing remotely light or healthy to give your system a break from the stodgy food!! Fish tanks in reception are dirty and an eyesore in my opinion and there was nowhere comfortable to sit and read when not eating etc..only ugly crab chairs and other uncomfortable wooden furniture.

As a family we love this part of Kerry but we will be staying elsewhere next time. It’s very expensive for the overall standard of food, service and accommodation it offers its customers. We still managed to have a good holiday despite the shortcomings of this hotel.

Stayed here as a family of 6 with two triple rooms. Rooms are extremely small and basic. Felt like a motorway hotel. Bare with zero frills. The price led me to expect some comfort but there was none. IKEA shower curtains made the bathrooms flood every time someone took a shower. The hotel has been renovated to a degree, but is in need of a lot more. Pity they wouldn’t take the trouble to heat the swimming pool or landscape the pool area which is tired looking. The food offering is mediocre at best and the extractor fans need attention as the place constantly smells like deep frying. The pizza could be good if the mozzarella wasn’t so cheap tasting. Understaffed also, not easy to get table service. Overall a disappointment to us.

We researched this Hotel on line which had a well designed Website!
When we arrived reality started to hit. Reception had drink bottles stored on shelves behind it; like a corner store shop; with the prices written with a marker underneath.
We were greeted and told we had to pay there and then. We paid by card. We were then allocated our room; which smelled of damp. It was more like 1980s chalet. Bed linen on one side was stained. Turned on the tap in bathroom; yellow water flowed;, tested the Shower same thing. We wanted to leave there and then; but rather than be rude we said we would do one night. We were afraid to Shower because of the colour of the water. Went to dinner as other reviews were good and were expecting a good choice menu; all that was on offer was pizzas, burgers and fish. Basically a Chip shop menu. The only positive thing we can say; Staff were friendly and beds were comfortable and the View amazing.
Breakfast was chaotic, no tables set we had to ask for everything. Staff running everywhere.
The Receptionist came in to clear the tables.
We were Celebrating a Birthday and it was ruined. Overall having stayed in lots of hotels in Ireland and all over the world; this has been the worst ever. Faulty Towers would be an upgrade.

200 euro per night, expecting a hotel and spa. we arrive and it's clear right away it's an old ugly building, the feel is cheap family hotel. Maybe it's good inside. As soon as you enter, everything smells like mold, furniture is from the 70s. The reception is next to the restaurant, water bottles are for sale. Ok... Maybe the good part is the room. Downstairs, it smells like cigarette. It seems like we're getting underground. There are no signs for the rooms. We finally get there and the room, while with an ocean view, is outdated and ugly, but clean.
Honestly, we booked for something completely different.
Got our things and got out. We lost 200 euro (one night) but got refunded the second. If you find this place for 50/80 euro per night it might be worth it, but 200 is a scam.
